will DmC sell well?

X will never be Y
Made this so me and a other member could possibly discuss this question :)

Why i think DmC will not sell less than 2M:

1) The so called "Death threats" is all over Gaming sites. This attracts attention to the game.
2) Ninja theory fanbase is on board.
3) Part of DMC fanbases are on board.
4) It's on three platforms: PC, PS3 and Xbox.
5) It aims at giving gameplay and a story. It's a product of 10 years of DMC history (DMC 1, 2, 3 and 4).
6) Many gamers don't seem to care about being disrespected.
7) DmC Dante looks is a reflection of British youths. This appeals to them.

However, i could be wrong:
Many might pirate download DmC on PC. Plus many might do that also because they dislike what have been said about previous DMC serie.
And DMC HD might take sales. (it could give sales too)
Also Capcom might have ****ed off many gamers.

Yeah I think pirating will be huge if the SOPA bill is boycotted enough
and anonymous is boycotting it like it is the end of the world ( which is why i love being a member)

Dont see many people who look like that anywhere near here, now if they had a collection of chavs in DmC like this maybe...

Just include alcohol, cigarettes and bricks in their hands maybe...

I see sorta shaved heads in that pic, just like Dante :p and loads of hoods!

They removed the cigarette from Dmc Dante though i think. Very stupid though if you ask me. I mean if it's not the same Dante then who cares really?

I predict that D*C will sell around 1ml.-1,3 at best and in my opinion the movie won't help them with the sales simply because it will be a crappy movie. There are many reasons on why D*C will fail like trying to pass a game that almost has nothing in common with DMC, a hideous character that they're trying to push in out throats as Dante but is actually designed around Tameem's facial structure, a gameplay that so far shows that it's not on DMC's level, Aggrotech music that just doesn't belong in a DMC game, ideas that are obviously taken from other games and on top of it all they insult DMC's fans calling us stupid, sheep and such.

I definitely do not see it selling what capcom predicted it would sale.

The fanbase is to divided at this point.

Half will buy it while the other half will not (or possibly download it or wait until MUCH later to rent/buy it).

another major factor is what they are up against
Gta V is most likely to be released this year and another CoD (yearly release) and halo 4 was announced to be released this holiday season they are going up against pretty big competition to think the fans are going to scurry to them for their game after what they said about us

Hurray for discussions!

but back on topic how do they actually expect this to sell

I would go in to this but so far every last thing they said ,youtube user "Eventstatus" has taken , deciphered, and pounded into the ground. Every....last.... thing they have said.
Eventstatus has put justice on the table

Yes, but we want to discuss it more. Is that ok with you?

Oh, I just noticed the thread was locked. XD
What more is there to say than conitnuous guesses wether or not if it will sell well? The arguements and points have more or less already been covered, but sure, if you guys wish to keep repeating yourselves, go ahead.

Well, I think capcom and nt have botched their first impression and that is gonna cost them in sales/respect.

I feel at this point they might get modest good sales.

But what could tip the balance in their favor is what they give us next.
if they decide now is the time for answers and gives us something substantial, it might work out for the best.

i'm talking the trinity.

1. Some great exclusive content in the HD collection.
2. a non rehased demo.
3. a genuine story trailer.

I still don't understand exactly when the fans were disrespected. What interview was this and what was said?

There are alot of them....

Most of them revolving around NT's famous speaker Tameen who is just all around to arrogant for his own good.

One thing you do not do when fans are already worried about this new change is call their previous beloved character "uncool" and would get "laughed at".

Doesn't matter if he thinks its true or not. Just some things you just do not say when your in the public eye.

But thats only 1 of the reasons why fans feel disrespected.

O.k. I don't think Dante's all that cool. What do you think about that? You probably don't care. .. And you shouldn't.

