My opinion; either a DmC2 or no more DMC games!

I just wanted to get this off my chest because this has been bothering me since after the release week of DmC. If you're an old fan and if you want a DMC5 that badly, then it's best if you stay away, other than that, I warned you!

Anyways, here it goes....

I, for one don't even want a DMC5 to be made, EVER! It's not because of the story (though it's one of the reasons but not the main one), it's not about the character development, it's because I'm afraid that the original series might die painfully by being milked to death or not selling well like they used to. I mean, if you guys see how some gaming franchises are doing like the DBZ, Naruto (starting to...), Call of Duty, etc. at its current state, you would clearly understand. If DMC4 did so well by everyone liking it and didn't complain about the story, don'tchall think we would've been playing a DMC5 now instead of DmC? Think about that! Let me repeat, if DMC4 was good to EVERYONE'S standards, then we would've been playing DMC5 by now!

Some people have been saying that people didn't really ask for DmC, and I actually agree with them, BUT Capcom overheard half the fanbase asking for something new, so this is what they got. Hell, I was also one of the fans who though the original ones were starting to get stale after DMC4. Do I think DmC is the best Devil May Cry game? Not really, as much as I love it.

IMO, DMC3>DmC>DMC1>DMC4>DMC2.

Seriously...DmC is selling well like a hack n' slash game would. Capcom and NT didn't come this far to get bashed by little things. I respect people's opinions and all but when you go too far by nitpicking every little thing, that's what gets me mad, and I'm SURE I'm not the only person here who feels that way! So yeah I just wanna state my opinion that Capcom should just LEAVE the original games behind and focus on DmC, don't go back, because I KNOW they didn't make the reboot just for the money.

Thanks for reading. Agree or disagree with me.

The thing is, there's just not a big market amnymore for the hack and slash games, plus when DMC1 was out, the game market was a lot stronger with more sales.

As for me, I would want a DMC5, but only to finish the story and tie up the loose ends. I wouldn't want more after that, no Nero spinoff, no DMC6 in case the games get run into the ground.
Then I'd want DmC2 and whatever else they had planned for the DmC brand. ^_^

While the others want it just to freaking show off combos and constantly compare it to DmC. I could imagine them doing that. They don't even care if the campaign was like.... a couple hours long. Games nowadays need to have a balance between gameplay, story, and value.
Yep, that is very true. It would be best if all games had a good balance between story, gameplay and value. If they combined maybe the action of the old DMC with the story of DmC, I'd be happy. Not that I didn't like the action in DmC, but there is room to improve. I'm hoping if there is a DmC2 that this will happen.

Providing Capcom learns from DmC...but then again what can you expect from them:/

Well, I'd love to see a DMC5, especially if that one would focus a bit more on Sparda.
However, I do see your point and to be honest, as long as I get to play games that feel like DMC3/4 I am satisfied. By the way, I'm only talking about the gameplay here, not DMC4's mediocre story.

DmC is a great game and the combat system is something you could easily build upon - should they refine and extend it and actually put some effort into DmC2's (in case they ever release it) bosses, then they should have a nice franchise.

The way I see it, the reason why the DMC-series was eventually put to rest was the aftermath of DMC2 - it just left them no opportunity whatsoever to put a decent story in any game taking place after it.

You don't want a Devil May Cry 5? What are you, crazy?
I really want to see the continuation of DmC as well, if not more than Devil May Cry 5, but you seriously don't even slightly want the fifth installment to Devil May Cry? The orignal series is why we're all here!

Although, if they're going to do it poorly, we're better off.

True, true. But, like I said, I'm scared for one cuz it might end up like a rehash like 4.

While I'd like some closure on that odd DMC2 ending, I totally wouldn't mind if DMC5 didn't exist. The DMC fanbase who want some crazy combat and nothing more have plenty of Platinum games like Anarchy Reigns and MGR to have fun with.

The fans who care about more than just "truestyle" or whatever have DmC.

Just because I point out how stupid the original series can be doesn't mean I hate it. I wouldn't be a Devil May Cry fan if I did. The original is still my favorite out of them all just for nostalgic heartstrings and memories but DmC is up there tied for a number 2 spot along with 3. I hate 2 and 4 but if I had to say it I'll admit I like 2 better than 4 because I really hated what 4 represented. Still hate 2 but I hate 4 the most out of them all. As for the next one to be DmC 2 then hell yes. DmC holds alot of potential and I don't want them to look back now because this is the way to go no matter what those fanatical fanboys think. I would only be cool with a DMC 5 if they stuck with this kind of gameplay from now on because I don't want to see styles anymore. DmC's playstyle is actually more convenient and just more comfortable. It all flows very nicely together. Also it's time for Devil May Cry to leave the generic anime bs. I love anime, but I like good ones and DMC doesn't make a good one. It has to be more entertaining. If I see another DMC 4 then I'm done with Devil May Cry for good.

How about no DMC? I mean like, ever again?

I don't think even a Vergil-exclusive game could catch my interest at this point... :/

What I'm saying is, DmC is done. DMC4 is more-or-less done. Capcom could barely make the story cover half a game, let alone a full one at this point.

If someone else besides Capcom wants to do a "classic" DMC, then I think they should just start all over again with a rema--

I agree with you on a lot of points man, DMC4 was kind of like Capcom spitting in my face after being so happy with DMC3 and being given the mediocre(but excellent combat system still in tact)DMC4 I was over the series. I can understand wanting closure but the DMC games don't even seem to have much of a plot to give closure on, I mean, they jump all over the place were never really good and never had much of a point other than being the skeleton for a great combat system and looking cool. Seems like Capcom never had much of a story to tell at all in the first place so we would not really miss anything in that department because in their hands it's likely to be just as bad as all the rest.

I thinkDmC2 has way more potential because although the plot was not perfect it was better than anything else in the series and NT actually seemed to give two ****s about it. The combat, while not as good as the DMC3 and 4, has great potential if they build upon it and given another game could be as good as the previous DMC games. The other thing is that Capcom at this point has no interested in making a DMC game themselves anytime soon. Kamiya is long gone and A Capcom and Platinum Games collaboration seems like a pipe dream and Itsuno and most of his team were tired of DMC after 3 and just winged it with 4 and are now moving on to stuff like Dragon's Dogma and as far as combat goes, a DMC5 not put in their hands would be horrible as they are the best fitted to at least create a stellar battle system

No originally they were going for 5mil then with all the fan backlash they lowered it to 2mil.

Looks like someone fails at reading comprehension!

Here, lemme post this again for you with proper emphasis, k?

Lol no. They only wanted 2 million sales. You have no proof except some misquote that they were going for 5 mil.

The answer to this post is not to spout some misinformed opinion insisting the same thing I just said was straight-up wrong. It's, lemme help you out here so you don't get lost, getting a quote or pulling a source with official sales figures. Can you do that?

I think you may have been right I'm sorry

Exactly. The DMCs old stories were crap at best. But, they were just something Team Little Devil slapped together. It was really about the gameplay. It's why we play. For the gameplay, the insanity, THE AWESOMENESS of the combat. I want DMC5 if they give us the combat of the old games. Make some crap story about Vergil coming back because the stories were weak. But I want DmC2 more and would completely disregard any DMC5 if DmC2 cranked it up to 11 with the combat. I mean, completely dig in and have fun. Then DMC5 would be pointless.
