I'm noticing allot if not all of the spam threads are located in our Anime section.

Any ideas why?

Its about the least used forum, so what is up with that?

^It does seem to be the Bots Playground atm, probably cause its the least used...trust me, theres alot more there than you can see

We're ontop of it, if you see a dud thread in there feel free to Report it and it will be dealt with swiftly.

Bots tend to swap between forums from time to time...whereas most will spam anywhere they like; the Anime forum tends to gather alot ^^

I thought bots targeted high traffic areas? To get the most exposure before being dealt with.

It's probably because in areas where ther arn't much threads they can get noticed easier.

As much as I feel bad about the anime section, its not like there is anything else to say about the anime itself.

Useless section to most of us.:lol:

Along with the PsP and movie sections, we just don't use them.

I thought bots targeted high traffic areas? To get the most exposure before being dealt with.

Bots seem to target areas with key words in them. If people swear or use bad language a lot their posts and threads can attract the bots. Thats another reason the filter is in place (not just because this is a family friendly forum). As the word Anime is used a lot on the internet and their are lots of forums based around it im guessing the bots are programmed to pick up on the meta tag or keywords used to maximise their spam output.

well in my opinion the bots have a positive point in why they target the anime forum.

let me ask you this
why do we always find something we need in the last place we think of?
the answer is simple becuse we stop searching about them. that is why they target the anime section.

we rarely use the anime section and we almost forgot about it. the bots are trying to tell us that we should check all the forums not enter one or two places and leave the rest. well that is my opinion

Bots dont have a mind of their own, they are merely created to spam places that match certain word criteria usually. If someone goes around saying how they are going to f*** someone up (i just used * for this example) or using words like that excessively then that thread is likely to be spammed with porn bots used to pick up on that word for example. We had an image in the Project Ego gallery that was an innocent image of a game screenshot named 'In my face' and you can guess what spam infested that all the time over all the other images. They had obviously picked up on the words used and matched the criteria & it was spammed with hundreds of links all the time. Soon as we edited the name it was left alone for the most part.
