Need to remember to pick up my violin when we grab the rice cooker today. If I'm only gonna be sleeping 3 hours a night, I might as well use that time to get better....

+ Okay...I actually updated four times today. o_O Weird. I never post that many chappies in a day.

So I just found a Wikipedia page dedicated to the circumstances of some old family friends and the law for victims of violence in their own home by intruders. Now I knew that there had been some furore over the whole thing back when it happened, but I had no idea it had gotten that sort of interest.

To think, I lived next door to these guys until I was 18 - played with their kids, went to school with them, joined in with Eid and family celebrations with them...wonderful family, wonderful people. Not really a claim to fame but rather an acquaintance with infamy, I guess.

Still, glad the dad got freed from prison - he should never have been put in there in the first place.

What was weird is this man was (and still is) an upstanding member of the community - his father was fairly high up in the local mosque and seriously, we spent ALL our time with their family. Like, every school holiday and weekend. We would go for Eid to their house and they would pop over to give gifts at Christmas. I can remember when the youngest children were born and when they were the first people I knew to get a SNES. When I first read in the paper about what had happened (it was a while ago now), I was completely shocked - and then really angry that he had been done when his attackers had basically gotten away with attempted murder.

I know I moan when you don't give a hoot, but when you do, you go all 'smothering mother' *finds it quite uncomfortable* (what I'm trying to say is... it's easier to be around you when you don't give a damn).

Damn my head hurts...
I'm going to find some SGA Rodney videos...

Man, rendering/uploading has to be the worst step in the video making process. I am all excited ready to put my content up but first I have to go through this annoying 7 hour purgatory stage of doing diddly squat. Meh at least I can get a head start on my next idea

Just saw two families having a big fight about reduced price vegetables at a supermarket. I don't know whether to laugh or despair that people would argue so crudely over something so trivial as vegetables. According to the boy on the till who served me, this fighting happens every Sunday.

Dammit, no sound and now my laptop won't play music... Looks like it's time to get it seen to then.
Same here.

... Not the music thing, but other stuff.

Oh, it's going to get a lot worse as time goes on... this is just the beginning.

Was feeling pretty good, then I found out an old friend of mine passed away from her cancer this morning. I wish...I wish I had been a better friend. I knew she was sick and I should have spoken to her more, tried to reconnect, something. But now.... *regretful**just hopes she's resting well finally*

No point in regretting over what could have been. It'll just bring you down. Focus on the good times you had with this friend and know that they're at peace right now.

Thinking: I do wish they would cancel these ridiculous TV shows. We should not be glorifying stupidity, materialism, laziness and superficiality.
The worst part is it's turning intelligent people, people who are academically capable, into people who rely on their looks, or sponge off of the earnings of others like a parasite.

You're right. I know she wouldn't want any of her friends to be depressed and for us not to worry. It's just hard, though.
Also, I agree about the tv shows. Most of them are just *headwalls*. That's why I avoid tv unless I'm gaming. >_>

Thinking:
O_o My Papaw just won $50 on a $2 lotto ticket I picked out...maybe I need to start playing the lotto myself....
+ Gelato. Gelato. Gelato makes everything better.

I know where you're coming from. I lost one family member to cancer and nearly lost another. It does hit you hard and you start wondering if you spent enough time with that person and all sorts of other things. It may seem pretty bleak right now, but, slowly, you'll be able to make progress and peace with yourself.

Thinking: One of my roomies has just informed me that she accidentally ate some of the bayleaf that I forgot to remove from the chilli. My cooking always goes slightly wrong.
