I believe it would have been better and possibly would have been able to fill in some of the plotholes we currently have. Also do you think there wil be a DMC 4 special edition?

Yep.

Dante would actually be likable to me.
Kyrie wouldn't be so brain dead.
Nero wouldn't be so stereotypical and a Dante poser
Trish would actually be useful.
Lady wouldn't be dressed up like a slut.
and the story MIGHT be more interesting.

I agree with SRS. DMC4 might be lacking but how was it rushed.
One Idea was that Dante would travel through hell which can be seen somewhat when Dante gets his weapons all named after different Demons that you never fought another or could be the same was dante again going through hell with appearances with lady trish, nero, and Nelo angelo but development got cut so they had to reuse nero's levels

Personally, I can't help but agree. As much as I enjoyed it...it felt rushed and WAYY too catered to Anime fanboys. Dante was lacking severely in the personality department, and made me cringe at what came out of his mouth. Nero, as much as I like him...he's nothing but an Ichigo Kurosaki copy that tries too hard to be a Dante. I mean for gods sake, they didn't have to make him nearly the main character of the game AND make our main man Dante replay through his old levels. Kyrie was a bit too sweet and stereotypical anime girl for my tastes, she just screams Orihime Inoue. And keep in mind that their comparisons to Ichigo and Orihime have nothing to do with their voice actors. LOL. All in all it was a bit of a rushed game, though it was fun.

A) can i get a source link

B) that's not being rushed as that can be a unused concept for an early version of the game that was scrapped because Kobayashi came on board and wanted to focus more on Nero.

No i mean that since development was cut it was mostly likely the case of they had gotten most of Nero's part of the game done and now that they didn't have time for making a story with dante in hell as well they DID have to scrap the idea with dante in hell. What other reason would capcom have to openly reuse levels besides being greedy of coarse also FORGIVE ME!! im to lazy to look up links right now

im sorry

For sure it would be... No damn backtracking... No dumb story as for example with Gloria/Trish and so on.

Besides 2 for me the worst DMC, even if combat was amazing

I heard Pandora, Lucifer and Gilgamesh were supposed to be bosses, that's why the weapons don't match up to the bosses you fight.

Also, Nero was supposed to get a proper Devil Trigger.

Is there documentation of this?

Those could be just scrapped concepts that Capcom didn't want to include. Just because it wasn't included in the full game doesn't mean that it was just unfinished.

Unless Capcom themselves said that DMC4 was rushed/unfinished, and if this was proved by actual evidence, I kinda don't believe that DMC4 was just an unfinished game. And yes, backtracking and recycled bosses doesn't make any sense imo, but I don't see this being actual evidence that a game is unfinished.

I actually really enjoyed Devil May Cry 4. I didn't get the feeling that it was rushed..most of the complaints I heard were about Nero. But I found his fighting style pretty great, and that was a risk that paid off.

It's all in the Devil May Cry 4 concept artbook with the artists notes explaining why this wasn't in the game or what happened during development. Remember development was cut from 2-3 years down to 1 so they would have had to cut alot of planned content just to get the game out. There was also that early interview where they said Dante would be getting more weapons than he did in 3.

It really shows in the game too. Like, why didn't Dante get a fire weapon from Berial? Lucifer looks nothing like Berial, same with Gilgamesh and Pandora.

Ugh, the Devil Arms from bosses there were already his and used to power the hell gates, he just took them back.
Also the more weapons is true, and @Chaser, Nero's DT as shown on the concept was cut from the game literary a month or two before the development had ended.

Yeah, they gutted a lot in the last bit of time before Dev was cut short to push the game out ASAP. Nero was supposed to have a full DT form, and Dante's was supposed to have a hell of a lot more for it, including full wings and a tail. DMC4 WAS incomplete when you compare to the last minute production changes and short-stopping just to get it out for a quick cash-in

Yep, DMC4 is TRULY only half a game, they cut most of it before shipping it. I remember reading interviews in late 2007 about stuff not even present in the game lol. But maybe they were like: "at least we will have stuff prepared for a potential DMC5"

And this is why I hate Kobayashi ._.

Kobayahi isn't totally to blame, upper management at Capcom shoulders more since they pressed Kobayashi and his team to get the game out ASAP instead of finishing the planned product.

True, but even DmC is a bit rushed, NOWHERE near as much as DMC4 is, but there would be many fast improvements possible if they took their time a lil more.
