DmC interview: Capcom ‘had a lot to prove to you’

Then from a game point of view the storyline would've still been incomplete.
DevilMayCry 4 didn't wrap up anything, that's what i'm waiting for.
DevilMayCry 5 with the real Dante.

I doubt Capcom will deliver that. Capcom literally does't know how to end DevilMayCry. They've really dug themselves in constant holes and can't think about how to get out, or are just too lazy to think. But who knows, maybe DevilMayCry 5 will wrap it all up.

But there's a difference between Mickey Mouse and Dante.

Dante isn't as popular.

It is Capcom's fault for not being better story writers, but NT have created a story and setting that the old Dante would never fit into, so it's understandable.

Who knows. Maybe while Capcom is teaching NT about gameplay, Capcom is learning from NT how to actually write an interesting story for the original DMC.
I'm not sure changing the look that radically was necessary or Limbo couldn't have fit into Classic DMC.

My thought was the dmc world was rather vague with most things like the name of Dante's town, the era they live in plus Dante's town is rather nondescript and we never see the world as a whole. So it's not impossible after Dante hopped dimensions and travelled to a parallel universe.

So stranger things have happened.

Now, at this point, I am sick of hearing about the game, I want a demo, even though I am not even planning on buying this game, I just want Capcom, and NT, to release the best product they can with this game, while making sure old school fanbase gets the game they deserve. I wish both companies the best of luck.

lol nah i think it's the out of order sequence that's messing up Capcom's train of thought. DevilMayCry 5 ends it & that wouldn't be out of order lol.
I think they could continue with DevilMayCry 5 but have maybe it could be a prequel with Dante's father Sparta, & DevilMayCry 6 could be with Vergil. DevilMayCry 7 can be the ending Dante in hell freeing his father & Nero opening the dimensional door to let them both out because that's what Dante was preparing Nero for in DevilMayCry 4.
DevilMayCry 8 could be starting Nero & Trish getting where they need to be in DevilMayCry 7.
Capcom can continue DevilMayCry for two more generation of systems if they wanted to.

Geez...I always figured that DMC would go no more past than 6.

Why would Sparda be in hell? Isn't he pretty much dead and if he was in hell sh*t like the stuff in DMC3 & DMC1 wouldn't have flied so easily.

IMO Sparda is dead or in heaven/his own paradise.

Well not hell but a Demon realm lol.
I don't remember exactly but didn't someone lie to him & said Sparta was in the Demon realm.
So in DevilMayCry 2 when Dante went through the portal to close it from the inside he could be looking for Sparta.
But in any case i think in DevilMayCry 4 he felt Nero could take over if he couldn't.

No they didn't...I recently played all 4 games and no one ever said Sparda was in the demon realm.

Dante went through the portal to defeat Argosax and prevent it from leaving into the human world even if he ends up closing the portal and is stuck there. He is most likely finding a way out of hell but DMC2 Lucia's ending hints at his return from the demon world.

I guess that was what point of DMC4 was. Plus DMC4 happened way before DMC2....so I doubt Dante at the time thought or know he would be stuck in hell any time soon. Plus Dante isn't the type to think ahead like that maybe he hoped one day Nero can take over his duty as the next legendary demon slayer/protector of the world like how he and his father was.

Yea i know but it was like a just in case something happen Nero would be a great replacement.
Well see Capcom could totally spin it that way. lol this could add a few more games.
They could spin storylines where Dante runs into a demon saying they saw Sparta in the Demon Realm but oops Dante left never hearing any proof that Sparta is there. Dante hears it again from a different demon that Sparta is indeed in the Demon Realm so Dante wants to make sure by going back for his father, but how does he create a portal.

When it comes to games the most important part is the gameplay and everything else....even if DMC ends up having a great story...as long as the gameplay is good and not rehashed content from past DMC games over and over again or else DMC will end up as a poorly milked franchise...yes I'm looking at you Resident Evil.

Plus that was the point of Nero, Dante fanboys, otherwise DMC would've gotten boring to most gamers if it was just Dante and his gameplay mechanics over and over again but with new weapons....but I think DMC4 could've been a Dante only game since it was by DMC4(not DMC3) that they perfected Dante's gameplay mechanics....Nero was just there so the fans can get use to him for we all know Nero is going to replace Dante's role as the new main character.

By DMC4 Dante's gameplay mechanics were perfected...the only thing they could've done is streamline all of his styles/moves into the control scheme like DmC eliminating the purpose of Style Switching. There is always make other characters playable and not make them play like Dante(Trish, Lady, Lucia, & etc....maybe Sparda).

What about Vergil?

I find Vergil(gameplay wise) a nerfed and haxxed Dante....he only has one style that is pretty much similar to Trickster and only 1 attack button and the basic long range weapon button. Unlike Dante he is overpowered but very hard to use at his maximum potential but I literally find pressing every button violently to work and I pull off intense and high speed........ground combos. Yamato???......it might as well be another weapon in Dante's arsenal.....hell it was in DMC4....well as a style.

Seeing that Nero has some of Vergil's moves(like the Summoning Swords) and his Yamato.....DMC4 was Capcom's way of saying that Nero is Vergil's replacement ".....you want more Vergil we'll give you Nero instead....get used to him.....Vergil.......he's dead...deal with it......you want a Vergil comeback/resurrection.....yeah we're not skilled enough to do that without sounding retarded....so no...a Vergil sequel....pfffttt...for what purpose to explain some details about Vergil.....what details else....is he Nero's son....any details about Vergil relating to Nero can be explained in a Nero game....but if we're nice we can give you Vergil DLC in any future DMC games...maybe DMC5....it might be the last DMC game of this console generation so expect it to be jamming with DLC...."

