Just another combo move of this game that may or may not interest you...

It's almost as if you were looking for an excuse to compare DMC4 and DmC, and bash the latter in the process...
That's all it is... an excuse. Always has been, always will be with these "purists".

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I only said that this was my favorite game and that it was "the best" IN MY OPINION. That means, it's the best one suited to my tastes.

If I don't play the older games anymore because I prefer to play DmC only, then it's not my problem if other people take issue with that.

Exactly. It was a real "designed-by-committee" sort of game, one that tried to ape DMC3 and failed miserably at it. Now people are claiming that "story doesn't matter" and that "the combat makes up for its flaws".

No, it doesn't. Not by a long shot.

IKR. You'd think gameplay WOULD make up for the flaws?

That would be the case...if there WAS a lot of gameplay and combat in DMC4. For the most part you're really just fixing pieces, putting things together, grabbing red orbs like jelly beans, and running forward, then backwards. The actual chance for combat in DMC4 seems so uninteresting to me that the only real combat is in cut scenes which takes up most of the game instead of combat itself.

Exactly. The only time where you can really cut loose (fight for really long time, I mean) is during Bloody Palace... and maybe those godawful "game boards".

I'm certainly not going to pay full or even half price just to play that.

No one in the thread even stated that DmC is technically superior to the previous games.

I kinda do.

Also, saying one thing is "obviously" better than another is indeed flame-baiting. Sorry to break it to you, but you've got to learn sometime, right?
.

But...aren't you doing the same thing?

I'm sorry, what?

Goodbye. You've been reported. And on your first post too, congrats.

I was referring to the combat system. Not the overall game. It was the point of my entire post honestly.

No one in the thread even stated that DmC is technically superior to the previous games.

Yet there are still some people who say this game's combat lacks depth...

I mean, I could never do this stuff even if I wanted to, but the potential to do so is there for the pros.

You stated that there were people who claimed DmC lacked depth and I explained why people think so due to DMC4's high skill ceiling. I'm comparing DmC with DMC4 because of this.

That was the point of my post. To explain to people why DmC lacked depth and why people thought so.

I wasn't trying to bash DmC.
I wasn't trying to claim that x game is better than Y game.
I was explaining why DmC lacked depth yet people think I'm bashing the game, being a hater, and baiting people for responses. I was expecting people to listen reasonably and at least give a counter argument yet I'm being accused for doing something wrong? For providing info to people from someone who analyzes game mechanics? Really guys?

Should've worded your argument differently, then.

Coming off as high-and-mighty never did anyone any good.

Maybe you didn't mean to (or did you?), but that's the impression everyone else got from your post.

That's right. It's all about how much fun you have, not how much better you are than the other guy -- or how much better the DMC4 combat mechanics themselves are, either.

But I will admit, that the spinning camera trick in DmC (along with its other setups) is pretty sweet.

How am I being egotistical when I'm giving you insight on something you aren't familiar with?
Never have I defamed DmC supporters for their opinion or made fun of people even liking DmC in this thread. It's your own opinion and I can't change that. I'm not going to think any differently about you than I do against people who prefer past DMC games. It's your own preference. But don't go attacking me just because I'm saying something that you don't like or you don't agree with. You're being just as bad as the anti-DmC people.

This guy thinks his opinion holds more weight than everyone else's because of his overly lengthy "explanation".
It does, actually. He presented evidence, while you just covered your ears and presented a few videos with no clarification on its relevance to the argument. I'm not sure if you are being evasive, bating or trolling. The irony is thick when the person blaming close-mindedness on those who believe DmC isn't deep enough, is close minded himself. Also, he never stated that his opinion holds more weight.
Perhaps you need a dictionary: o·pen-mind·ed - willing to consider new ideas.

Also, saying one thing is "obviously" better than another is indeed flame-baiting. Sorry to break it to you, but you've got to learn sometime, right?

Goodbye.
I love it when someone avoids arguments like that, don't you think? From the beginning I knew having a civil discussion with you isn't feasible.

You've been reported. And on your first post too, congrats
Funny as you're the one being aggressive here. ChaserTech was being as civil as it gets, but of course you called people close-minded for not having your viewpoint of DmCs depth, dismissing Chaser's argument because, in a nutshell, "tl;dr" and falsely reported him based on the assumption that he's "flame-bating". Good job.

Wow, your first post and already you're trying to incite an argument.

Welcome to the forum. Enjoy your (hopefully brief) stay.
