I think I'd buy it only once the price got a bit down, but that's because I am quite broke, sadly... In this period I have to spend my money in different things sadly.
DMC had four games. If you missed all four of them and only got to know if it because of DmC, then i dont need to consider you a DMC fan on same level as others.
I came to knew DMC some years ago, and fell in love with the game. I played DMC1, 3 and 4 in rapid succession, and I felt I couldn't get enough of them. I had been a hater of DmC before it came out. I then changed my mind, but I still think that DMC is a great game. I have always respected those who were willing to engage in civilised discussion in this forum, and I have great respect for DMC fans who don't like DmC. Some of my favorite posters here are DMC fans. And I think I always tried to be civilised and respectful in my discussions here, and tried to praise both series each for their merits.
I say that now, before anyone may think that what I'm going to say next is caused by a biased perspective of a DmC fan.
I think that excluding fans who got to know the franchise from DmC is really unrespectful. Even more so if it is justified by saying that you don't consider them fans at the same level of "older" fans. Being a fan is not a matter of merit, nor of years spent playing a game. Being a fan is simply a matter of loving a franchise, no matter how one comes to love it.
If so, then I should never listen to what my best friend says about, for example, Game of Thrones, simply because she came to know those fandoms later, and through the tv series instead of reading the books first. Or I should never be entitled to speak about those games because I do not know the gameplay mechanics to their depth.
This is a free forum, that is designed to be open for free discussion (obviously, until is conducted in a respectful manner). No one here is more entitled than others to express his opinion on a matter, provided that he does so in a respectful manner.
So I would really like you give me a
really good explanation of why a DmC fan's opinion in this matter is not relevant, an explanation that does not include judgements of "lower" and "higher" levels of being a fan.
What if a DmC fan says he would buy DMC5 at pre-order price? Would it not be a signal that, although he got to know it "only" because of DmC, still the DMC series really struck a chord in him? That he really liked it? Is he not a fan like all the others, since this is a signal he came to love the DMC series, like all DMC fans do?
I am sorry for this wall of text, guys, but I didn't appreciate at all Incarnated's post, and I thought I should give an explanation. That said, I do not want to start a flamewar, and I hope my post does not come out as too offensive. I respect you, Incarnated, as a person and a fan, but those words you said... I didn't like them at all. Sorry. I find them quite lacking in respect.
