So I am horrific at keeping house. Like, anyone who ever comes over will have noticed that it always looks like we're in the process of moving in for the first time...I just have zero willpower when it comes to tidying up.

Therefore I have taken the TOMM (The Organised Mum Method) challenge of housework bootcamp to see if I can actually achieve a tidy house and keep it that way.

Yes, I am old and boring. But if I stand on one more errant piece of Lego or trip over another pile of washing, I'll probably abandon my family and live in a tent at the bottom of the garden. A garden which is, by the way, less than 6 metres long. So kind of pointless, really...

I'm thinking omg omg omg it's going to happen aagggh and I can't wait 'til this freakin' Windows update is complete so I can get back to Scrivener...

Writing the second draft of my current writing project and I'm about to proceed into the scene where my main character and an important side character are having a ballroom dance :nailbiting:
The coolest part is that although you might think it is a romantic, all fluffy and cute little dance between lovers, under the starry sky... it is not. It is just part of a psychological game between them. And neither of them is going to win.

I can't handle this, I'm just gonna... just... like... wow. I love these two.
Shipping them hard as hell tho

(Okay I know, I'm sounding very conceited. I can assure you it is unusual. Please, just let me for once in my life enjoy this feeling that my writing really makes sense :D)

I would like to have some thunder here. It's not that hot anymore, but it's getting moist and... I don't know the English word for this kind of weather, but do you know the feeling just before thunder? Like tropical weather, just that you can feel the pressure and the hint of electricity in the air? Maybe someone got it... or maybe it's just a northern thing, I don't know.

I know what you mean! I don't know the word for it either (other than humid, but that only really covers the dampness, I think) but it feels like that during monsoons here. It's such an odd feeling, waiting for a storm to start, and so nice when it finally starts raining. <3

In Finnish language we use the word "oppressive" (as in: "The weather feels so oppressive just before thunder"), but I don't think it's a weather word in English? If anybody knows an English word for it, it would be nice to know :)

The English use every possible word to describe weather. Weather, queuing and the state of the roads: if all else fails, those are our topics of conversation.

Humid weather is sometimes described as muggy or close - like you can almost feel the heavy moisture in the air and it feels damp when you breathe.

A storm I'd be ok with - but it's mid June and we've not had any real summer weather yet. Compared to last year when I'm fairly certain I baked alive, it's such a contrast. I don't even like summer, but this weird smushing of the seasons is annoying. Winter was quite warm, spring was... irrational, and now summer is a mess.

Sounds like it's been pretty similar to our weather so far, too. We've had maybe a few grossly-hot days, but we've been getting a lot more rain this time of year than usual--and the weather's been changing from "cold and autumn like" to "skin-searing heat" and back by the hour. :cautious:

@therogis Oppressive is as good a word as any. That feeling when the air is charged always inspires a sort of anxious anticipation, since here you can never be sure if it's going to just be a thunderstorm or turn into something a lot more violent. (Though we've been pretty lucky where tornadoes are concerned. Usually we're just getting the fringes of it from somewhere else).

CT: Why, brain? Why were you so positive about that scene last night, but now you're second-guessing yourself? Why are we forever in this same cycle of "I'm doing okay with this" and "oh gods, this is terrible"? Why?!

Does anyone know why an Android phone might suddenly start heating up when not being used and eating its battery life up super fast?
