Just what the heck is so good about Metal Gear Rising?

So I just signed up here to reply to this post because I'm curious as to why you think what I wrote is subjective bullshit? After playing the demo upon my first reaction I'd constantly forget that I needed to hold down the trigger to have the selected weapon activated.
that's you, the majority of people who played this game, even my one of my best friends who rarely plays hack and slash games, got used to the controls in a matter of minutes
I would press it only after that would remember it needed to be held down. I found this was the case through out the whole demo and on a second play through.
that's you, the majority didn't need to figure out that it needed to be held
Having played DMC1, 2, 4 and a little bit of 3 I found the demo put me off this game completely in terms of combat. As I stated though it is a demo so it's never a true representation of the final product so I am willing to change my mind after playing the final product to see if it's any better.
its a nine month old build, and that's the point, its a different take then dmc 1,2,3, and 4, ITS SUPPOSED TO FEEL DIFFERENT, if i buy a game in 2013 i don't wanna feel nostalgia anymore in a game that's not an HD remake
Rising is developed by PG who developed DMC hence why it's the more appealing combat based game because it's fluid and frantic. As for the QTE events they're mainly restricted to executions of enemies or bosses. I've played up to the boss battle in Chapter 4 at a preview the other week and the QTE's were honestly the least of my worries. No where near as bad as any other game that features them.
hideki kamiya is not working on MGR at all and he's the creator of the franchise dmc as well as the genre of hack and slash
Thanks for the feedback though appreciate it :)

Well, I like Raiden and I like the entire DMC series, so I guess I don't exist.

No, really, where the hell do you get off saying such inflammatory things, thinking it won't get you in trouble? Your kind makes me sick.

I think he's talking about the butthurt DMC fans, not general ones.

Or because reboot does not appeal to them, so they are searching for another game.
About Bayonetta, if you compare her with females in other video games like Dead or Alive or Soul Calibur her looks are more realistic. Moviebob did one episode about her character and design and why its different in comparison with another games.

Funny, I said Platinum Games developed DMC1 and you automatically refer to Hideki Kamiya not working on Revengeance. I didn't mention Hiedki at all and I know he doesn't have anythign to do with MGR:R.

Please stop talking about the majority, you don't speak for every single person who has played this game. I know for a fact those I have spoken to haven't enjoyed DmC because of how streamlined it's become as well as other decisions NT have made.

Also judging by your lack of reply to my QTE section guess people are complaining about Revengeance for no reason.

Having a Metal Gear with Kojima hardly involved is already step 1 of failure. This is not even the same game they annouced years ago which I may have been actually a little more interested in. The original concept of Metal Gear Rising was going to bridge the gap between MGS 2 and 4 and show how Raiden saved Sunny and retrieved the body of Solidus believed to be Big Boss. Kojima canned the project himself because it wasn't working out. P*'s name does not get my attention either because it's not like they put forth the quality work all the time.

Seriously, just about everything P* makes never really excels past the decent mark. They always seem to settle for the lowest common denominator that has their games just reach the bar of ok and never amazing. Bayonetta was a game that shined with just how perverted it could get amongst everything else. I don't have a problem at all in the slightest with sexual themes but if you're going to push out a game like this, reach the obvious conclusion and make porn games. The dudes who developed the amazing Viewtiful Joe don't belong there if you ask me and should seek a better company to work for. Only a few companies show quality work and effort put into their games, Rockstar being one of them. (GTA 5 looks like it could top San Andreas, that would be quite the game after San Andreas set the bar so high)

Most of the people who are supporting Rising are just DMC fans who see P* attached to it. They aren't even Metal Gear fans and some honestly it will send some kind of message if they support it. The majority of Metal Gear fans still don't care about Raiden or this Rising game. Trust me. To be honest DmC seems to be the better and more satisfying action experience. Of course the people against it won't agree but I don't care. That stubborness is set in stone and there's no point. Personal hatred aside for the character of Raiden, Rising just looks like the weaker game overall and I won't even acknowledge it.

