I feel like I don't appreciate Dutch delicacies enough. Syrupwaffles, oilballs, peppernuts... (all literal translations). What are some of you guys' countries' delicacies?
You're not alone. There's a lot of Canadian foods I take for granted, some I didn't even realize were unique to Canada until people asked me what kind of goodies we have. ^^;
Well, a fan favourite for a lot of people would be poutine: fries with cheese curds and gravy. There are other kinds too, with chives, ground beef, bacon, etc. But the basic kind is the one I mentioned. Other stuff we have is maple-flavoured things; lollipops, fudge, cookies...pretty much any sweet you can think of.
Other stuff:
-Beaver Tails (which I've never had, and don't worry--not actually made of beaver, lol).
-Butter tarts (this one legitimately surprised me).
-Nanaimo Bars
-Kraft Dinner (another one that surprised me.)
-Montreal Smoked Meat
Y'know...to name a few.
