I think i said the wrong thing.
I meant that even thought kamiya was a key player in writing DMC's story, there were other people who had input who could have picked up the slack. Plus they did do a good job with 3 in regards to story and gameplay so they were capable of doing great without Kamiya.
I just liked 3 better because it felt more like a start of the series than 1 did. I just was more interested in the characters than I was with 1.
I felt that the main reason other humans werent in DMC3 was because they didnt feel like wasting money to animate them in order to save costs.
No, i think DMC 3 gameplay is very good.
But i don´t think the story is anything much. And as i said earlier that it was less than 20 years since public got PCs, and in such short time so much technological progress have been made.
So comparing 2001 DMC 1 to 2005 DMC 3 is not right.
They proved with DMC 3 that they can make great gameplay without Kamiya.
But with DMC 2 and 3 they didn´t proved anything. They made new characters just like they do with Resident Evil characters.
Lady is such a typical RE character just like Dante is a "leon" based character.
And i haven´t said that Kamiya is the sole source of DMC story, but it seems he is the big boss when it comes to it.
Replying to animation costs, i agree, because i see lazy animation in DMC 3. When Arkham surprises everyone and they all fall off the rising tower.
But what makes does a story consist of, or what makes the story better? One of it is ATMOSPHERE:
"The presence of a world":
society.
That is why despite Blood Omen 2 had average gameplay i looked past it. Because the music, the villagers(npcs) and the gothic dark art style of buildings gave a sense of hopeless world where humans were cows.
And i was fascinated
