to be fair I think they had the intire plot for the series already planned out completely


They also have a much larger team, more resources more experience in the series based on the fact that every new iteration had previous games to build upon. Also, this DmC has only been in physical development since late 2010. After they finished Enslaved.

Assassin's creed may be the only case where I'm wrong. Not counting other yearly installment games like Call of Duty and Madden of course.

But yeah. It's normal for huge companies to be able to turn out games quickly and consistently.
Devil May Cry 4 was announced in 2005 and released in 2008, and Bayonetta also took two years to make (I think).
