If we're going to be technical about alternative/parallel universes or whatever, then it is essentially the same Dante from the original canon, but to events and circumstances that happened in this AU, he's different. It's like what didn't happen in the canon timeline would of possibly happened in DmC's universe, which all culminate into this new Dante. So it he is not necessarily the very same Dante from the original series. In a sense, it's both him and not him at the same time.
I don't feel like DmC Dante is replacing the original Dante, but that they both exist in their own respective universe.
That's my take and understanding of this, but others are probably going to disagree still.

A video game character can't think. But the creators of DmC Dante based him off DMC Dante. So everything DmC Dante is doing is basically trying to pose as DMC Dante.
He is not a completely original character. He's just a punk trying to look cool using Dante's character.
You didn't read my whole post didn't you? I'm saying what didn't happen in the original canon may have happened in this one. If you don't agree or understand what I'm saying, that's just fine. It's only an opinion and what I can grasp of it.

Looking at how undeveloped Dante's character is i think of DMC Dante as a very flawed character. But you know? DMC game SEEMS like a game that was never intended to deliver you a great story, but a great gameplay. And after 10 years of DMC history Ninja theory was given chance to make the next hack and slash game that was gonna be the spiritual successor to DMC. And all of sudden people shooting and stabbing DMC left and right for not being a story game...
But they ended up using the same character, same ideas, same stuff etc. And honestly DmC Dante looks like a very bad poser.

As much as I like your opinion, I'm afraid that this game is a reboot of the series which has nothing to do with the original canon except borrowing ideas from it. I was so hopin' to get back the original Dante by the end of this game, but they killed all my hopes by announcing this game to be a REBOOT

Well, it's been pretty established that this is very very separate from the original, but it's an completely different universe so it's hard to expect things to be the same. But I understand where you're coming from, since I really like the original series a whole lot too. I'm sad about it too :c
DmC reminds me a lot of the Marvel comics, where they have the main continuous storyline in the main universe, but have many other universes where the characters from the main universe are very different from their original selves. Like in one storyline, Ironman is a woman and marries Captain America in an alternate universe.
So I just carried that attitude to this game, but everyone feels differently about everything so....
Anyways, NT said to keep an open mind about this game and I hope that people can do that.

Now i see where you're coming from Hello Video games aren't comics wake up ! they don't get published like comics every game takes a lot time and effort there can't be two Series parallel (although i wish) but it can't its either DMC or DmC so now they've rebooted it its all up to them on what they do now i'm speechless

Well, after disrespecting the fans of DMC, calling Dante being uncool and laughable, and then giving us this beat-up smoker with the name of Dante, it's kinda hard to be open-minded. Atleast, for me, it is.
I know they aren't the same thing. It's more of a way of story telling than technical development. I'm majoring in video game design so I already know that it takes a long time to develop a video game. I agree about how nice it would be to have two parallel series for this, but why are you getting so riled up about how I'm viewing this? Like I've said time and time again, it's just how I see things. You're welcome to have your own opinion and I'm not gonna bother you about it.

No, it's totally understandable, the public handling of this was really poor. I haven't been really bother to read up interviews or watch them either for this reason. But I'm trying to keep the actual game separate from PA disaster and hope it'll still be a good game, even though I'm expecting for the worse.
