MORE!! Much more new footage from PlaystationAccess!!

Yeah, there is a lot of explaining to do.
Woops. Looks like there is more than six chains.

Two more behind him this time. I can't really make out if his arms are restrained, they don't look like they have chains to them.

Yeah. My curiosity is killing me right now.

Wait! isn't that angel statue on the last picture holding Osiris?

The Blue Rose allows him to access his mother's side. That's why he gets the Ophion when he activates it.

Oh...that explains it. That's why he got Ophion and why there is Osiris in the background. Hence the colour blue.
Hmm...it seems that Angel statue is beside that warrior like being. Like his aide.
Seeing how they aren't any other angels than her, it's a statue of Sparda and Eva I say.

But I don't recall Sparda having wavy hair like a classic German composer.

What I find even more confusing is that they posted a concept art picture of this statue on the official Devil May Cry twitter not too long ago, and said that this statue was a WOMAN (O_O);;
I don't know how reliable their twitter is, but if this is true then... *confused*

Eh?...wh, what!?
This is one of the most curious oddities ever in this game...but thanks for the info.

The "secret area" is obviously tied to his past, or his lineage, as a whole. Blue Roses take him there, and breaking those chains may have nothing to do with his parents, or everything. Before the video cuts out from there, it looks like Eva is trying to tell Dante something.

But remember - the secret areas are not DmC's Secret Missions - those are found by opening sealed doors with keys. The Blue Roses and the secret area are something story-related, not mission-related.

It's highly likely that the statue is female or ambiguous. You don't need to look like a woman yo.
Nice find Crush! I wonder if the right side is holding the glaive or another weapon entirely (it looks like a spear in some images).

That might be the Aquila

Great new footage! I must say I find it very reassuring that at nearly every opportunity Tam talks about player control and the level of responsiveness that DMC demands.

I think the secret world ( if it's called that) is basically a metaphor.

Dante must travel inside of his own mind, in order to unlock events that were already there. It's something like "you know there is something there, but you're not sure about it".

The chains are what keep blocking Dante's mind. The giant statue is basically Dante's memory chained to elements that prevent him to remember his full life story.

Once all the chains broken and released, the giant statue ( Dante's mind) will be free, thus leading Dante to enter that place and talk to his mother. That's the place where the relationship between Dante and his mother is gonna be developed. The blue roses are hints left by his mother ( already assuming her angel form). It's the only way that his mother had to comunicate with him, because somehow she was also chained to that event. After Dante releases all the chains, Eva will also be released, eventually helping him to understand what's going on.

The enemies that Dante face in that place, are Dante's inner demons. Dante already had to deal with demons even before the game's events. So, in order to fully understand himself and his mind, he must deal with past issues, thus explaining the demons. :)

I think you are right. And I think I have something to add to your theory. So when Dante frees his mind by breaking all the chains he unlocks the truth within the statue. The truth that Dante murdered his mother because of his inability to control his inner demon form. This is what causes Dante to unlock his full Devil Trigger by remembering the traumatic event. This would make sense considering that the cinematic where Dante gains his Devil Trigger (in the e3 trailer and the TGS trailer) is in the secret world type area. Thus the tag line "Face Your Demons" is literally applied to the game.

Definitely one of the better interviews.

Also, Chocolateghost, I think that theory will be debunked because it really looks like Mundus killed her ate her heart, but you might be on to something.
