Game of the year? Game of the Year.

I have a question for you. Do you even like this game? With how you're talking about the story, it sounds like you're anti-DmC and are trying to **** people off.
I dislike the story and certain aspects of the combat, but otherwise I'm trying to stay optimistic about it. My view might seem negative right now because the story is one of the things that I really dislike, and that's all we've been talking about here

Well, not much of the story has been revealed. It's like reading the first and last paragraph of a book, you won't get enough information without seeing the whole. And summarizing it to the most simple form doesn't work, either. As for the combat, for me it's just something I've adjusted to because of other games with similar elements. I don't really even care about that part, anyway. I look more at the characters and story, their journey.

How about you give the story a chance, clear your mind of what you've already decided about it, and look at it the way you'd look at a book. A lot of them tend to be pretty cliche, but it's the journey that matters.

I am giving it a chance, but it's impossible to completely disregard everything I've seen about the plot up till this point. I'm making an effort, that's all I can really promise

With those basics it's like the original series. From what you've said it's more what you believe the plot is so far, and that's what you're not letting go. Since you've said you prefer books to movies, try looking at it the same way as a book. A lot start out slow and can look generic, but you read more and it will often become more. I'm just suggesting you don't make an absolute conclusion on the story just yet and assume you know exactly what it's about.

no, books start out with a hook to get readers interested, otherwise they don't make it past the first chapter. This story's hook is that the government is evil, corporations are greedy and out to get us, the media is brainwashing us. Yawn.

I'll stick with it because of the devil may cry name, that is literally the only reason I'm making an effort for this story. You keep asking like I might give you a different answer, but this is honestly as simple as it gets.

Not all books, actually. Stephen King doesn't always follow that formula. Black House, which I am reading right now, started out with a description of the town and characters. It got kind of boring for a while, but that was the first chapter. Then it went into the murders, and it escalated from there.

Music has a hook in the middle of the song before toning down again. The hook is to get you interested, I agree, but it's not always at the beginning.

I'm mostly trying to figure out why you talk the game down so much, and then say you're giving it a chance. I guess I'm hoping for some neutrality, rather than two conflicting messages.

it follows the same formula, just different pacing. You said yourself, murders happened really early in the book. That's the hook.

This may not seem entirely neutral, but you should see how I normally talk about this game. There are *many* things I think this game is doing wrong, but I'm trying to shove that down and give it a chance. I'm even on these boards surrounding myself with people who have nothing but good things to say about it, *willingly* to try and catch some of what it is that's making people honestly excited about playing this game, instead of just forcing it.

I have a thing about bad plots though, so when it was brought up, I couldn't contain it. Sorry. If this ends up being completely negative and I don't get anything constructive out of this, I'll probably end up abandoning this experiment (and this game) and go back to hating everything it's doing.

Then try pointing out some things you like about it so you don't seem so negative about it. That's what everyone is having a problem with. What I love about this game is the evolution of the characters. I can see their potential and I want to see what's done with them. There you have a reason from someone that's excited about this game.

And every plot is bad if you don't look at every element. I'm fine with you staying, but you're coming off as close-minded about the story and looking only at a small part of it when there's more in store. I'm not trying to make you leave, just trying to understand and hopefully give you some understanding.

I do like the art a lot. Maybe not the orange and blue bloom in the demo, but some of the themes are pretty awesome, major props to NT's art guys. That night club where you run along beams of light? Freaking sweet. Also when you jump into the raptor news logo and it's an entire world of moving light, though one of my personal favorites is the scene where he's on the bridge and the world flips upside down and it's raining, holy **** that looks sweet. It's also pretty entertaining how when dante fights barbas you go inside his eye and the fight in there is from the perspective of a news helicopter, that was pretty neat

Those are some pretty good parts shown about the game, so far. The world being upside down is going to be fun to get through.

I'm kind of looking forward to the fight with Barbas. I just wish you could fight him in his human form, first. It would make it so much more satisfying after how annoying he can be.

I can't wait to hand it to Bob either. That guy is so up himself.

I also hope there is a Lilith fight. I want to find out how much of that lady is fake. After seeing her toss her wig at Dante, I'm expecting that to be followed by fake eyelashes, fake nails and coloured contact lenses....maybe even fake chest

yeeeeeeah..... that demon sex scene, her entire head looked like one bad plastic surgery layered on top of another. Interesting to see what she really looks like

lol. There probably will be. It would be funny to see different parts of her fall off. She already looks like her skin doesn't fit.

If Mundus can steal a human body for a vessel then so can she. I think she stole that skin from some poor human. The skin is held on by corset piercings on her back and some kind of twisty thingy on her head so it can't be a human form she takes naturally like Dante and Vergil do.

There's got to be something demonic under all that fakeness, just a question of what.

That sounds like what happened in Hellraiser. I'd just have to wonder whose skin it was because of just how loose it is. Or maybe she stretched it out a little when she moved in.

I don't get why Lilith has a human form that fits badly, but Mundus doesn't seem to be falling apart in the body of Kyle Ryder. Maybe because she's a weaker demon and can't adapt to human form well?

Maybe she didn't like how it looked and made her own modifications. That could have screwed up her skin's elasticity.
