Awake

Under the Promised Flag
Greg has confirmed that Vergil will have a story that sets place before DMC 3 but his battles are non canon

First no real Vergil/Trish/Lady being actually integrated into the main DMC4 story
Then no physical disc purchase outside Japan
priced DLC
now this?
Remind me why I should be excited for DMC4: SE?

I kinda Figured they would Do Something like this

I Don't know if this is game play or Vergil in the Opening Cutscene of Mission 2 Taking Nero's Place, we also have Vergil Repeating Dante's dialogue. what i am saying is this might be like Dead rising off the Record where Instead of Nero and Dante we get the same story but told through Vergil's perspective. if that is the case Vergil is going to be getting more then just an opening and ending cutscene, to tell you the Truth i think that's pretty cool if they are going with an off the record style for this..so many Fan's wanted frank back for Dead rising 2 that they re-made the game but made him the star.

Playable Vergil in DMC 3: SE had non-canon devil arms during gameplay as well (he started with access to all of his weapons). This is no different.

How is it that his DMC4 model actually looks older than his model did in DMC3 (if these events take place beforehand)?

I can understand if this took place sometime after DMC3 (or even DMC1), but this right here is beyond my comprehension.

It's been many years since DMC 3's Vergil was modeled, and he does look admittedly older in the concept and CG art for that game. I think it's fair to say he looks a bit younger than DMC 4 Dante from the footage we've seen, so it's most likely down to them having much better tools to make Vergil look the way they desire now.

If he looks older to you, it may simply be down to the artist's interpretation. Either way, I certainly think he's always looked older than we've been told, even in DMC 3. I mean, there's no way that guy was still in his teens, but I give precedence to Itsuno's intentions.

My problem is, that according to different sources out there, Vergil and Dante were supposed to have just turned 19 (it was presumably their birthday when DMC3 took place) at that time.

Now, thanks to this new art here, Vergil looks like he's in his late 20's to early 30's. >_>

Well, it's been established that the cutscenes are entirely separate from the campaign (like in DMC 3: SE), and if they just so happen to be making a DMC 3 Dante skin anyway, it could mean a small appearance. I still doubt it, but nothing's off the table at this point. After all, Dante demonstrated no prior knowledge of the Order of the Sword, so if he does show up it would only be in relation to Vergil or forces unknown to Dante.

*raises hand* I'll admit, I'm one of the people who was hard to convince. Ironically, my willingness to speculate about something tends to decrease in relation to my love for it.

Even so, you could have equally salient emotional motivations for wanting it to occur before DMC 3 or after DMC 1 (perhaps focused on Nero if before, confirmation Vergil survived if after).
