I'm just thinking over what I saw today on the train...picture the scene. It's a busy train going to Birmingham City Centre at around 9.45am. I get on with my youngest son and this couple also board with their son. The couple are in their late teens at the very least and they are...well, for want of a better term, they are stereotypical white chavs. The ticket conductor checking this particular train is a black guy. The conversation went as follows:
Girl: So what year do I say I was born in to get a child's fare?
Boy: I dunno...(counts on fingers) 98. Tell 'em 98.
Ticket conductor: Tickets?
Boy: Yeah...uh, one and a half to Walsall please mate
Ticket conductor: And who's the child?
Girl: Me
TC: Age?
Girl: ****ing hell i'm 15 you ****ing stupid bastard! you're so ****ing unbelievable!
Boy: you taking the ****? I'll ****ing bounce you right off this train
TC: No need to be abusive
Girl: You know what this is? This is ****ing RACISM!
Gotta love that racism card...
