I'm not harsh. Everyone insists on giving the old games a free pass while tearing apart every minor detail in DmC. It's a double standard, and I'm sick of it.

Thanashs is checking now, apparently he didn't stick around for one when he got to the ending  I've grounded him for a week because of it.
Well Virgil did reach for his weapon 1st after Dante choose not to stand aside so im not soo sure. He maybe have asked one time then stabbed like crazy.I can see that, still no need to do what he did, even Vergil would probably just point his sword at Dante and tell him one more time to stand aside instead of just going in there and stabbing him like crazy.
IMO, this ending was pure sex.
Dante and Vergil formed a rather close bond, and even though they both care about the human race in the end, they have different ideas about how things should ultimately be.
I'm really glad that Vergil just isn't "evil."
And the fight itself was wonderful. The different stages were exciting for me to watch. If the guy was playing on Devil Hunter mode, then obviously it'll look easy(as I honestly believe we all would start on Nephilim, I mean it is for those who are used to playing Devil May Cry), but you can quite successfully cheese out Vergil 3 as well. It's not like he just stood in one spot. He was dodging and moving around to avoid Vergil's attacks. It's pretty apparent that it wasn't his first time fighting him.
It did end pretty abruptly, but why drag it out? Because it's the ending? We got all of the information we needed. They're at odds now. Vergil left. Was he supposed to stick around and be menacing? How do we know there aren't any secret scenes after or even during the credits?
I thought it was awesome and I don't see how DMC3 was in anyway better. Honestly, no matter what the ending was, I pretty much expected this reaction, so I can't say I'm surprised.
Now yesterday we were all hyped of completely about this game because of its new sick trailer. Now you guys are giving up hope just because a of an ending? Wow. Thats all i can say is wow. You guys are worse than Vergil. Switch sides real fast.

Did anyone else think it was funny that Virgil would get thrown around then get up like nothing happened? lol
No one's giving up hope, I'll still play the hell out of this game, but it's really damn disappointing that we're talking about whether or not this ending is as bad as previous games' endings when NT was supposed to step up the storytelling for the franchise. We lost 30fps and MT Framework for a supposedly better focus on narrative. So yeah. Now yesterday we were all hyped of completely about this game because of its new sick trailer. If people saw the Mass Effect ending before playing the game, after they were excited about it, I'm sure many would have done the same.

Yes. It's a deep philosophical difference of opinion. Neither is "wrong" necessarily (Vergil still had the best intentions to lead them), but they just both have their own way of doing things.

Yes. Unlike the Old, Dusty-Books, One-Dimensional Vergil, this one served a real purpose to the story other than just to "take over". He wanted to complete his vision, and really just wanted the best for the human race. He said himself that he would respects his subjects. He was more powerful, and wiser, so he's actually right to rule (to a certain degree, that is).

Yes. Vergil is, as his character demonstrates, surgically-precise, evasive, yet still reluctant on attacking the one true friend he has at that point. That's why he let on with the easy attacks first. It was only after Dante started beating him that he knew he would have to stop at nothing to achieve his goals. Even if it meant Dante's death.

Yeah, this ain't LotR: Return of the King. Everything was in it's place and Vergil saw no more need to be around. Leaving the story open for a sequel.

I still bought ME3 because the MP is phenomenal, I will get DmC when I have time because I like the gameplay.
End of story.
I understand....and it sure dosnt make it any better that "Vergil's down fall" dlc will have the true ending. No one's giving up hope, I'll still play the hell out of this game, but it's really damn disappointing that we're talking about whether or not this ending is as bad as previous games' endings when NT was supposed to step up the storytelling for the franchise. It's like Capcom developing Heavenly Sword 2 in order to have better gameplay but not only they make a worse story as expected, but also worse/just as bad gameplay. What was the point then?
So Vergil's Downfall follows this. I wonder what he wants to gain from wandering around a Limbo without the demon king Mundus ruling it. I think he either wants to rule Limbo or find Sparda.
I think you misinterpreted the ending. Vergil isn't evil. He just has a different way of dealing with the future and that happens to oppose Dante's feelings, because Dante feels that he's like them (human). So Vergil just suddenly turns evil and fights Dante at the very end?
Ok ending, but this is no masterpiece of story telling Ninja Theory kept on bragging so much about. I have seen good endings on video games before, and I'm sorry but this doesn't quite cut it. I was expecting something a bit more epic but this is just... ridiculously anti-climatic. It's like Vergil just turned to Dante and went "Oh btw, now that we all beat the final boss and everything is like happy sunshine, I'm just gonna randomly fight you right here." They just sort of pushed the final boss on to you just because it's Vergil and you must fight Vergil like in DMC3...
I mean... I would have loved it so much if they kept Mundus as the final boss, cutting Vergil completely, and the ending was a cliff hanger where Vergil just makes a creepy grin and you know shiz is gonna go down in DmC2. Hopefully the Vergil DLC will explain a bit more thereafter but this is sort of bad guys.... we can't deny we were expecting a bit more than this.
