That would certainly be a fun idea that could get the community engaged.

My fanon ideas on the series involve things like "After DMC 2 Dante stayed in the Demon World and became its ruler".

I think if it comes out to help promote a game like the anime did with 4, then i think it should have a stronger connection to the game. I'm not saying it has to be a direct sequel or prequel to the game but it shouldn't be as self contained or as far apart from the others that the anime was.
