Just the fact that DmC character name is Dante, has two guns, rebellion etc proves that he's a poser.Nothing much, I'm a supporter and I like what I've seen so far.

No, in fact that makes no sense. One reason is that the universe "new" Dante is in wouldn't make him aware of "old" Dante. A second, is that he doesn't have Ebony & Ivory (yet, it's been announced that he gets them later) and his sword hasn't been announced as Rebellion. So calling him a poser makes no sense.

White patch was removed recently, but I guess that doesn't change your opinion much. Calling a reimagined character a poser doesn't make sense to me, it be like calling every Link in a Zelda game a poser of the previous Link.
Also, I'm not going to vote on the poll because both options don't work, it's a reboot so of course he won't become the DMC Dante.
The reason why i call him a poser is because he's not Dante yet he is presented as him. And both characters clash.
1) Dante was born with white hair. It's by no means a result of demon powers (if this is what will happen at end of DmC).
2) Dante is not half angel
Besides Dante doesn't need to say "My name is Dante" - everyone knows him.

To be fair to you Dante47 DMC 2, 3 and 4 Dante are not so "authentic". They are copies of Dante. But they didn't go out of how Dante looks like, this they displayed with Devil triggers as well.
But as i have said DMC was probably not meant to be a game with in depth story and characters. And it never got chance to become more because Hideki was not part of DMC 2, 3 and 4.
So Dante's character was never worked on much more. But at least the Dante's after the genuine Dante (DMC 1) isn't so far away.

All your arguements are good, and my Zelda comparison wasn't the best. I just don't think he should be called a poser since its a remake. It doesn't seem fair, especially since its not released yet and that we know almost nothing about his personality.
But he is a poser. He poses as Dante. And we know only one Dante. And it's not DmC Dante.
If he really was Dante in a legimate way he would not need to tell anyone he is Dante. But he's a poser - a character made with Ninja theory's art style and equipped with demonic powers, two guns and a sword plus the name Dante.
Let's say we look at DmC Dante in a different perspecitve: Supposedly we say "DmC character is a Dante. Afterall many people have same name in common."
But then how is DmC Dante original? He has been given pretty much many of the things that defines DMC Dante.

PLUS because of fans rage white hair and red highlighted jacket in "Devil Trigger".
And rumours has it that he will have white hair at end of DmC. You may say "That means he will be Dante!", but no.

Also characters can live on even though games aren't tied to eachother. The Legend of Zelda serie shows us that. In every Legend of Zelda we see the same old Link in a different but PRETTY much same form.
And we have seen Dante in viewtful joe and another game. Is that Dante? Yes.
I know all of this, and no, I don't he will "be Dante!" because it's a reboot. But as I said, we don't have much news and rumors aren't much to go on. All I ask is that you don't treat me like I'm new to this series, because I'm not. You raise good points though and has given me much to think about.

Basically everthing that someone has done first makes all others who did the same thing posers.
