My favourite band just released a new song and I listened to it the first time this morning and AAAAaaa
Do you have some time to talk about being thankful for your abusers for the strength they gave you and the ability to see the narcissist red flags miles away
After the first year of therapy, when you're already feeling mostly fine and strong, those lyrics are perfect
Thank you for hating me
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Thank you for hating me
I used to lose so much sleep over what you stole from me
But now the tables turned. I'm the lion, you're the sheep
You turn my vulnerability on me like a weapon (Oh-oh)
Taking knifes in the back really taught me a lesson (Oh-oh)
I just wanna thank you
I just wanna thank you
For beating me down, for messing me up
For making me feel I'm not enough
For running your mouth, for showing no love
For setting me off like a loaded gun
Thank you for making me
Stronger than I thought I could ever be
Thank you for hating me
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Thank you for hating me
I know you criticize to hide how much you hate yourself
So here's some money, my friend, go get some help
I feel so sorry for you 'cause you're always gonna be alone (Oh-oh)
The world will know my name not yours, you're my stepping stone (Oh-oh)
I just wanna thank you
I just wanna thank you
For beating me down, for messing me up
For making me feel I'm not enough
For running your mouth, for showing no love
For setting me off like a loaded gun
Thank you for making me
Stronger than I thought I could ever be
Thank you for hating me
I'm moving on, I'm on the mend
'Cause living well is the best revenge
Forever changed, I'm born again
'Cause living well is the best revenge
Thank you for hating me
Thank you for
For beating me down, for messing me up
For making me feel I'm not enough
For running your mouth, for showing no love
For setting me off like a loaded gun
Thank you for making me
Stronger than I thought I could ever be
Thank you for hating me
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Thank you for hating me
So, Citizen Soldier is my absolute favourite band, because for me, their songs give the same energy as my semicolon tattoo. (Check e.g. Thank You For Hating Me or Hallelujah, I'm Not Dead if you don't get it and want to know more.)
But right now it seems that Skillet is providing a fine rival for CS on my survivor playlist as I'm listening to this on loop *_*
Happy to wake up just to feel a massive need to get writing! It's a very special kind of feeling, and this song has since its release been a pretty accurate way to put that feeling to lyrics and musical notes.
It's a band from my country, btw
*whistles* This mental Versailles is much grander than the lies
