Because it's getting boring having dudes everywhere doing everything. It's not even a feminism thing, it's just...seriously...why aren't there more gals in lead roles that don't involve tryin' to find a man or making it in the world?
We all know how bayonetta turned out. A game with a female protag which was nothing more than a very disturbing game about a witch getting naked all the time. Female protags and antags are needed more in gaming but only where it seems fitting. A game about a demonic female will certainly bring unnecessary nudity and sexism to it.

You would have a majority of the women at the bottom of the scale, like 99% of them.

That's a very out-of-nowhere percentage, makes it sound like you don't care for women much >.<

Never heard about this, wouldn't even be a good idea. MMA is one of the sports where it matters the most. It's fantasy but the concept of equals still exist, the boss fights in DMC 3 and DmC against Vergil wouldn't have been as climatic if one of them was a woman but that's just me.

I'd have to disagree highly, just on principle of how Vergil's gender plays such a little part in his fights.

A while back a friend of mine told me the reason he switched from commander Shepard to lady Shepard in Mass Effect was simply because 'I got tired of staring at well sculpted man a$$.' That's a legitimate reason.

You need to introduce your friend to porn

Tomb Raider? Beyond Two Souls? Assassins Creed on the Vita? Wet? Resident Evil? FFXIII? There are more than one action protagonist around who are women. It's not exactly a failing premise.

He's got a girlfriend to introduce him to that, we're not that close.

It's a major complaint with DMC3, dudes complaining that he won't put on a damn shirt. In this case it's because it's not well sculpted woman a$$ he wants to gander at but rather 'alright, dude, we get it, nice a$$, now put some pants on!!' demeanor.

That's how I felt. Except my reasoning for not liking the DMC3 costume is because I just don't like the impracticality of it. I think it's a huge missed opportunity to have added something much more fashionable to his design, and it's like the alternative was just "no shirt at all".

Well, that really depends on who's writing the character. Kamiya is just a blockhead...but, there are any number of people who can write a capable female. Honestly, the first step to writing a good female character is to pretty much remove gender from the equation and just make a damn character.

It's why Commander Fem!Shepard is beloved so much, because the character and dialogue was written to be essentially asexual in all the ways that matter (aside from romancing). Commander Shepard isn't a male or female character, just a character.

But to introduce it to an already failing franchise whose key theme is stylish slaying of demons by a white haired dude, is to me not such a good idea

I thought the boss from MSG3 was groundbreaking in terms of female characters/villains so i think she should be an inspiration if your going to create a female antagonist for DMC.

You mean The Boss from Metal Gear Solid 3? Yes, she is one of my favorite female characters, but honestly we need a villain that's easy to be despised not one which we can sympathize. Nothing wrong with those kinds of villains, it's just that there are too many games who have tried to go on with that over the past few years. It's become cliched. Not to mention how cheesy things can get if NT or Capcom get it wrong, which is very likely.

Think Menendez from Black Ops 2. Charismatic, evil, always one step ahead of the good guys and extremely powerful in terms of physical capabilities. That's what DmC or DMC needs, only in this case a female version of it.
Alternatively, think Ma from the movie Dredd, the remake of the action flick Stallone starred in. Although she seems to be capable of using her sexuality to her leverage, she doesn't; she mostly uses brute force and intimidation to take down her enemies and inspire her soldiers.

Introducing it to a failing franchise? Do you know who the villains in DMC have been?
DMC1- The devil (so far so good)
DMC2- An industrialist who wants the power of Sparda
DMC3- An occultist who wants the power of Sparda
DMC4- An old preist who wants the power of Sparda
DmC- the devil turned industrialist

Even with the first one been the devil it's a bunch of old dudes, more than half obsessed with Sparda. I hardly think making a woman the new villian will the the final nail in the coffin. A little variety won't kill us, the same old thing will!

I shall accept defeat at the hands of berto, you have proved me wrong

no, don't do that, i'm here to disscus not to win.
Yeah, your discussion has brought me to the understanding that a female antagonist wouldn't be such a bad idea. I can't argue with you if we have the same opinion. But since you want to discuss, I say I would rather prefer a male antag just because I think it's cooler and befitting o the franchise.

Fine then, I WIN!! God, people can be so unreasonable around here sometimes.

Ok, expand on that. Tell me your reasoning and ideas. I'll also remind you that the coolest antagonist in the franchise so far has been Vergil.

What if we had Two antagonists just like Agni and Rudra. but instead of two males one will be a male and the other female. at the beginning you fight it will be 2 VS 1. in the middle of the battle they merge and become one demon.

Well, Dante does have a side kick. Should be about damn time she'd start earning the title.

was I being unreasonable? I was just trying to be a mature participant of a discussion.

yeah, that's not a bad idea. They should have a very sick and twisted relation like jamie and cersei, it's gonna make them really vile. The female could be a very intelligent succubus demon and the male could be more of a brawny character. A cool thing to do would be to make players assume that the male is the alpha antag, however later on it is revealed that the female was pulling the strings all along and instead of merging with the male, absorbs him to get his strength to defeat dante.
