ok even though i support the new DmC i still like only DMC dante more i have yet to see more about DmC dante of how a character he is cant like him by just a few trailers but i am looking forward to the game

I like both Dantes:

I like the original Dante because he's classic, he's a character we've grown used to over the years. But I also like this Dante because he's new, he's different, and thats interesting to me. But as others have said, we know pretty much nothing about this Dante because the game isn't out.

i definitely see what you mean haven, i kinda wished i would've waited to post this topic now that i think about it, but hey when DmC comes out perhaps this thread will be a hot subject :)

Ive never been more interested in dmc since the reboot. Ive always loved the series but sometimes it felt half a$$ed. I like them all because dante is a great charecter design in every single game.
I like them both!

from the little we have seen DmC Dante seems to have the same basic personality as the original Dante. and they both have really impressive abilities. so far most of the differences between the two seem to be things that still allow both to be good characters just in different ways.

DmC Dante's original look was not good but i think the current appearance is as cool as the original Dante. and he seems to have quit smoking in between trailers

as a Half-Angel DmC Dante is likely to lack some of the Half-Human original Dante's more interesting traits but he will probably have a few interesting traits of his own to make up for it.

so i like both.

I think because NT is writing the story, Dante will ultimately seem more involved in this story, and because this is a version of Dante where he is at his youngest, i think Dante will have more conflicting emotions that will be easy to identify without even being human.... similar to Skrek and Donkey

lol shrek and donkey :)

"He could even be like... Dare I say it... NERO."

*sigh* Am I really the only person who liked him?
Nah, I liked him too. Although he's no Dante, he was still a cool kid. =P

But to be on topic, I agree with people who are saying it's too early to make a clear vote since we don't know much about new Dante as of late.

Well for the record, I like them both, but I don't like DmC Dante as much as DMC Dante. DMC Dante will always remain number one in my book. ^^

Just same like me :)

Hellboy would be a better example as even he and some other characters have less in common with humanity than Dante and Trish, they do seem more in tune with humanity and regular people than they do.

Or maybe its the writing.

I have only seen the movies and not read the comics, but I can see what you mean. Hellboy and Dante have alot in common... not appearance wise though. XD

As far as we know.

But i meant in terms of just character similaries. they are both demons trying to be human.

I just think hellboy did it better because of the writers put a little more effort than they did with dante in 4 and the anime.

I like both, actually. DMC Dante will always be one of the greatest, if not the greatest protagonist I've ever followed in a video game (other than my own character in Fallout of course ). I like him because of his ability to be unserious in what should be a morbid situation, but not childish to the point that he's like a ten year old in a man's body. That is a truly hard medium to master in characterization and they hit the mark.
While I don't know this new Dante as much as the original, I like him because from what I've seen in gameplay, he is grittier (not downright gritty, like say, Red Dead Redemption's characters) than the original. From the little snippets of story (emphasis on snippets), I can see that he might be more relatable.

Of course, I will be cautious on that until I see some story trailers.
