Devil Trigger, and Dante's future talk

I can't help but raise my eyebrow at the fact that it's a Devil Trigger but no devil. Maybe they should name it something else.

Well Devil Trigger is merely a game mechanic term. Dante never once said he was going into devil trigger mode. Vergil called it an awakening and i think somewhere else it was called a devil form. In DmC its still just a term for an awakened state, its not being literal at all.

Well I thought that was the technical term for it, Devil Trigger, and it was just an awakening in the first place...
I am most probably wrong though...

Actually its quite literal, Devil Trigger is exactly what it is, a trigger for demonic power. That's the reason why Dante's DT state changes with each weapon, because utilizing the power of each demon. So while has his own demonic form, it can't be utilized without taking up some other demon's power, that's why Rebellion needed to taste his blood in order to awaken.

In DmC's case, I'm in agreement with berto. It's odd that Dante's has a DT mode with no demon. I guess in this case it's merely a term.

Maybe the reason he has a trigger but doesn't have a demon yet is because he hasn't unleashed his full powers yet?...
I thought he was still a kid in the making of some sort?...

Exactly. What if dante does awaken and triggering the transformation is still the same buttons. Would that make more sense because its actually a demon form? I still think DT is a gameplay term for the user. And the only time Dante changes demon forms was in dmc3. In dmc4 he had the same form the whole time.

That's because Capcom doesn't know how to keep consistent. In DMC 1, Dante only had two:

Alastor:

Ifrit:

(Note: none of them actually reflect Dante, but the Devil in the Arm he's using)

Yet, in DMC 3, he had five different variations of the same one, and in DMC 2 and 4 he had only one with a much stronger version that shows under certain conditions.

tell Capcom they shouldn't keep changing the game and get with the program! I do get sick of the fact it can sometimes differ from the other games, but changes are good sometimes, as long as they're not constant...

Seemingly, despite reality, Capcom never got the hint that DMC 1 was good enough. I mean seriously, did they not see that Alastor & Ifrit had better DTs than anything they came up with?

imo dmc2 had the best DT :shifty:

Capcom just wanted more money and rushed dmc2, it actually sold pretty well at first but then the truth came out and part 2 was not as fun as the first one. ENTER dmc3 which i think is the funnest game on earth. And since it was close to the end of the ps2 and with all the hype around dmc3, here comes greedy capcom again. dun dun duuuun dmc4 for the ps3 $$$$$$$

Ahh... But we digress, I wonder if his new DT will actually be a DT or called something else.

I hope Dantes hair slowly turn white, not when i trigger because thats just lame. And i hope the whole mechanic that came with DmC's DT is completely remade. Just make him stronger and faster

He already has a strong attack mode, how much stronger does he need to be?

Agreed, I recall at one point they said, despite this being a reboot, that by the end of the game, he would be the Dante we all know and love. And I want my Dante back!!!!!!

I just want a regular power boost like in previous dmc games, I dont want a cut scene and then floating enemies. Just a rage mode is all i'm looking for.

well that depends how you look at it. technically time hasnt stopped. Dante has just made himself fast enough that they are at a stand still. so you could argue that this is still your default rage mode. if your cornered or just feel a little impatient you DT and cut up ur oponents in mid air to get that SSSstyle we look for

I get why its faster. All the enemies slow down to a crawl. Its just Quick silver.
If they make it quicksilver in the final game i'll be fine with it. I just will only use it for more crazier combos.

In one of the earlier builds of the secret stage, I seen Dante go into his DT while in the air. It knocked all the enemies right up into him, but the combat was still very early at that stage, so everything seemed very choppy. You should be able to DT at anytime, just like QS, if their going to keep the same DT mechanic

I'd rather have Dante's overall stats be boosted and not have such a dramatic change of speed. The DT in dmc has never interrupted combat. And you could switch in and out for many different reasons and not just for fighting enemies. You could run faster, swing rebellion faster, e&i were stronger and could boost up faster, you could do everything you normally could do but faster.
The way DmC's DT looks, it doesn't seem like i'll be triggering while running from any giant monsters. Or even fighting a boss. As long as you can trigger at will and can only have a limited amount of time at first, then it will be fine with me. I'll just never use it....well of course i'll use it, but not all the time.^_^

My opinion on the DT .. i think its not really DT .. i think its just makes dante more powerfull ... thats why his hair is black .. because he is still weak .. but when use DT .. BANG ! Dante is more powerfull .. maybe when black hair = weak .. white hair = strong ... that could explain why in DMC3 all other DMC ..his hair is white ... because he is in another level of powerfull ...

I want Dante to get stabbed and his hair gets slowly turn white before that happens. That way, he'll be unleashing his true demon powers and his angel trigger can be released once he learns of his true past.
