DmC interview: Capcom ‘had a lot to prove to you’

For the love of god, I don't understand why people still use the TGS 10 Dante's picture in recent articles! I mean so much has changed since then and haters are still babbling about Dante looking like crack head pointing out that picture!! If a kid grows up in the streets without his parents and is tortured all the time, how can anyone suppose him to look like a faggot from a Jersey shore? At least, this Dante is more manlier in his teens then those pretty boys ever will be!

2010 Dante is the cutest. I want to see him in the prequel of DmC.

"...it was really awesome for Ninja Theory and I think they learned a lot. They’re going to be making amazing combat games for years to come now."

Cut and print. Best part of the interview by far.

To be honest, I also like the TGS 10 Dante more than the recent one. He looked more angry, gritty and edgy, totally antisocial! I remember NT telling something like "making a game only for fans will kill the series" or something like that so i don't understand why they scraped the original idea and changed him just because people moaned about it!

the 2010 one look good on paper but his CG counterpart was not good any artist can tell thats rough draft and despite you you say 3010 was kinda pitching the idea now they have finally found one that works.Ninja theory is still making decil may cry so the have to apeal to old fans as well to an extent everyones all like hater gonaa hate stop complaining but that complaining got us this far imagine if noone said anything.Tameen and Alex response to to that is its shows they care because if none did this product would be usless

Not to sound rude but you seriously need to do your English homework first! Anyway, I'm happy how everything shaped up, it's just I liked TGS10 Dante more! His eyes reflected the anger and hunger for revenge!

Good find joker :D

to be honest i see why they pulled out all the stops here. since day one DmC has been an uphill battle. im glad they can put their money where their mouth is.

The previous Dante 2010 was indeed concept art. They were given access to the Avatar studio and the actor did not look the part. That's why he looks the way he does now and for that look, his in game/cutscene facial expressions are the closest I've seen to realistic next to LA NOIRE.

Whoa. :w00t:

I knew you liked Dante, but I didn't know you liked the 2010 one a whole lot more. Anyway, I liked him then, and I also like him now.

Because Dante sucks and is a total emo. Bishie anime protagonists will always be better than Dante. Anime rocks and is super ultra unique. Each and every one of them has something different and special to offer.

See? Looks like I won this argument. :troll:

I actually miss 2010 Dante... Ah well, maybe he will actually appear, just at a different point of the game or it's sequels.

Fanboys gonna hate. Their fault for missing out on something awesome.;)

However;

DmC’s gamescom demo. If you’re not interested in this, there’s something wrong with you.

Not good. Don't call someone strange because they don't like it.

I liked 2010 Dante's coat design and pants... I dig Dante's black-ish jeans right now but I'm a sucker for those long and wide at the bottom ones. Not exactly like DMC4 Dante because those things were like graves he had on top of the regular pants... way too fancy-looking. Then again, besides DMC3, Dante has always worn pretty fancy clothing.

Back to the topic at hand though, I liked the interview. It covered good background stuff regarding DmC's development and how Capcom worked with NT in order to produce the final... well... product. They sure risked a lot in rebooting the franchise, especially if they could end up not delivering what is expected of a DMC game. And I gotta give my regards to NT for it because they really are working hard on the game; to make it their own while keeping that DMC feel of the series is a damn difficult job... nvm making the game itself. But after two years in the making, you know this is going to be a good quality game, at least.

Something tells me Capcom is saying this just to win money in their pocket, and in truth they didn't care in the slightest about the old fanbase.

They probably took the chances anyway. A game that would attract newcomers and at least half of the old fanbase. Capcom like changing their games a lot though, so I would suggest not getting too attached to their games or else stuff like this will happen quite often. It happened with Megaman, it happened with the new direction Resident Evil has taken, etc... Or, should I say, get attached but keep an open mind once they take a new approach to the series, I guess.

Where's your proof that that's true?

For them to still have JC, Weapon switching, fluid gameplay, an actual good DMC story, Vergil pretty much untouched in appearence, Mundus back, Dante still cocky, stronger demons, Mundus returning, the world shifting, and the two brothers reunite to kick Mundus's ass, paying homage to both DMC1 and DMC3?

I'd say that's caring for your old fanbase.

The only reason some disagree is because a western development is handling it, and Dante doesn't look the same as before.

Mundus, stronger demons which is shades of DevilMayCry 3 & Vergil are all favorites of the original DevilMayCry fanbase.
It's an attempt to get the old fanbase to like the DMC-Reboot.
Dante's original look was iconic with the DevilMayCry name, if they cared a little more then they would not have changed him.
It's like replacing Mickey Mouse with Speedy Gonzales.
Sounds like a cheap knock off to me.

But there's a difference between Mickey Mouse and Dante.

Dante isn't as popular.

It is Capcom's fault for not being better story writers, but NT have created a story and setting that the old Dante would never fit into, so it's understandable.

Who knows. Maybe while Capcom is teaching NT about gameplay, Capcom is learning from NT how to actually write an interesting story for the original DMC.
