A Golden Globe automatically makes him impossible to be Dante? Sorry, but with Heavenly Sword's rather impressive casting (and note most of the actors/actresses in the game had no previous experience with Motion Capturing), I really don't think that Jonathan Rhys Meyers is out of the question.
Who are the actors for Heavenly Sword? I don't know any of them. The only one i know is Andy Serkis. The other people are probably well known in their native country, but not around the world. Unlike JRM who is known around the world. You're basing this off of acting alone when its of recognition. JRM is almost a A-List celebrity. I think you're just hoping for way too much out of this game.
You do realize that actors are capable of changing their voices, right? :O That's part of the point with
acting (voice acting especially). :$ I should know, considering I plan to be a voice actor one day.

That said, they don't always announce the cast initially, you know. And I imagine (though I could be wrong), there was a bit of a wait as to when the games were initially announced, and when he mentioned "Oh yeah, Andy Serkis is in this game, so yeah, Gollum fans everywhere need to flock on over here for this game.", so on so forth.
Changing their range a bit yes. But their is always a hint of there original voice. And also, JRM is not a renowned voice actor. There's no way he can change his voice like say sumone Andy Serkis convincingly. You're giving JRM way too much credit in an area he has no experience in.
Uh, I'm not so sure about that. Already stated on how actors have range of voices and accents (at least some, and JRM's among them) and as for Tameem announcing it, who knows? Maybe he wanted fans to calm down before he added in Reuben Langdon's replacement into the mix; let's be honest here, Reuben is pretty much the overall fan-favorite of Dante's voice actors thus far. With all of the changes and what-not that DmC has already established with only a single trailer, and NT already predicting the fanbase reaction, perhaps they figured to wait and spare at least the cast for a while.
JRM can only take away his native Irish accent...AT TIMES. I still notice a hint of it in sum of his movies and shows. He doesn't sound like sumone who can have a deep voice. That's why Johnny Yong Bosch mostly voices young guys and Steve Blum voices more deeper, raspy men.
Reuben Langdon has already said he's not working on DmC. And for me personally he's not my fave DMC voice actor for Dante. That goes to Drew Coombs (DMC 1 Dante's VA). Reuben made a great young Dante in DMC 3. But...yeah sooner or later he had to be replaced. But since DmC is about the young Dante...its kinda stupid they replaced him. But then again, Reuben's acting isn't that great anyway.
Hey, we're only considering that he might be a possibility, Vampi. Nothin' wrong with it, and while you do have a point on Developers basing their characters on celebrities, there really isn't any evidence against him NOT being Dante, so far it is a battle of logic (you) vs logic AND uncanny resemblance between JRM and Dante, NT having a history of using rather impressive actors (General Orvov's actor from the 80s Bond films was also in Heavenly Sword, btw) and motion capturing (us).
The thing is its not possible with the evidence it shows (again the voice over doesn't match JRM). Also, Tameem would've announced it. Its not sum huge secret to divulge whose playing Dino since saying the VA's name isn't compromising the game.
So i guess if i made a cartoon that looked exactly like JRM, that automatically means he must be played by JRM. Cause ya know, if a character looks like particular celebrity then that celebrity that there based on must be playing it. You know how ridiculous that sounds. Even licensed movie games don't use the movies actors for voices.
NT does cast good actors. The difference is their unknown with Andy being the slight exception. Other then that its probably actors who are practically unknown or had a noticeable career years ago, or even decades ago. Sumthing JRM is nowhere near of as of late.
That said, if you're right about it (which you very well could be), I'll be the first to admit I'm wrong. ^_^
