ok, this has been an argument between my father and i for awhile. he thinks it's a great idea, i think it's not only dumb, but dangerous. would any of u put a harley motor on a wheelchair? im in a wheelchair and my dad wants to put a harley motor on it.

How can that even be a discussion? If your dad wants you to move faster, get an electronically motorized one. Don't put a motor bike engine in a wheel chair...

Hm, seems to me that this might be your dad...

MORE POWER!!!

But in all seriousness, a wheelchair doesn't have enough weight to counteract the power that the motor is going to produce...so you will get everywhere, REALLY fast, but its doubtful if you will have any control ^^

Bad idea methinks.

It sounds like a good idea in theory, and would be a fun thing to do but don't. Unless you reduce the power(by alot) and get it under control then no. Don't do it.

That's basically impossible! The weight of the Harley Motor will just basically crush ya wheelchair^_^ If it were possible.... you'd end up dead it a matter of either minutes or seconds. (I also asked my 71yr old grandad who rides a Harley Davidon -_-

Only a person with tiny brain could of come up with such a idiotic idea:dry: no offence or anything =]

When I was looking at being in a wheelchair myself I was all up for customising it because, let's face it, wheelchairs suck and motorised ones are SLOW.

However, whilst that particular motor may not be the best idea, why not run it by a specialist company who design/make bespoke chairs? I'll bet you there is something that will be speedy yet safe to accommodate your needs and your dad's wants. You don't just whack any old motor onto something else (it's not Jackass, after all) but you can modify it or find something of a compromise which keeps you safe but not feeling like an tortoise being overtaken by the elderly in the street.
