I see a lot of negativity derived by failed live-action game-to-movie adaption films.

Let me tell you, that If you want a CG movie, watch all the cutscenes of any Devil May Cry game, and there you go, the movie, with subtitles, action, storyline and everything you got.

The live-action, is the next step.
I beleive there's a huge difference between combined cut-scenes and a CG movie. I personally believe that live action hurts the image of the true animated character and series. That's just me though.

Christian Bale = Vergil, Johnny Depp = Dante....End of the story!;)

I can see Bale as Virgil...quite easily.

But, as much as I love Depp...I think perhaps Dante is beyond him lol, but it wouldn't suprise me at all if he did a good job lol

((still rooting for an anime/CG film thou))

^ No, I wasn't kidding on the actors.

Learn the difference between a game story and a movie script. It will be adapted 50% - 75%.

Watching all cutscenes is much better than a CG movie. You got all the storyline happening there. That's all I need for a movie.

As I said, live-action is what should be done.

To be honest I think Devil May Cry is one those things where movies are to be kept animated. Remember the very first Final Fantasy movie with actors? I personally have not seen it but I hear only the worst for it. On the other hand Advent Children was really well made (except perhaps for the scenario, but that has nothing to do with the point I'm trying to prove).

Maybe stuff like Resident Evil (where the paranormal is kinda achievable given the recent advances of technology) had a chance of transferring the concept on the big screen. But a world with devils/super transformations/supernatural feats and color (I emphasize on colour because some colourful stuff are also not as cool when in real life. Remember how they stripped the X-Men of their colourful comic suits because it just wouldn't look as cool when real people wore them).

Plus we have the recent problem in all movies that were created by books/other ideas. They cut off too many things and add their own.

That's why if there ever was a Devil May Cry movie that I'd want to watch it would have to be animated;)

Because movies aren't 100% games. They need to be adapted so everyone can watch them. My dad doesn't have to play Devil May Cry to understand the movie. Fans are always an obstacle. It is just a movie. It won't ruin nothing.

^ Nice point... You don't have to be a fan of the games to enjoy the films... Just because the games came out first...

You have a point, but I'm talking about fans like me. I don't really care if anyone who doesn't play the ganes would think of a movie. But as one of the gamers that love and support the series would prefer something closer to what I learnt to love, not an adaption.

As a fan of the series, I'd like a movie with 75% based on the storyline, nothing else. Let them use the 25% to grab the whole audience.

I have no problem with the storyline. I'm quite content if the story would give a genuine Devil May Cry-like feel. But with real actors I fail to imagine that.

I'd like to see how It comes out. Silent Hill came out nicely. Tomb Raider was a bomb.

I'm no fan of Tomb Raider, so I don't have a clue.

Silent Hill rocked though, but it wasn't all that hard to make. (By the way one of its good points were that the OST was mostly OST taken from the games. That really felt nice to the fans of the series. Hopefully they would make something like it for the Devil May Cry movie, if they'll make an official one).^_^

^ Yeah, that was truly outstanding. I'm a Silent Hill fan and It was quite awesome.

I agree, live action just can't pull it off. This sounds kinda mean but...screw the people who haven't played it, you shouldn't see a movie made from a game if you don't even know what it's about. Same thing with DMC4 and Resi 4, why the hell did people play those not having a clue about the other ones?! At least get educated on it so you won't be confused.

I was playing a game the other day and my aunt walked by, now she has only seen the movies to this game and she began asking me questions about this and that. It was ****ing me off cuz she had it ALL wrong. The live action movies suck and go off the story line most of the time. That's what I think.

They do go off storyline, but where's the guilt of the people that don't play the games on this. Plus, It's a big chance of spreading more the word of Devil May Cry. Best ad ever.

Hearing about something isn't a fact. I had to see the two Resident Evil movies to actually get an inspiration to play the game again.

Let us not forget that 9 out of 10 times the original is better.

If they make a game out of a movie it usually sucks even though the movie could be good. If it doesn't suck, it has many stuff that weren't in the movie.

If they make a movie out of a game it's even worse (usually). Because the game could be 10 hours long while the movie can be 3 hours at most. So it changes/cuts many good stuff or changes stuff. Again if the movie is liked by the ones who watch it, it usually went away from the path of the original game.
