Escape From Tarkov is a hardcore story-driven MMO that combines FPS/TPS with RPG elements. It's being developed by Battlestate Games in Russia which contains some team members who helped create Mass Effect/Metro & S.T.A.L.K.E.R & is being built on the Unity 5 engine. It's currently in extended Alpha & should soon be heading to Beta.

It's based in an alternate universe around our present time, in the fictional Russian city of Tarkov, the northern industrial and financial center of the country, and its suburbs. The game events, in turn, set background for the Russia 2028 universe. Full link here.

Players have 1 life (if you die other players can take your stuff) to clear the session with all your acquired items & loot & find the exit.

I've been craving for a spiritual successor to S.T.A.L.K.E.R and now this game is a thing. I'm so happy. :')

Me too, the main thing that concerns me is that its mainly online (with multiplayer bot like enemies) & depends how varied the goals are on each 'level' & how good AI are which seemed to have some issues in alpha footage (which can be forgiven of course as its alpha footage).

Premise seems to be that you are put into a raid like section & must explore it to find the exit & collect loot on the way. Similar to The Divisions dark zones/extraction idea & raids of Destiny, both which ended up a little disappointing in grand scheme of things. You are essentially going from A to B while collecting things then moving onto next 'level'/Section and doing the same from what I understand.

I'm not sure either, but one the other hand, it's still in Alpha. Maybe that mode is all they have to show at the moment.

There is meant to be an arena/gladiator type mode but I imagine thats going to be a little like The Culling/H1Z1 on Steam (like Battle Royale mode). Im very interested to know more as it looks good & im amazed on what they have done with Unity 5.

Ive been waiting for a survival game thats like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. crossed with DayZ style. I want a game thats got a huge open world (like DayZ) where you have to find supplies/food/weapons to survive & has other players & AI on map too. Would be great to have the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. anomalies/dynamic events pop up to disrupt things & so you have to move around & have to survive storms etc. Nether had a great concept but I dont think it managed to quite be as good as it was looking after many development issues (Steam Link).

You know, it's also good to see a developer deepening the first person shooting gameplay. Realistic recoil, bullet drop, under cover blind fire, and even the simple leaning sideways behind ledges, that so many FPSs don't do anymore.

For sure, its the attention to detail that makes some games as good as they are and I appreciate the effort it takes to go into so much detail. Many people out there that dont realise the work it takes to put these sort of things into games & just how much work it can be crafting some titles.
