So basically, every magaizine is saying the same thing

According to Games Master 10 missions is about 4 hours.

There are some nice pics in a 360 magazine. (one especially where the new dante's hair is turning grey.)

lol not really. LoS is something i would call a sleeper hit. Many people that i have talked to it loved it and castlevania originally have the first formula since Castlevania 64 and Lament of Innocence. Plus, it's the best selling castlevania of all time surpassing SOTN and Circle of the moon(Said by dave cox the producer of the game). The only thing it have taken source of GoW is the QTEs and the titan boss fights in SOTC but nothing else
.
I have been in countless debates about how castlevania got the formula first. Castlevania is very niche in the west and probably mostly old gamers know it. I'm hoping that LoS 2 will surpass LoS sales and the gameplay trailer will be on Decemeber 7 finally!

Oh and i would take LoS combat system than bayonetta anytime.

This reeks of bias, along with the smokin' Gabriel avatar :p Not that I care.

What do you feel are anime elements in DmC? Just curious.
What.. anything can be anime DmC even more so. just look at madhouse the company the make western titles(supernatrual, batman, the marvel series and now mass) now if mass effect thats as american as it gets a animeand i doubt the fanbase are all anime fans btw, the DmC who has a fanbase full of anime fans can. even tameen himself is afan large influence on enslaved was miyazaki.no matter how western it gets though DevilMayCry will always be based in the japanese stlye. your averge COD playing frat boy gamer still looks at DmC and says it to hyper twitch with to much going on,anyone who has attempt to bring thoose gamers into DevilMayCry has heard something like that .

does dante having black hair make him more anime i can name plenty of new dante like characters the red and white argument is flawed with a bunch of double standards.at the end of the day both versions of dante is better then playing a 8ft naked bald guy (GOW fan btw just saying dante was never that bad but gets all the hate).

Yeah. At this point I just really want to experience the game and have fun with it. Watching Gregaman's streams fill me with such longing :C

The problem is, I don't think it'll stop. Take a really long hard look at the DMC fanbase, and how it reacted to the last "not-so-good" game in the series - DMC2. To this day it's crapped on relentlessly, and in this age, I don't think the children of the 'net would let anyone forget how much they just don't like DmC, whether it gets glowing praise, mediocre acceptance, or critically panned :/
DMC2 is crapped for a reason --> DmC for no reason..,
That's the difference, in a certain way prejudice is the greatest sin of gamerkind.

well DMC2 isnt a bad game either :/ just really easy and couldnt live up to the original like ever one wanted it to

I've always seen as two different types of Hack n Slash. You get games like Dantes Inferno, God of War and Castlevania LoS which are to FANTASTIC games but don't really have that deep rich combat system of Devil May Cry, Darksiders or Bayonetta; so I find it hard to compare either game

I agree with you on Castlevania though. I don't think it's a series that is for this generation, but for the older games who know what Castlevania is. Castlevania originally started out with your running around towns and whipping werewolves in the face, but the dumbarse haters said LoS sucked because it wasn't like SoTN, which isn't the roots of the Castlevania series.

Nothing new really. Wah wah, I hate Castlevania LoS because it's not Metroid style. It's now cool to hate on RE6 despite the series progressing. It's cool to hate PS-Allstars because (apparently) only Nintendo are allowed to make those games. Now it's DmCs turn to be raided by moronic gamers.

Does a hack n' slash game really need to have a difficult combat system and button layout in order for it to be good?:/

Easy, short, boring... not necessarily a bad game but too repetitive I would say it's better than Ninja Gaiden 3, but that's just me ^_^

it was rushed and it had some big idea's it wanted to put across which some of them failed flat but its the kind of game you play once in awhile

No and that wasn't my point. My point is that both types of Hack 'n' slash are awesome, but they are different shouldn't really be compared.
It's comparable to saying:

The Shooter Genre:
Third Person Shooter and First Person Shooter

Hack 'n' Slash Genre:
Deep Combat and Basic Combat

Having basic combat isn't bad and there's not level of superiority gained by playing Bayonetta over Dantes Inferno.

So what's with the "rich combo system"? Does hard as F*ck button layouts and impossibly difficult comboing=best in show?
I would say the amount of entertainment it can provide is the main thing, weapons+upgrades, story, good combo system doesn't have to be difficult, actually if the combos are too hard to do it's quite the opposite, difficulty has to come from other aspects of the game: hard but fair, not frustrating,
that's how I want my slashers.

People like depth, more than just pushing buttons, they like timing, and special moves that take practice. Like...take Kingdom Hearts, it was a great game, but all you really had to do with mash X the whole time. Kingdom Hearts II added more depth to the system with mid-combo inputs with Square for varying effects. Then, you take a look at DMC, which had a myriad of inputs (pause combos, chargeables) that could change what you did. God of War has your basic Light and Heavy mechanic, so often you usually end up with a dial-a-combo system, still okay, but not as much depth.

Capcom instilled a lot of their fighting game knowledge into DMC's combat, so you can see a bit of a correlation between a fighter's depth and DMC's, especially when it allows for free-form combo attacks.

:P i'm not that bias in LoS lol. I know the fact that it borrowed some mechanics from Shadow of the colossus and Prince of persia's platforming but that's all really.

I agree with almost everything you said ;) except for LoS not having deep rich combat system(No offense). The light and dark magic mechanic is actually one of it's best mechanics in it's combat. LoS is a hack n' slash game but it's not just button mashing. Every enemies(like traditional castlevania games) have weakness that you need to exploit thus not making the game repetitive.

I take it that you are more of a classicvania dude? As much as i like symphony of the night, i think metroidvania is highly overrated in the castlevania fanbase.

I didn't take the light and dark part into account. My fault. It's actually very similar to angel and demon mode in DmC actually. But I was really talking about the whole combo system of the other games.

As for my taste in Castlevania, nope. I love them regardless of style. I love the originals of wandering around towns and whippin' bats. I LOVE the MetroidVania SoTN and HoD. SoTN is incredible. Castlevania LoS I can't even fault. The game is bloody brilliant. The story(especially the characters) had me completely glued to the game (and the DLCs). If it's Castlevania, I'm in.

That's why I'm having so much fun with this new DmC and trying all the combo potential. Whether it sounds good or not but this game feels like (a slightly slower) MvC3. There's so much variety with attacks and that's just the demo. Frothing at the mouth with these new weapons in the full game.

Man, you know... I love all the games you all mentioned. Whether or not they live up to previous game's standards sort of becomes irrelevant to me if the core game is entertaining and fun on it's own merits. Won't stop me from comparing and criticizing them, after all, you can't be a good critic and/or fan if you don't see it's flaws, but it also won't stop me from having a good time.
On another note:
If Gregaman's Demon Hunter showing of the full game is any indicator, this demo has been seriously hampered down in difficulty. I mean, really, Demon Hunter in that stream looked more like Nephilim/SoS in the demo. What the hell?

True true. I just meant comparing within the genre though. I also love those games too and can easily criticise them. Same with the new DmC. I can see the problems with it and constructive criticism should be taken into account.
