DmC Devil May Cry - Meet the Cast - 02 Fighting the Power

Crikey, all the wishful speculations are just getting out of hand. And so many threads have people hoping everyone's hair color and clothes change, even though that would have little implication of exactly what character development is occurring. They're trying to explain things more clearly and realistically in this game, so if your idea takes much effort to justify, you might as well drop it.

Just getting that out since I've seen some weird "what-ifs" pretty much the entire time I've spent at this forum. Now, if you're just making a wisecrack, that's fine. Just don't be so needy for stuff that would only happen in fanfiction, please. It hurts to watch.
Completely agrees. I really should stop the "what if" thingys.. I like DmC and i really don't care that much about hair and clothes. It's just some theories. But yeah we just should accept the game for what it is.

What silly pet peeve. There are thousands of "what if" or "fan theories" for the DMC franchise. It's not gonna stop here.

As a black haired dude with the hairstyle of classic Dante's, I couldn't care less about Dante's hair. Still looks awesome. But it still would be cool to see some white hair if its tied into the story properly.

I think his hair turning white could be tied to his weapons. Notice how in the beginning Dante's sword only appears in Limbo, but later on during the hostage scenes with Lilith and Kat, Dante's using his guns in the real world and the angel pull during some escape sequence. Even when Kat gets shoot, he has the sword on his back. That shouldn't be possible if he's interacting with people in the real world (and Dante is because he's holding his hands up like Kat was before getting shot. If the swat team couldn't see him, he wouldn't have done that.)

In comparision to Vergil, his brother carries the Yamato with him at all times. It doesn't appear to be like any normal sword since we've seen what Vergil can do with it in the recent Downfall trailer. So what does that mean in Dante's case?

I got a feeling that the stronger Dante gets, more and more of his hair is going to turn white -like Vergil's- and he'll be able to stay in demon trigger mode for longer periods of time, until he reaches the same level of power Vergil is at, and possibly even have full white hair. And I think this'll show tooeffect him being able to summon his weapons in the real world, instead of just in Limbo.

It couldn't be black dye, because his hair was black as a child, too, unless he was always dying his hair from the get go. As it stands, he's getting white patches of hair as his magic gets stronger, and by the end it'll have become completely white.

The thing about theories is it's something you enjoy reading. But it's kinda disappointing when it doesn't happen.

yall missing the point Vergil is Australian that means so is Dante...IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW!!!
and using this i found an old family video of the boys when they lived down under

Oh yeah, I'm cool with people playing with theories like, "is Nero Vergil's kid," and "did Sparda train any other demons?"

It's theories like, "this game will actually secretly be a prequel to DMC 3 and the characters will become their old incarnations," I find irksome, because they're totally absurd and only exist because they're rooted in desperation. And most of the hair-related predictions seem to allude to this in some fashion.

Still, it's true that it's a stupid pet peeve. ;) A few months of it just got to me, so I apologize if I offended anyone.

Back on-topic, Australia is probably a decent place to train for demon-killing, since it's about as close to Hell as you can get when it comes to local species.

OMG Its Purple Jungle Fury Power Ranger playing Vergil! That's two Power Ranger actors playing Vergil!
SSSSSSSSSWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
Damn Sage is gorgeous!!!! To bad Kat isn't. Plus she killed her demon father, so she's the new Lady!

" My foster father was a demon .... so i killed the b@stard"

alright i can't be the only one who sees the similarities here !
she is human , knows a lot about demons , helps Dante fight them and killed his own father who was a demon

I'm calling it , Kat is the new Lady

It looks to be that way (even the way she dresses is similar), and I don't like it. If they wanted a new female character, she should have had a completely unique history. But if they wanted to reboot Lady like Dante, then they should have called her Lady (or at least Mary) and kept her notable features (like her mismatched eyes). Kat seems to be a combination of the two strategies. I wonder if NT wanted to avoid another huge fan fallout, so they took their early Lady redesign, renamed her "Kat", took away her guns and went from there. I like her, but Lady was a great character who shouldn't have to share story similarities with someone brand new.

Then again, maybe by the end of the game, Kat will have a rocket launcher and new lease on life, along with a brand new nickname...anything's possible.

You guys are getting a little bent out of shape over a perceived likening of Kat to Lady. Let's take a look at the key differences before we go saying Kat=Lady, shall we?

- Kat killed her step-father after discovering he was a demon / Lady's father was a human who killed his wife in an attempt to become a demon
- Kat is a street artist who wears a hooded sweatshirt and uses spraypaint and molotov cocktails / Lady is a school girl armed to the teeth, complete with dress shirt and plaid tactical...skirt...

...seriously, this is a really, really weak link. Kat is an original character, and there is nothing wrong with that :/ Don't get so upset believing something so flimsy anyway >.<

Just because she killed her demon father means nothing. Trish helped "kill" her demon father and Lucia killed her demon father too. Lady wasn't the first and only.

I was beaten.

i don't know , it just seems that way

i mean there are more similarities than differences here ( like necklace , similar hair cut , etc ) , i actually made a thread about it a few months ago

i think Kat is the new lady and by the end of the game she will get most of her key features from original series ( like Kalina ann and guns , etc ) but that's just my opinion and i could be wrong

Yep, they're both independent female leads with a personal grudge against demons. Then again, I guess Lucia could fit that description just as well.

Also, Kat is branded, so that's one more similarity she shares with Lucia. I don't actually believe that for a second, but I certainly wouldn't say there are more similarities than differences between Kat and Lady. Also, forgetting about the major difference in hair color, Kat's hair is parted, and in concept art it comes down quite a bit lower than the clavicle (although she does remove the hood in-game and it doesn't seem so long).

Kat has more potential as an original character than a rehashed Lady, so I hope they don't try to water her down like that.
