Kat from St. Catherine?

This is what I recently read from the DMC wiki. Not good info but it caught my attention.

Kat is short for Catherine and is also the name of St. Catherine of Alexandria, a Christian martyr who converted thousands to Christianity. Her final attempt was during a visit to the Roman emperor Maxentius when she attempted to convert him to Christianity, even converting several pagan debators in the process. A furious Maxentius then ordered Catherine to be executed on a spiked breaking wheel. However, the wheel was miracously destroyed and Maxentius beheaded her. After death, her remains were carried by angels to Mt. Sinai.

What if that's ho Kat dies? If she does die. Her head get's cut off an an Angel (Dante) takes her to heaven, but he can't come with her, cause he's a demon and is sent back to Earth.

Parents, you want to scare your child straight? Tell them a Christian martyr story. Works every time.

I don't think Kat will die at all. I could be wrong thou.

And it's prone to not be true as any other theory, but it seems like a good theory.

I prefer Dante47's theory though. It makes more sense and is more consistent to previous Devil May Cry games.
Your theory seems a bit far-fetched, imo.

My theory isn't far-fetched. But perhaps your right - that names of DmC will be like DMC. That they pick it from saints and so on.

Other names have already been picked from religious texts, such as Limbo for example. Osiris derives from Ancient Egyptian mythology. Dante, Vergil, Mundus... DmC may not be a direct link to the original series, but there still are some remnants passed through to the new game as well. Character naming sounds plausible to be one of them.
However, that doesn't mean your theory isn't plausible as well, you could just as well be right, but as said, these are all just theories for now as nothing has been confirmed yet.

Here's another theory: Kat might be wiccan. The henna tattoos on her hands and the pentagram on her forehead, not to mention the pentagram ritual circle she is standing in on the concept art of her and the fact she is a psychic and can see demons for what they are might be because she can do witchcraft like a wiccan. Wiccan aren't about satanic worship, but is alot more spiritual, opening the mind's eye to what is beyond our world.

I read up on all ladies of DMC and all of em have bible names. I expected Lady to not be but i forgot her name is Mary as in virgin mary. Even Gloria is a bible reference.

So with that said the chance of Kat being biblic name goes up from 3/10 to 7/10.
Mine go downs to 5/10 because +1 was probably me exggerating.

Then again in DMC there was no society present. It was few characters in emptyplaces.
In DmC there is society.

So still some chance that Kats name comes from what i suggest. Because imagine giving a biblic name to all characters that will be displayed in DmC story.

Your wiccan theory seems ok. But i am not one to judge it, a wiccan would perhaps?

Also, stop calling it my theory. It was really DragonMaster2010's theory. I was just defending it.

5/10 still seems like an excessively high rating for the likelihood of a video game character being named after a retroreflective safety device. it is British and NT is British but that is not really evidence of a connection.

Actually no...

Kat's purpose as we have seen in DmC so far is to show the path for Dante. Where he can find cameras to destroy and so on. The purpose of that British invention is to enlighten people of the city location.

And NT has been influenced by Punk movement which started in UK.

The invention is also called "Cat's eyes", and Kat is a pshycic who can see demon world.

So no 5/10 is a good rating.

you make a good case, but im gonna side with @darkslayer, i think its a little too odd and coincidental to be true. but i think your points about the punk movement are brilliant and that could well be the case
