How to make Kyrie a better character?

Well fortuna was full of occult and magic , so it's not a big stretch to say Kyrie studied in it and may already have a grasp on spells

I mean elemental spells could be lethal to demons

She could use barriers for protection since she doesn't have regeneration

Maybe give that exclusively to Kyrie and that could be her thing. Maybe even say her ancestors were sorcerers as well or something and she had no idea. Patty could be a friend and a mentor to her.

Yes, that was the idea. Kyrie could/should/would be a magic-only user, which would then mean completely different approach from devil hunters who can fall back on blades if demons come too close. In essence, she could be the opposite of Nero, who uses gun, but is still dominantly close-range fighter.

So something like Mr. "Come Back Here!" Sanctus, except an ally and much less annoying?

Was thinking more like a female Constantine , but obviously not on that scale

Like the four elements as attacks, time manipulation like freezing enemies in time

Healing herself , conjuring demons to fight for her a bit like v but more akin fodder demons

She could use holy water as it's disappeared in this latest entry

Have barriers for protection and telekinesis possibly

Sealing spells etc

Good ideas. This could even work for a multiplayer/coop/multiple-character playthroughs, as she could support the rest of the gang / whoever she is paired up with from the distance, while they handle threats from up-close. Of course, she would have to be capable of holding her own in single-player... but just increase the number of enemies in MP/coop to compensate.

Well she could always get Nero or Dante to train her with a staff , use that for melee attacks if she is close quarters

And the staff could double as a channel for the magic and boost the elemental attacks

She could use lightning and energy spheres and all sorts too

The core of Kyrie's problem is that she doesn't have much to offer the series's story outside of being Nero's girlfriend. You could give her the ability to fight but that only solves a part of the problem. She needs a more developed viewpoint of her own first- her being a modest church girl is a starting point but just a starting point.

Her being a fighter could go either way. The larger issue is DMC not doing the world outside of the fights well so most of the non-combatants feel flat or uninteresting. Nico's a step in the right direction but not much better.

As you said

That is why having her as a combatant is so important. Though I'm not sure it would mesh with the personality she has shown so far.

She doesn't have to become bloodthirsty, she could just see fighting as a means to an end.

I'm not saying she needs to be bloodthirsty, hell, Dante is far from that; but she does appear to be quite shy and passive. Though, if done well, it could be hilarious to see her open a can of whoopass.

Yeah it would be pretty funny. Nobody would expect someone like Kyrie to do that.

Its been 5 years she could've became more assertive. Kyrie shares the same english VA as Orihime and Hinata and both characters are pretty shy. However both could still fight (orihime is a yellow belt which i wish the series used more).

She doesn't have to fight she just needs to be involved (like Kat or Nico). If she has powers like seeing the future/past or clairvoyance that would help as well.

It might even be possible to throw in a nod to DMC4 and have her control/disorient demons by singing. Or make an enemy that causes damage or possession through sound, so you need to stay near Kyrie to cancel out the effect.

I feel like if you had to kill Kyrie off, I rather you have her come back as a ghost and she spends the story helping Nero stop the bad guy before passing on.

That’ll work. And Nero will find a new lover in his life too.

Yes, she needs to have some role. I mean, complaints about her as a character are based mostly around her role of stereotypical "damsel in distress", and the fact that she doesn't have any role / appearance outside of that. At this point, essentially any way to give her some active role in the series is better than present situation.

What I had in idea though is something like this:

Funny is slang for ironic, English isn't my first language

I use a lot of slang as that's what I learned when learning it

My first language is Irish, sorry for the confusion

Be a cool plot twist getting back to it though

That it would be. Though they would have to have a very good explanation for how it was possible in the first place - don't forget that he grew up with Credo and Kyrie, like in the same house. I imagine something like that would be rather difficult to pull off. Unless Sanctus was complicit in it, maybe, which would open yet another can of worms.

Easy to write it really as we have literally no background info on Kyrie and credo

And sanctus turned credo into a demon so it is plausible Kyrie could be planted