My opinion is my own an expression of my personal point of view. If I made a Devil May Cry I'd keep the red coat and white hair because they are series staples , like Ninja Theory originally intended, but change the style to something darker and more realistic and deepen the character... Unless Capcom pressured me into completely overhauling him. (you know like, "really go for it")

Yes. Tameem expressed his feelings for the style of the protagonist of Devil May Cry. Dante is a gaming Icon, yes, but the truth is- Not everyone is gonna think the same way you do. For fans to take ONE persons opinion on a fictional character as a personal attack on them is incredibly immature.

Tameem said he really liked Bayonetta, but he didn't think it's style was 'cool' in terms of his personal tastes. He prefers a darker more gritty tone and Bayonetta had a very over-the-top Japanese style to it- as in a wacky style that is common in Japanese entertainment. This style, however did not diminish his appreciation for the game play which he praised. He even praised the wacky style saying as over-the-top as it is, what it does in terms of style, it does very well.

The truth, many fans who have decided to boycott this game made up their minds long ago and are now trying to legitimize their decision by turning what is simply a matter of personal taste over a VIDEO GAME into an overblown, dragged out issue of morals.

Their are no bad guys here. Their are no wrongs, no evils. The world today has plenty of that if you really cared about going to war for a real cause. Fight for real people and real morals and stop going to war with opinion over a character that never existed and can never truly die.

Now, as fans, let's talk Devil may Cry and stop this hate. I'm sick of it!

In an interview Tameem said and i quote
"I don't care about the fans" that should be enough of a reason to hate the game if the person making it doesn't care if it meets the targeted demographics standards or not

Seems you missed the overall point of my post....

Never said that its not right for him to have his opinion. He is allowed to have whatever opinion he wants. He has every right not to think Dante is uncool as do you. BUT, the fact remains that he has a job, which is to please his consumers and make good games.

In the real world your consumer is the most important thing to your business. If consumers are not satisfied than your work suffers. You have to know when to hold your tongue and choose your words carefully. Like for example, say you took over the rights to the Zelda franchise. Now what if you decided to give your own little spin on the Zelda franchise and you made Link look more "modern" and hip. Now imagine that alot of the consumers are naturally on edge about the new changes to their beloved character. Now imagine that you never thought Link was cool to begin with and honestly think you are making him more cool.

Would you.

a.Tell the fans to basically shut up and that this is what is "cool" nowadays and that Link is oudated and not cool.

Or would you take the route to please your consumers and...

b.Shut the F' up and try to be sympathetic to their concerns?

The obvious choice would be B in my honest opinion.

Fact is that he has a job. Despite his personal opinions he has to try to please the fans some way or another. Your not going to please fans with by telling them what they like is "uncool" and also being unsympathetic to their concerns. I recall a interview where someone asked what he thought about the fans outcry and he said "I don't care". THAT is just not the way to go about things.

And sure he is just 1 person. But he also is the 1 person NT and Capcom has decided to put in the spotlight to speak on behalf of the game. So please do not turn this into "why hate NT and Capcom because of 1 guy thing" because thats not all there is.

You quoted wrong. He said simply "I don't care". Again, stop padding it. He was asked how he felt about the hate coming his way. He shouldn't care or be concerned at that point. It was so early in development. I mean have you read the article? It was told from the point of view of a guy who went to interview him. The interviewer said himself that he saw Tameem walk up to him extend a hand to greet him to break the initial silence and he refused to shake his hand immediately instead throwing a very upfront and uncomfortable question at him... "What do you think about the fan reaction?"

It was before Enslaved had even come out. At that point, anything is possible. Note, there was nothing else about what he may have followed that statement up with. It just ended on "I don't care" They expected negative backlash and it didn't bother him. That is all it meant.

I would never "shut the **** up" about anything because that would diminish my rights as a human being and the integrity of MY opinion. His job is not to pander or please, it is to create and inform. What you want are mindless slaves who bow and kiss butt. Also, he NEVER told fans to shut up about anything. The fans were always the rude, disrespectful ones and fans of anything have always been. Stop padding, guy.