Like I said, Metal Gear Solid is still here, so if you don't want to play MGR, then don't. DmC is a different story altogether; it's replaced DMC, it seems. And seriously, the sexual parts of Bayonetta bothered you the most? What about the horrendous, chaotic and cheap boss fights? At least Platinum Games have the balls to make it sexual in a humorous way. Most game developers don't take any chances nowadays, so I have to give them credit. Bayonetta also includes beautiful stages, mini-games and has style. I don't know what you consider quality work, but I haven't bought a GTA since GTA3 or something because it's just so cliché and is mainly meant to be a game in which you can do what you want - if carjacking and shooting all the time is still what you want to do, then that's great. Same ****, different equally boring story. Vice City was fun, though, I'll give them that.

Like Ninja Theory create quality work. I don't think so :p I don't care about the majority of Metal Gear fans, because that's exactly the lowest common denominator you were talking about a paragraph before. If I were to take the lowest common denominator's people's word, Call of Duty MW3 would be the best game ever. It's not.

I can't say I agree with the part about the combos, either. I can hardly call the attacks in DmC combos. They don't seem to link very well, and the pace at which you hit enemies is just slow compared to DMC3 and DMC4 - if you knew what you were doing in those games, that is.

It's a bit short-sighted to call people stubborn when you have no arguments based on fact as to why DmC is supposed to be better than the old DMC, MGR or Bayonetta. But whatever, I'm assuming you'll call other people stubborn and won't acknowledge that you might be too. So, bye then.

Well, Kojima has been marketing MGR as something akin to Bayonetta, and everyone likes Bayonetta, which is why everyone will be disappointed with MGR, because although it looks good, I think that because Platinum Games had to rush to complete it, it will not have the same level of polish as Bayonetta.

I'm a bigger Metal Gear Solid fan than I am Devil May Cry which is why I don't give a crap about Rising. I still hate Raiden and the character is just dead to me. Plus, it just looks like a game that would get really repetitive after a while. The addition of QTEs don't sweeten the package either. I saw someone play it for 30 mins and he went into slo-mo every 2 seconds basically. You know, this wasn't even that fun in MGS 2. I can see it just getting old fast and I didn't play Metal Gear to play some DMC rip off. I love my stealth focused gameplay.
Plus Kojima is hardly involved in the project and it sure as hell shows. After all, he canned it himself to begin with. Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain is all we're worried about. The people who care about Raiden don't exist or are just butthurt Devil May Cry fans lol. Trust me, I'm big in my Metal Gear and he still isn't as accepted. Find your own place in MGS Raiden (how about a grave) He jumps in MGS 2 trying to be Snake then 4 he's trying to be Gray Fox. No no no no no no, Raiden GTFO and die.

metal gear rising is a great game so stfu no one cares if you like your stealth based action. Just shut up ,you talk like the company only exists to please you...you type full essays to make a important statement but its really mundane. What was there the need to bump such a old topic that has such a touchy issue as this one?

Does this topic honestly warrant a bump and continued discussion?

Most forums have a cut off on bumping topics over 3 months, this one was 7 months sooooo.......

Simply put because of the title alone "Metal gear solid" is a big name and you could stick any 3rd grade crappy movie to it and you can still expect it to get some attention.

Metal Gear Rising is an amazing game, fast paced combat, being able to cut enemies at will, cut metal gear rays at will, different types of enemies, chaos everywhere, awesome rival (Jetstream Sam), soundtrack was amazing, freaking crap load of combo potential. game gets your blood pumping to destroy anything in you path...

Both games (DmC and MGR) are equal in my opinion as in both games are disappointing but still has its positive features.

People argue that DmC is better because it has a far better, more free, and deep combat system (its a DMC game its a MUST to have this quality) but so does DMC over NG but plenty of people still prefer NG over DMC or think that its better.

While I agree MGR is nothing great I prefer it over DmC. The only thing IMO DmC has over MGR is environments/art and combat system......but that is it.

Razor's Edge whoops both games a$$es....which reminds me....need to buy that game too.

As much **** as I used to talk about MGR, I do realize that it isn't as bad as people claim it to be. Nor as good as others speak of it to be. I had my little moments of fun here and there, and I actually enjoyed Jetstream Sam and Bladewolf as their own characters and dlc. The soundtrack was memorable and is possibly within my top twenty, or maybe even fifteen gaming soundtracks. However the game still is flawed, but somewhat fun.

I prefer DmC simply because of the combat system and well, everything else. MGR by my standards was a dull looking game, DmC was far more fun to look at. But if you like MGR and hate DmC, that's cool with me. You just go keep on what you want to do, because this is the internet and opinions really shouldn't matter unless they are hateful and biased.
