So What About Guys Like Me?

Ninja Theory has been trying to appeal to DMC fans by adding elements from past games. However, they haven't added elements from DMC 1 and I'm a DMC 1 fan more than I am a fan of the other games. So how exactly are they going to appeal to guys like me?

Any thoughts?

Not at all, since DMC3 redefined the series into what it is now and NT is focusing on recreating the feel of 3 and 4, not 1 and 2. Both were great games, but they were nothing like the later ones.

I understand that they are trying to recreate 3 and 4's feel, they've already added DMC 2's enemy design as an element. So I'm hoping that they at least add something from DMC 1. They would really be better for it

by making the final boss sooo hard you'll need 8 holy waters and 3 hours free

Mundus wasn't that hard. All you need is 2 or 3 Devil Stars to keep your trigger up.

Seriously?! If it's that difficult, then i'll have no drive to play the game. :(

Actually, it's not all that hard (the third time around). You just have to pick up on the strategies needed to beat each enemy. Though Mundus is pretty easy (doesn't take much to beat him). Nelo Angelo's the toughest boss on DMC 1. Sin Scissors an Sin Scythes are the hardest enemies you'll face and there not all that hard either.

.

i was just joking m8. tbh i dont think itll be similar to DMC1 game play wise but will be similar story wise. i think the way it relates to DMC1 is just like @choco said: we'll see a development in Dantes personality. his character will change for better or worse. establishing him as the new devil hunter. i

I feel you, homie. I'm on the same boat as you so I'll level with ya', they don't care about us. When they try to appeal to the DMC audience they mostly want to appeal to the DMC3 and 4 fans. They are the most recent and DMC3 is, according to most, the pinicle of the franchise, so most elements that they use and take from the original franchise will come from those games. Everything else will be their original matterial. I dissagree but I douth anyone cares. It's nice to see

I was talking about Sanctus, not mundus. Everyone is talking about difficulty. When i think of DMC and difficulty, i think of Sanctus... if the new game has a last boss that is that difficult.... I'll go mad.

Regards to DMC1 Mundus was easy.

How DmC relates to past games, me thinks.

DMC1: Mundus is the bad guy.

DMC2: Wider areas(?) Environmental designs, cities, factories, and so forth. Some enemy designs.

DMC3: Dante's young, cocky, Vergil might be a major part of the game, etc.

DMC4: The Order(?) Like 50% of Dante's moves are from Nero's arsenal.

really? how so, so far only like...two moves are like neros' and even so. i liked a lot of neros moves. the red queen combos where interesting. i perticularly liked the one where he smashed his enemy again and again like his sword was a hammer. actually conveyed his short temper and immaturity. but other than that i agree with you.

0:50/ Roulette spin

0:57/ High roller

1:01/ Dante did streak in the gamescom trailer 2011

What do you think DmC is missing from part 1?

Sluggish controls? Fixed camera's? Loading screen?

in all fairness thats three of how many moves. PLUS high roller isnt that much of a copy. Dante had one in DMC4 aaandd the game is all about areial combat so youve gotta let that one slide. as for roulette spin. yh its a copy. but hey least it looks cool. and for streak. well its a basic move so im giving it a pass :D

I'd like a completely new direction for the series (by that I mean in terms of art style, story telling, etc).

While I still love DMC1's gothic atmosphere, (still being one of my favorites in the series) I'd like something fresh.

Mundus as our main Antagonist is really all We need. DMC 1 is the best, but even I would agree it's very dated. Fixed Camera angles don't go down a treat with most either.

I would actually like to play DMC1. I can't exactly judge until I play it for my self. Also DmC is taking things from DMC1. Mostly the novels of DMC1. The novels talked about Dante's early life so I guess that's what this game is doing. Also Mundus is the main baddy here so that counts. Plus DmC is going back to what DMC1 tried to do, and make a more darker story while still keeping comidic humor.

I got the HD collection and it had been forever since I had played any of the games, but if, for example, you play DMC3 and then move over to DMC1, you will see how exactly outdated DMC1 is. I got used to the controls after a while, but everything about that game is slower than the rest of them. You had incredibly annoying fixed camera angels, you actually had to hold down the trigger to shoot while on the ground for some reason, styles appeared in DMC3 so forget about that, the story was horrible given to you (note I'm talking about what was happening in the game, the whole actual story is awesome), and Dante had the cheesiest most awkward lines in the universe. If anything, back in the days it was fun, it is still today as long as you put a blind eye to all of this, and it gave birth to an incredibly good series.... and DMC2.

I never said Nero's moves were bad. Like I personally prefer streak over stinger any day. But the new Dante plays a lot like Nero, not only in terms of moves but in his mechanics. He has a basic four hit main attack with his sword as opposed to Dante's three hitter, same as Nero (not to mention Rebellion Combo B makes an X shape slash, another one of Nero's basic combos), and his whips work exactly like Nero's devil snatch.

Besides that, I have seen as many Nero moves as I have seen Dante's. I can probably count you down and it would be a pretty much equal amount on both sides with Dante winning by a hair. Since many of the rest of the moves are new and neither Nero or Dante ever had them to begin with.