I think DevilMayCry 4 was partly as you said.
Capcom not using Dante as an attempt to over use the character & add a little freshness to the series & Nero was brand new & a small step forward on evolving DevilMayCry.
Nero the new character with new possibilities for evolution in DevilMayCry & storylines to write roving around him.
I'd look forward to seeing DevilMayCry 5 with Nero as the lead.

Yeah, but a lot of fans didn't like that idea. Thus why Nero wasn't liked; cause he was gonna replace Dante.

randomlulz your scaring me.

Why is it surprising he wants to try the demo? You can't hate something unless you play it for yourself, otherwise your blowing hot air.
no the part about wanting them to make the best game they can and wish the best for both companies, it's like having Jack Atlas not knowing what a motorcycle is and not knowing they're for playing card games on and saying that it sounds silly,

Where's your proof that that's true?

For them to still have JC, Weapon switching, fluid gameplay, an actual good DMC story, Vergil pretty much untouched in appearence, Mundus back, Dante still cocky, stronger demons, Mundus returning, the world shifting, and the two brothers reunite to kick Mundus's ass, paying homage to both DMC1 and DMC3?

I'd say that's caring for your old fanbase.

The only reason some disagree is because a western development is handling it, and Dante doesn't look the same as before.

I would say, "this", and leave it at that, but I should probably offer something else...

Taking the best ideas from 1 and 3 was the best thing to do. However, I don't think 1 really deserves that much credit. I mean, nobody says that Street Fighter 1 kicked off the fighting genre. Everyone says that it was 2. I know 1 did it, but 2 did so much more, with frame special cancels, that it rocked the gaming world on the whole, completely.

It's the same thing with 1 and 3. One may have begun it, but it was so stiff (almost as stiff as street fighter 1...yes, I said it!) compared to 3, that 3 completely blew everything else away. I'm going to go as far as to say that gameplay-wise, it still competes with Bayonetta. I personally like it more.

So anyway, those are my thoughts on the matter.

Yes but he's far more excepted by alot of the original DevilMayCry fanbase then the DMC-Reboot Dante is.
If Capcom made a DevilMayCry title starting Nero there would be much less of an uproar then there is with DMC-Reboot.
The DMC-Reboot Capcom screwed up plain & simple.
They took away a fan favorite character icon & replaced him, no not re-designed but replaced him with DMC-Reboot version.
And alot of true hardcore DevilMayCry fans don't like that, if they did they would've jumped on the DMC-Reboot bandwagon from day 1.
Nero in DevilMayCry 4 compared to this was a much smoother transition to a new character, wasn't liked but fans excepted & understood.
It was a much smarter way of keeping the hardcore fans & gaining new fans & evolving a longtime series with something fresh.

All I really saw of Nero was some kid trying to copy Dante.

And new Dante is pretty much the same Dante but just re imaged.

There's a lot that reboot Dante and classic Dante share in common, but it's not very noticeable because there's too much things this Dante does differently from the past. New Dante to me is DMC3 Dante but more of "What if DMC3 Dante was a real person?"

Oh come on! Can we stop with the use of the silly 'true fan' moniker? How does being more passionate about a game make you a 'truer' fan than the others? The 'true fan' title is one of the most bull plopiest tag I've ever seen. It serves nothing other than to divide the fan base of a game.

Anti-DmC camp sillyboys: You're not a true fan if you like DmC.
Pro DmC camp sillyboys: You're not a true fan if you don't like anything that has the DMC name on it.
Result: Incessant bickering

I do not detect any sort of hostility from your post, which is fine, but I really think that this 'true fan' nonsense needs to stop.

Really ?
So your disliking a character that mimics Dante but is named Nero in a DevilMayCry game develop by Capcom alone.
YET your totally on board with a character that looks nothing like the DevilMayCry Dante but goes around claiming the name in a title that's develop by Ninja theory that's not even out yet.
So your just a fan of the name DevilMayCry.
Since when was Dante a cry baby and had a love interest?

1. I never said Nero mimics anyone, i was quoting a reply.
Oh. Sorry then.
2. What do you expect, that's his love so of course he's going to go nuts. Love does that to people.
I can't really reply to this anymore due to (1.)
3. That's what being passionate about something is, truly believing in it & good or bad your standing by it & defending it all the way.
Those are fanatics, not hardcore fans.

Nero was nothing like Dante in DMC4. When he was fighting demons, he was like Dante and came off as a kid trying to copy someone's swag. Nero needed his own swag.

And yes, I'm on board with new Dante. Why is that so weird? People take a shine to what they like and what they think is cool. Haven't you ever liked something that no one else liked?:/

He didn't have to throw a hissy fit when kyrie was taken away since he is, supposedly, trying to mimic Dante.

That's because Kyrie was his first love. Nero's never felt love before so of course he's mad. He didn't want her involved but now she is and there was nothing he could do to stop them. You can only keep all that anger and sadness in for so long.

Fanatic means it has no flaws, nothing is wrong you deny the mistakes & everyone should believe it's the greatest thing in history.
Being passionate means you see & acknowledge the flaws, you don't deny anything & you still support your choice because your happy with it.
DevilMayCry & DMC-Reboot has the passionate & the fanatics.
The third point in your previous point states that a passionate/hardcore fan will defend whatever they support regardless of whether it's good or bad. I don't see how defending both the good and bad of something is an acknowledgement of something's flaw(s). If I look at your post from a different perspective, I can somehow understand what you're talking about but only vaguely.

I'm new to posting here, but I can't ignore this. I looked up fanatic and here's what I got, "1. a person whose enthusiasm or zeal for something is extreme or beyond normal limits." And that's what we've seen with some of the DMC fandom when it comes to the reboot.

I just couldn't let that one go. And DragonMaster, your sig fits the rhythm of my music so well to the point that it's distracting. Thanks. lol.
