Did they fix anything from vanilla?

DragonMaster2010

Don't Let the Fall of America be Your Fall
So I was gone for a bit and was wondering;

  • Did they get ride of/fix the dice game?
  • Did they make sanctus actually fun to fight in the final battle, because that fight was more irritating then fun.
  • is the recurrence better?
  • Is there anymore costumes then what's been shown?
  • Has there been more confirmed for Vergil/Trish/Lady's story?
  • are the super costumes still considered costumes?
  • Will the bosses stop backing away slowly from you while you're fighting them? (don't even try to tell me that it didn't need to be dealt with)
  • Did they fix the enemies so that ALL the characters can fight them and not just for Nero?
  • Is Lady faster with swinging Kalina Ann because that was about as slow as Arbiter from DmC.
a few more questions but these so far.

From what I've seen, no. None of the more glaring flaws were addressed. Same problems, same tediousness, just more characters.

It's just basically DLC content sold back to you as another copy of a game these people interested probably already own.

No and no, git gud.
No.
Not a melee character, but they have shown it as being pretty fast for certain moves.

You know, if any of these are a deal breaker for you it's ok to not buy it. The game was always far from ideal but for $25 I'm not going to lose any sleep over any of it. I know what I'm getting in for.

I know not buying it is not the point but they were never going to fix everything that was wrong with the game. For one thing, it's too old, anyone and everyone who wanted to play it did and they are not going to pay for it again when they can get it for less than $5, it's not an investment that would turn a profit. Ultimately the only real issue the game has is it's massive backtracking and fixing that would probably cost almost as much as it did to make the game. Why spend that money on an old game only the hardcore will want when you can invest it on the next entree?

Ideally, this game should've been released 5 years ago but the hardware was not available so there was no way. I'm honestly surprised it's happening at all. It's just too old to have that kind overhaul.

How Lady moves are even on this list? She wasn't playable in vanilla.

I meant from the very first reveal of her gameplay to now.

I couldn't buy it even if I wanted to since I don't own a PS4/Xbox one.
I just wanted to know what was going on while I was offline is all.

- First one (the dice game) is not a problem with the game, it's not something they needed to 'fix' as there was nothing wrong with it. It's just a feature you personally didn't like. I thought the dice game was exactly what it said it was. You had to time your attack to get the right number, and you could either take the easy road straight to the target, or get some more orbs or fight enemies. It was a game of patience and timing, and there was nothing wrong with it objectively speaking.

- Second point is again not a flaw of the game, it's something you didn't like. I could just as easily say ''did they fix the fight against Vergil in DmC? He didn't do much except spawn doppelgangers, didn't have a real DT. Should fix it.''

- No.

- Lady and Trish don't have a story, they are new playable characters, nothing more. Even Vergil technically doesn't have a story, he gets two cutscenes.

- Seems not, but the super costumes have always been costumes, in each DMC, you know. It didn't just happen from DMC4 onward.

- I don't know what you mean, I've never seen bosses back away from me slowly without much of a reason. If they did so, they did it because they wanted to hit you with a sweep attack after a few seconds.

- Which enemies? And what do you mean ''so all characters could fight them''? The characters can all fight every enemy right? If you mean did they add context-sensitive attacks to the other characters like Nero had with the Devil Bringer... no, that was specifically made for Nero, to help him stand out from the crowd even more.

- Don't know about her DMC4 SE attacks, but I would hope that swinging Kalina Ann is not something she can do easily. There's got to be *risks* to your attacks, with good rewards. It'd make sense if it was as slow as, if not slower than, the Arbiter.

Well yeah, I know I personally didn't like it, thus me asking whether they did something with it or got rid of it. I don't care how other people feel about it. If it hinders the enjoyment of a player, then whether its gone or not is up for asking; opinionated or not.

Not to be too nitpicky but the only way to talk 'objectively' about anything is just to describe it eg: it is a dice game wherein you hit the dice. Therefore there is nothing wrong with anything from an 'objective' standpoint. I'm not trying to pick on you it's just that I see this mistake a lot and thought it worth mentioning. There is bias in pretty much everything. Also I do think the dice game is a problem with pacing as there isn't much reason for us to repeat it as when Dante does it he 'cheats' signifying that the dice game won't be done again but then it resurfaces for no reason other than to find a way to include the boss rush. It's not awful but it isn't desirable by any means in my opinion.

What I was saying is the dice game works as it was intended. Your definition of objective is a bit too strict in this case, as you can also define it as whether or not the dice game works as intended. There is nothing wrong with the dice game unless you decide there is, and the only way to decide that is with opinions. Simple.
I'm not responding to DragonMaster anyway, because I remember him saying before (and I mean months back) that there was something wrong with the dice game, but his only reasoning for it back then was pretty much ''because I didn't think it was fun''. That's all well and good (though vague), but I hate it when people talk about their opinions as though they are facts.
The game works, it's a test of timing and patience, and well... that's all the game needed to be. The only thing I would personally say is annoying about the game, and I will not say that Capcom needs to 'fix' it, is that it feels the need to show you each individual step (yellow to red, red to white, white to red, etc etc). Though it's possible that was skippable too, I don't recall.

The dice game was a way for them to artificially lengthen the game in one of the most laziest ways possible. If you don't see why people have legitimate issue with with its inclusion multiple times in a game that already copy and pasted things for length, you're extremely out of touch.

I wasn't stating my opinion as fact. I already said it was because I didn't like it as clear as day. I never said the Dice game was broken, but unbalanced and annoying. It's not vague at all. I don't have to go into detail about it because what I don't like about it is laid bare right there.

It was always opinionated. I know some like it and some don't. Just because I want it gone doesn't mean I'm complaining about it unfairly.

That stupid dice game being fixed is all I need to justify a purchase, at least when I'm not hurting for money.
