Resident Evil (and survival horror in general), kind of disappoints me now...

There's a glimpse of a woman with blonde hair, and I think that could be the returning villain, Maria. Knowing what Capcom are like though, I wouldn't be surprised if they felt inclined to ignore that previous film's events and bring in somebody new, because that's what they're always usually doing. Meh.

Other than that, it's awesome to have Jill back, at long last. Although I would have preferred her more classic look, as that redesign of hers really ain't the best. It also reminds me too much of that trashy RE3 remake from 2020, where they cut out more than half the original game's content, ruined Nemesis, left out Barry, and several locations were only seen in the background. Etc.

Anyway, I'll embed the trailer.

At least Leon doesn't look as bad as Chris does in RE7.

Whoever cast that dude in that game, needs to educate him or herself on the general mythology of the franchise.

Yep. The remake is shaping up to be quite awesome.

I found myself getting bamboozled after a while. Like, there's more puzzles in this remake. Why do that to the one action heavy, beloved game?

Silly, silly Capcom. :P

It does for me, and I love the **** out of it. I find the remake so much better than the original.
Well, heck its not the worst but I dont want to play it at all. How about this one instead

It looks interesting, already played the demo several times. Also about the brainrot enshitified nonsense happening all over now accelerated with LLM or Agents you can call them. At least I would not call it AI. At least not yet if at all. The increased use of AI in games by dev or indie devs are worrying. At least before you could drop the triple A for indie devs. Still I think there are more to find in the indie dev sphere. Just look at Silksong or E 33.

More for me then.

I am interested in a lot of upcoming Capcom games this year. This, RE9, and the new Onimusha.

Most AAA I don't bother with, and the indies who do use generative AI, I check Steam first for any tags. Also, Capcom wants nothing to do with generative AI.

Summarized in the second link.

Also, Capcom wants nothing to do with generative AI.

I mean, they can say that, but at this point I think it's pretty naive to think there's any dev company out there, especially big ones, that don't use gen AI in *some* capacity within their development processes.

Whether we like it or not, AI is way too convenient a tool for devs to forego its use. They're using it. They just don't wanna say it.

If i'm wrong then I am wrong. Otherwise, I trust at least Capcom when it comes to a large company. I don't bother with the majority of AAA devs. I know there are some indies that are doing this too, but I have a list. Considering AI is costing most of these companies money, but they're too dumb to admit it and only now showing concern with the investors. The bubble's gonna burst at some point. It's just a matter of how long they want to drag this out. Though of course, when at bubbles burst, they don't suffer.

Now onto something more positive. Here are some old schools, survival horror type games coming out from the indie scene, or are already been out for a while now. Echoes of the Living, Hollow Body, and Ground Zero. The first 2 games on the list have been out for a while and the third game comes out later this year.

BTW, I loved and played the Dead Space Remake back in 2023. I did not like Callisto Protocol. Cronos: The New Dawn is a good horror game.

When the bubble burst or if but I think more of when. I think its not just the average user that are going to get hurt. Ed Zitrons take on the bubble sounds very plausible to me. About the use of gen ai in games. Its really going to be difficult to have either triple A or indie devs not using it in any form. Tech are constantly being more digital and the goverment are stupid just following along. How do you escape it I dont know. I kind of like Capcom and respect them but they are not free from criticism either and of course they are huge and shown several times how the end product might not always be the first priority. Even if the workers themselves at Capcom might be doing good work. At some point neither Capcom or the people working at Capcom or any other will be forced to use some more gen ai and other tools. It kind of sounds bleak. Still there are some interesting titles worth checking out. The new Resident Evil 9 looks fine enough. Hopefully they made Leon look better in that one. At least a bit. I dont get why Capcom try make people in games so realistic. It just kills the immersivness. Make a movie instead with real actors instead or make a game. Why try to combine those unless your former games have always been that way. Thats why I stayed clear of RE4 Remake and Resident Evil 3. I barely managed to get through Resident Evil 2 remake but thats all. Well time will show I guess.

Both Dino Crisis games have snuck on to Steam today.
