When Nero 'summons' Yamato, because the Devil Bringer absorbed it does Yamato have a physical form or is it a 'phantom' blade (just wondering).

Also, in the game, how do you get Nero to use Yamato. (on the xbox 360 version of DMC4.)

Don't you just devil trigger to use it? Haven't played for a while, but I think you need to activate his DT to use it. I stand to be corrected.

Yamato, being a Devil Arm, has been a demon before, thus, has had a physical form. The spectral demon appearing behind Nero, is none other but Yamato himself, manifested as a ghost - mimicking Nero's actions - as Nero is the Devil Arm's wielder.

PS3/X360/PC all have the same option for using Yamato with Nero, and that is, after Mission 6 - RESURRECTION, or better said - after Nero gains the Devil Triggering ability

It is to be noted Nero utilizes Yamato only while in the Devil Trigger state.

^Just to expand slightly...

When DT'd as Nero, you have use of Maximum Bet and Showdown as Nero.
Both moves are executed by pressing both Devil Bringer and Sword (X and Y for Xbox) together while pressing forward or back on the control stick.

Maximum Bet: Back+S+DB (hold for greater effect)
Showdown: Forward+S+DB

However, Nero cannot use Yamato in the same way he uses Red Queen, he must use it in conjunction with Red Queen. When the familar Knight is summoned in DT he will uise Yamato in his right hand as Nero uses Red Queen in his left hand -- mimicking (Mirroring) Neros Sword Movements -- this offers greater power and reach.

I wish Nero could've used it as a primary weapon so that we could see its power in combat unleashed once more... ^^

The novel claims there is 2 version of Devil Arms. The first version is a demons that has been defeated and his soul is turned into a Devil's Arm with his acceptance or not(usually Dante forces them). The second is a weapon that was crafted with demonic power like the Yamato ,Rebellion and Sparda, basically just a weapon with demonic powers. Well the Sparda sword is kinda like both versions because of the Force Edge so I'm not sure. Anyway the Yamato and Rebellion's power belongs to no demon.

I always thought that the demon behind Nero was Vergil's DT, but, it doesn't look like Vergil's DT. Now i'm thinking that Yamato maybe does carry a demon's soul... perhaps a part of the demon that forged the blade?
(just a guess.)

I understand the first bit of what Zat-OW said about the novel, like when Dante defeats Agni and Rudra and gets the two swords.

Defeated demons, or weapons forged with demonic souls, It's the same - the Devil Arms possess a demon soul.

The Devil Bringer, being a default demonic arm, independent from the Devil Trigger state, simply projects the soul of the Devil Arm, which in Nero's case, the Yamato.

And who is the ghost appearing behind Nero, then - Santa Claus?!

No, its Nero's own soul. Didn't you read the Novel? So Nero is appearing behind Nero like an avatar. This is why when Nero talks the DT talks and when Nero moves the DT moves. But that was very obvious. The voice Nero heard in his head was his own inner self/demon calling for power. This is when Vergil appears in his dream after Agnus stabs him and asks Nero "What is your soul saying?...Power!"

I've read that part.

But that would mean his Devil Trigger is pre-mature, since he cannot absorb his inner demonic self to become a demon.

Damn, i can't get the novel anywhere.

So, with Nero's arm being 'demonic'. Is Nero human, 1/4 demon or whatever?

Nero is a demon and was born one at that. Dante doesn't know who Nero is and at then end of the Novel Dante said he really didn't care as long as he was family which he knew only that much. Dante admits that he will pass the torch to Nero also which is lame.So Nero is still unknown.

Do you think Nero knows who he is.

Now we're in the field of speculation... Wait... Let me correct myself...

When we're talking about Nero, we ARE in the field of speculation already...

And Zato, I wouldn't take the DMC4 NOVEL too seriously. It hasn't been even considered canon yet.

Well seeing as the Novel was on the DMC4 website for sale, I would bet that it will be cannon. But that's just me. If the anime was cannon then I'm sure the Novel will be too which is lame. Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of the information from the Novel but some stuff is just....ugh. It explains a lot of info needed, like Dante's aging,DA's and whether Vergil is alive or not. On the other hand it confuses you on who Nero truly is and gives lame excuses how Nero got his game(Black Blanket...well it kinda makes sense I guess) and Vergil sleeping with a prostitute(only speculated but still a lame excuse to be the father of Nero).

Edit** What Nero did get from the Yamato in his DT was the mutated sheath on his left arm.

Well, having exclusive Devil May Cry 4 content, It has no other chance but to be sold in the DMC4 website. That doesn't mean It has been confirmed as canon by Capcom. I doubt It will be. It explains stuff but on the cost of lame excuses, which is no go for us, fans of this franchise.

I only know about the prostitute thing from DMC3 code 2 Vergil.
It's stuck in my mind very well (and cut very deep). Why would a man like Vergil (honorable etc) sleep with a prossy, it's.... just stupid and dis-honorable!!
It Makes me mad!

(Off topic a bit, what are the chances of Sparda still being alive? Seeing that sources say he disappeared and didn't die. Thanks Capcom!!! Something else to confuse me!)
