Good point. But still, that leaves six people who wouldn't pay anything =/

I'm guessing the reason DMC 3 has sold the least is all due to its release year.
i think your right. DMC1 was a break out game. very innovative and a must have as an alternate to resident evil. dmc 2 had momentum and thats why the sells were so high. dmc3 had no momentum for its release. alot of people blamed capcom and lost faith, and refused to buy the game (so much for that theory) and the reviews for dmc3 would push the next gen version, dmc4, to an all time high.

So now we are coming off the low success of DMC4 with DmC the reboot which has been getting alot of negative feedback around the web.

If we are to go by what you said about people blaming Capcom and losing faith then the same could happen with this new reboot.

After all DMC4 didn't do to good review wise and now Capcom has decided to make alot of changes that ****ed off alot of fans.

I think history may repeat itself here and DmC will have low sales like DMC3.

Does that mean that this game is going to suck?

Probably not. It could have low sales and still be a very good DMC game that fans choose to get after seeing how good the reviews are.

But there is also a chance that it could fall flat on its face.

Either way I'm eager to find out more about this game and see how this plays out upon its release.

DMC4's Metacritic score was actually an 84...Not bad at all if you ask me.

I didn't say that it did horrible review wise.

So of course some sites gave it a good score.

But what I mainly was referring to was the fans reception towards it. It didn't do to good in that department although it also did not necessarily do to bad either.

I actually liked it myelf, but there where alot of "flaws" in the game and one of the major complaints from fans was the amount of backtracking.

DMC4 wasnt a fail like dmc2 was, it was just over hyped, and was the follow up of the best game so far. Its sales were the highest of the series within the first year. You could say that puttin it on multiple platforms helped alot too. As for fans being disappointed with it, i think many people expected more of the story to flesh out but thats the only let down. Gameplay was above par with everything on the next gen platforms. I think DmC will sell as much as dmc4, maybe not all in the first week but within a year or two. Or it could actually suck. I dont see it being as disappointing as dmc2(not is sales, but overall game) so it still will sell a decent amount. As for Capcom trying to sell 5 mill......not gonna happen

Yeah, I agree. Good points.

Depends on my situation, if I happen to not be saving for anything at the time. I like Collector’s Editions and if it has good reviews, I’ll get that. I’ll probably pay about £25 for it otherwise. It’ll be about £40 when it comes out but these types of games depreciate so quickly.

Suuuuure. :p

You know, Asmo, just because you like the new DmC doesn't mean its good. Trolololololol <--Teasing :)

Indeed it doesn't. It goes both ways. And it is all up to the individual to form an opinion about it.
However, that has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

*nods head in agreement*
yep. It was about your impression you got from all the details that have been given. Who would be willing to spend money on anything with the label DMC, who wouldnt. Who needs to see a finished product to make any kinds of assumptions. Who needs little info to make assumptions. Who is broke and needs other games and who is broke and must have this game. Its a little for everything because everyone has their of assumption about DmC.

Responding seriously to a tease FTW! XD :P

OT: It is interesting to see people want something because it has a certain label, in this case DMC. Makes me wonder what else people would buy that was labelled Devil May Cry. *has thread idea*

Since this is a "video game" and not some movie, or fan fiction, or Rebellion replica sword with the name "DMC" tagged on it, i dont think its to hard to believe in the name. Since the first dmc game, its always progressed. But the difference in gameplay is the biggest from dmc1 to dmc2. The sequel was disappointing because the combat wasnt fully realized because the title was made so fast. It was fully established in 3 and was perfected in 4. And during all this change in game mechanics, the story was pushed aside.

Capcom saying "DmC" was going to be the best selling game out of the series was pretty stupid because it took capcom 4 tries just to get the combat right. I'm hoping NT can do a decent job with the combat, where its easy to use but difficult to perfect. I want smooth gameplay and a variety of moves to choose from in any battle situation. It doesnt have to be exactly like dmc4 it just needs to be fun and familiar. If NT can make an engaging story, which their known for, the game should get high scores, but I dont think it will get game of the year or anything. Maybe the sequel will!. But i wont get ahead of myself.

I see some promise in the game, and deep down inside my big dmc heart i want this game to be the best game in the series.... but i'm like that for every release. I'll buy it and play it and review it, and play it again... dunno yet if i'll buy it again if i break it tho:D
