When they count how many copies they sell, exactly how they do that, how they keep a track of it? Do they count all copies sold all around the world?

Im sure there is an overall count for how many copies are sold, but since the game basically has 3 different copies. US, EURO, JAPAN. it will also have those counts too
i wanna get a Japan version so it will fit my bayonetta game case

They count copies sold around the World. And I'm guessing the Companies/Stores that sell the game keep track of how many copies they've sold and let Capcom/Ninja Theory know the figures and they work out a pretty accurate estimation of how many copies have been sold globally.

Hmm, so that's it. Even though this is off-topic, how many copies each of the previous DMCs have sold? I've heard some numbers before, but not on all of the games.

this dates back to 2008 so they have changed

Don't forget one of those votes is mine so it can pretty much be discounted as I wouldn't buy the game regardless unless it was for someone else ;)

Good point. But still, that leaves six people who wouldn't pay anything =/

I'm guessing the reason DMC 3 has sold the least is all due to its release year. I mean, DMC 1 sold the second most amount of copies right? So obviously people were interested in it, which is why sales were good for the second game. But then the second game was regarded as the worst in the Series. And either people were so turned off they didn't wish to buy the third game, or they were bored with waiting for it because it was released three years after the second (I believe). And people are known for being impatient. It doesn't make a difference how good sales are, at least not all of the time. I mean, I know almost everyone enjoys Devil May Cry 3, myself included.

I find it rather interesting that based on those sales figures alone, the last dmc game that came out got the most sales - incidentally, it was one that had the most rage centred on it for being too different and including a character that divided the fans straight down the middle. I mean, it wasn't that long ago really that we had flame wars over who did and didn't like Nero - it's probably why Capcom aren't overly concerned about reactions to the new Dante. They must look at sales for the last "hated" title (for some, at least) and think "controversy = better sales". And I don't think they're far wrong on that score, if I'm honest.

People are going to buy the title for most likely one of the following three reasons: 1) They like the game; 2) They hate it and want to prove their point by being able to say they played it to give their claims about it some gravitas or 3) They've never played a DMC game before and are intrigued by not only the appearance of the title itself, but also the drama surrounding it. Either way, Capcom are lol'ing all the way to the bank.

Cashing in on other people's misfortune. But you're right, they know we don't know any better and we'll buy it because of one of those three reasons you mentioned. Either way, they're making money whilst we all just bitch at each other over little points.

Not really. The people who doesn't want to get this game is a minority. I doubt NT or Capcom will lose alot on this title, if anything, really. Just a few random fans here and there, and though that's a shame, then it's not much of a loss.
A minority on this forum you mean. Not a minority everywhere. =] *is being a pest* XD
