Overall how do you guys feel about direction DMC is going?

In my personal opinion that is a horrible idea what wouldn't work for so many reasons I dont know where to start but to eaches own.

Well like i said everyone has their opinion, but everyone thinks the original is dead which it still could recover if Capcom would actually do something with the series. Nero was at least human and showed emotion for his loved one, like Sparda did for Eva im sure. Nero was good and i enjoyed playing as him. Vergil isnt dead, it never stated he was, it said he was defeated, not killed. Mundus may have been sealed but that doesnt mean its not possible for his return to try once more for control, and having Dante, Vergil, and Nero going against him well then that would be interesting. Like Mundus would somehow get Sparda's power and became stronger than he was before.

They just need to finish the original instead of killing it off and leaving it at a cliff hanger, imo. Finish the series and then start fresh. I really dont give high hopes for this game anyways. Even Hideki Kamiya hates the direction of the series and he is the original creator.

I personally hated Nero, your really stretching the Vergil thing since even if we go with your argument that Vergil somehow survived that final battle with Dante I'm quite sure Mundus would have killed Vergil for his failure, Mundus being a villian again wouldn't really lend any relevance because we kicked his ass in the first game so we'd just go "k well just kick your ass again." (this is of course ignoring the fact that he was sealed away for 2k years), Dante kicked Mundus ass on his own there would be no reason for the three to team up (not only that but as we know Dante and Vergil can't along for more then one mission before Vergil's power hungry nature gets the best of him), I wouldn't really consider the ending of 4 a cliff hanger as nothing was really left to tell (ignoreing Nero's origins which most people give no ****s about), Lastly Hideki Kamiya's opinion means nothing to me he made one DMC game and is kinda a prick anyway, besides Itsuno made DMC 3. (which is widely accepted to be the best one and better then the first.)

I feel sad about it. The game didn't need the damn reboot. Even if we will get DMC5 later. DmC will still a black hole in the gaming history. So there's nothing I can do other than accepting DmC and enjoy it. But I want to get DMC5 and see old Dante again more than this.

I would love one more rumble personally, especially if they just said screw it and went all out adding all the characters/weapons/styles in the series. I wouldn't care how much DLC there was hell I'd even pay for re-vamped sections of old games in the new style (DMC1 level with marionettes etc ending with Phantom or something)
I think there are plenty of places they could go with the story to tie things up and anyone who says otherwise just doesn't have a big enough imagination ;)

But alas, I can dream.

I like the direction of where it's going. It's taken a series that's strengths were it's combat and action; and attempted to make it more serious and added emotions to it in the sense that Dante, Vergil and Kat come across like human beings. DMC3 and 4 carried more of an anime style to them, it's nice DmC is leaning more to the atomsphere that DMC1 originally had in being serious but with this humor tossed in there too :3

I think it was the right choice, just been a rocky road for as many of us to see that. I think it's a worthy game, the gameplay stronger than I've seen in anything for a while and the story's got me interested enough that it's been fun brainstorming trying guess what's going to happen and analyzing the characters with little to go on like in the early days (I'm going to miss doing that lol.)

I definitely want to see more of the world after DmC, for sure, that and how they'd portray characters from the previous series in this version.

Well not everyone hated Nero, you might have because you werent able to run around as Dante the whole time, so your reason is irrelevant. Vergil still being alive is not really stretching it honestly, seeing the pendant and Mundus being sealed away doesnt mean he would have had control over Vergil still, so im sure he would have gotten away. So whats is going to make this reboot game any different? Mundus is the big bad wolf in this reboot so they are throwing in aspects from DMC 1, 3 and 4 and some of 2. I dont seeing an interesting plot/story coming from this if Mundus is the big guy in this one. You ask me, its not honestly a reboot, its a bunch of rehashed stuff from the original series thrown together as a game. Again, being sealed for 2000 more years doesnt mean within those years he would escape to get revenage, seeing him actually die would have made the series end better, and even if Dante and Vergil were to team up, how do you know that Vergil didnt change and wouldnt want to revert back to the power hungry one we know?

I believe people still ask about Nero's origins, so only those who didnt like Nero i can see saying this, like yourself. Of course its not going to matter to you because your not a gamer design so i can see where your thoughts are coming from and sure Itsuno may have made DMC 3 but Hideki Kamiya had a part in it so he was still part of the project.

And if Hideki would have stayed i could have seeing DMC

People honestly dont have the imagination anymore for original series.

Honestly ( and it will not be surprising to everyone here) I really don't like where its going.

I gave it the benefit of the doubt with the demo (And I kept hearing Over reactive people saying its hard as hell, honestly DMD didn't even seem hard when I was watching the stream they did since he seemed to almost forget that he had Angelic dodge.), and it just felt more GoW then DMC, and the story is to bland. For Casual Gamers its fine, but to me it just takes the fun out of the feel of DMC as a whole.

But hey opinions are opinions.

I agree Dusk i think the original could have continued but i guess people dont believe so because their reason is because of DMC 2

I was against it when it was announced and am still against it now, I just don't see the reason for this change. However, as I have mentioned in one of my comments before, the DmC demo was pretty enjoyable and I have high expectations for the game. I believe it will be a great game, it's just that I still can't get over the fact that the DMC I loved and grew up with is gone, at least for now.

Best you can do is not think about it as being gone, even "at least for now." It's still there, and there are no plans in the works to just abandon it. Developers used to take time off from developing sequels to pursue other ideas, now, we all just expect them to churn out new installments one after another.

It's almost better if we give them time to collect themselves, see what else they can do, and come back and make a better installment because of the time away.

Perhaps but honestly i think if they are to continue the series later on down the road they should at least use this design (picture below) im guessing it was early thoughts for Dante for DMC 4

im not happy at all if i were given DMC5 or what ever they wanted to call it then make a reboot fine but this is not how i wanted DMC to go

I bet Kamiya actually hates everything about DMC after DMC1, but that's what you get if you don't keep your series in your own hands...

Kamiya actually misses the old Dante so he cares and isnt a all the be prick. The Novels are apparently not canon but are canon in their own universe but then again it has the same characters in the from DMC 4 so i dont know honestly.

Yeah but which one of these "old Dantes" does he miss, every game in the old series kinda reboots him, DMC3 is the only one with a direct link to DMC1 :P

Well.... you have a point because of the cutscene at the end of the game, they should have done that and showed how they progressed within the series instead of having where it would start off at. So i will give you that one lol

I'm actually glad lock-on is gone, and I feel that the combos feel natural.
However, some more depth could be added to the Style Meter and the Mission Rating.
Overall, the story is fantastic, the gameplay is entertaining, and I'm very excited to see all the new possibilities.

Also, I am hoping that the original series will continue alongside this new DmC. It be great to see Capcom and NT take turns between development. (DmC, DMC5, DmC2, DMC6, etc)
