Having a big ego and being insecure, not a great combination. I'd be more willing to accept your opinion if your posts weren't laced with this attitude "Embrace the changes and you can thus call yourself a real fan."

If you're referring to me, no, that isn't what I have done at all. I created a thread (at another member's very reasonable request) to separate the discussion from the picture thread, because we were going off topic. I also created it to give you (and anyone else who doesn't like DINO) an open forum, if you will, to create your own positive nickname for the DmC game and character. I don't see how that is humiliating. I quoted my response to you so you wouldn't have to go back and forth between threads.

(And let me just say, I hope you don't leave the forum under such silly pretenses. Acting like a martyr, especially one that no one is even persecuting, over something so insignificant as an acronym used by a few people for a videogame is pretty pathetic. Wait until something epic happens before you storm off, so you can make your exit with pomp and circumstance.)

Are you offended because he isn't actually in accord with emo fashion or because of the negative connotation assumed by people when they call him emo? It sounds like the former, which isn't that big of a deal. The emo label primarily refers to his black hair, I think, and his thinner (opposite of wide) clothing. I suppose he is closer to grunge than emo though. I'm not sure how that relates to your own fashion choices, since you even describe yourself as dressing emo...

That's kind of vague though, isn't it? And it isn't much more expedient than simply typing New Dante; it is the same amount of characters. It also doesn't have a positive spin on it.

Something from Alighieri might be useful. La Vita Nuova? Too feminine maybe, and too long. A designation for the new game could certainly be DMC Limbo. Maybe Shady, for Dino, to evoke both his presence in Limbo city, his appearance as a "shade" of his former self, and his black hair. Sounds kind of silly to me, but it definitely fits in with my boy band motif above. Shady D and the Funky Fresh Crew...

The thing is, no one is doing anything to him. I made the thread to separate the discussion from the picture thread, and gave him and anyone who doesn't like the negative nicknames to make their own. Yeah, I made that tongue-in-cheek statement about whining and complaining, but I think that is a far cry from trying to censor his opinion, and in fact, it is the total opposite.

Hmm, yeah, that's better. Although, I think you would still have to qualify it with a "Dante" or a "D," since it doesn't refer to him or the series in the name.

I invite people to come up with their own acronyms, or even backronyms. Dante In New...sOmething. I don't know, I have a hard time thinking past DINO.

Meg: He might come back after he has had a while to cool down. I don't think it was so much an issue of seeing it through a DINO supporter's eyes, but through Asmo's. I guess I'm the de facto bad guy here, alas.

Neo Dante sounds pretty epic. Reminds me of Gradius Gaiden. Big Core sounds silly, but call it Neo Big Core and it sounds epic for some reason.

Greek prefixes tend to lend a sense of epicness to anything. Greek terms in general do that. Apocatastasis, Apocryphon, To Mega Therion, Protevangelion, etc.

Edit: What about Gaidante? Kind of like Gaiden. Gai means outside or foreign in Japanese, so it would be like "strange Dante," "outside Dante," implying something outside the regular conception of him. GaiDMC.

the nickname wasn't invented to be an attack against you. this thread wasn't made to 'humiliate' you. the world doesn't revolve around you.
lots of people here aren't happy with DmC and are expressing it with satire. if you don't like it, you can't ask the entire forum to censor itsself on your behalf. to be perfectly honest, i'm amazed that it did.

it wasn't done to humiliate you, it was done so that you wouldn't wine whenever someone used a nickname.

so if you skipped all of the above, and were to walk away from this post with one message and one message alone, it's this: the world isn't going to censor its self on your behalf. if you have a problem, then you deal with it.

maybe if something as trivial as this is offending you then a break would be in your best interest.
