Let's put it this way- for people like me who like to dispatch enemies in an intelligent way, I'd like more of an award than someone who's always hiding from their enemies and shooting from the sidelines. Besides, the whole point of Bloody Palace, to me, is to be under extreme conditions and make it out alive. Without a timer I wouldn't have such a sense of urgency, which would really dull the edge on the experience.
Sure, it's a cheap mechanic to add that feeling, but it works, and I think I would rather have it. It's perfectly fine if other people find it annoying, since that's kind of the point. If you don't want the responsibility of being stylish within a time limit, then stand aside. I'll rule alone.
