pretty much this.

And while I'm here, I'll mention that I was pretty awful about this in the past. I got way too caught up in the circlejerk of hate and was exactly the kind of douchebag ruining the fun for everybody. After many months off, I realized that it's not that big of a deal, so I'm less upset over it. I still don't like the new game, but some people love it, so hey, props to them!
Does that mean we can say hi to each other and wave in the hallway? Cause um, I felt like a douchebag too.

I'm not ganna lie, I still get pretty livid about this whole situation, specially after I play DMC1 and 3. I don't know if I'm ganna stop but I certainly don't plan on telling people that they must do as I say and like what I like. That been said this head bumping over DMC/DmC isn't a one way street. I've gotten alot of crap from random fans of DmC for not liking the game, I even got a few 'you're just mad about the white hair' comments out of the blue once or twice.

I guess i would be the black sheep of the thread since I initially liked the tgs 10 trailer and its still remains my most liked trailer of DmC.

I've played the game and found to be a good game, not worthy of the high praise critics give it but then again its not the worst thing ever as fans make it to be.

The story is more disappointing than the gameplay which is ironic considering what NT was advertised for.

The problem with the story is that feels really hollow as it goes from point a to b without really connecting to you and it doesn't make good use of the changes so most of it feels superficial or wasted potential.

Punk or grunge Who'd of thought Dante wearing jeans and a white shirt would cause such controversy.

I'm telling you he should've just stayed in his birthday suit *¬* I would've approved.

Late reply, but I do want to say that that's not what NTDante wears. He wears a shabby black (dark gray, really) coat, shabby jeans and a loose, cheap, discolored t-shirt. Hence the reason why some people don't like his looks (along with his hairstyle and his arguably annoying face).

That boy needed some clean new clothes, definitely. I get he's broke, but still.

I agree it's not the plague of death as many labeled it as or the glorified holy savour of the namesake either.
I think it tried doing what TombRaider Reboot & others try doing & that's taking the namesake from one genre & moving it to other, & that doesn't always work because it's not always the best thing for the namesake.
DevilMayCry is in the Action-adventure, hack and slash genre
The Reboot tried moving it into Drama by adding more story & more character emotions.
And that would be fine IF DevilMayCry originated in that genre in the first place, but adding a dramatic story to a heavy Action-adventure, hack and slash is like toning down brute force & chaotic action because you want it to be romantic.
And the same for the reverse. lightning returns i've read alot of gamers don't hack/slash element.
Or ResidentEvil
Moving it from horror to Action-adventure.
It doesn't always work.
i see what you mean but i disagree since i dont see it as impossible to give a hack and slash game a good story since there have been recent successes and most great stories in the past few years have been billed as action adventures.

even if this game has failed story-wise, doesn't mean that you cant give Devil may cry a good story. It just means you have to find a story that can be told with DMC and its gameplay.

Can we pwease try to remember that no one advertised DmC as having a story that rivaled literature and the likes of Shakespeare? That was just one of the actresses talkin' about the themes seen in the script.

I'm totally fine with anyone thinking whatever they want, but...man...that's just one of the silliest things that was taken so far from the truth, it's almost unfair to a detractor to build an impression from >.<

And can I just say I'm really tired of the boastful PR? Everyone says dis and dat about how great something will be, and I will even admit that, goddamn, I knew this game wasn't going to reinvent the franchise. I knew it would be entertaining, but I wasn't holdin' my breath that it'd be like Dante's second coming (that happened the night before with those strippersHEYOOOOOO~).

But...that's PR, I guess :/ You have to talk up your product and convince people it's worth it. I'm experiencing it all on my own trying to market my book. As a modest dude, it's hard for me to just be like "Yeah, this book is great! Yadda yadda yadda, possible bullsh!t in a can." I suppose there's a vaguely blurry line though, which is where most PR reps stand, telling (mostly) harmless white lies.
