1. what use would demons have for priests. their only religion is power and none are given it. in the demon world power must be taken and only those with power have any control.

2. what Xevnas will do in the human world... that is obvious. he will go to Fortuna then after he hears that Dante is in hell he will find a portal to the demon world and then go there. the question is what will happen once he is in hell.

3. i had an idea. since the Hell story is about Dante and Vergil but Vergil is unavalible. one of the best ways to send a message using supernatural power is in someones dreams. Vergil could try to get Dante's attention by making Dante dream about their past battles and since this is a game idea the player will have to fight those battles.
there are still two chapters with no major story events. can you think of two more important things Dante could do in Hell
Chapter 1- In Darkness : the start of Dante's story it will set up some of the later events.


Mission 1- Ritual Blade: Dante is in a room full of mirrors that don't show the room he is in. one of them shows a room in the castle on Mallet Island. Dante also finds Death Sentence ( the ritual sword frome dmc1 ( it was used to get the Melancholy Soul)
Mission 2-???: TRAVEL
Mission 3- Hidden Foe: Dante gets attacked by Nyx ( who neglects to introduce herself )
Mission 4-Bloodline: Dante meets Asteria who decides to help him. ( and also mentions having a daughter with Sparda)
Mission 5-Rematch: Dante encounters Mundus. Most of Mundus' power is still sealed so it is a relativly easy fight.

the idea of Mundus reproducing in a normal way just doesn't seem right ( for about a 1000 different reasons.) so i think it would be better to stick with artificial creations and Dante fights alot of those ( Blades, Assaults, Frosts etc. and Nyx) but i suppose we could throw in another and make him powerful enough that Mundus would consider him his son. now we need to name him.


i thought of one last idea. remember from my prequel ideas i mentioned that Hecate was involved in developing weapons for Mundus. one of the Chapters could take place in her old labratory and the last mission could have a boss battle against Nightmare.

so that covers all the major story events now we just need to fill in the blank missions.

1. a flashback to the first Nelo Angelo fight in the Dark Warriors chapter. that is an amazing idea. its so amazing that i put it in last week. ( mission 14)
2. all the flashback fights are things that could be connected to Vergil so a flashback of one of the Nightmare fights wouldn't work. that and there is already a Nightmare fight in this game ( mission 250
3. i have an idea for the last mission of Xevnas' chapter. since telling Xevnas to stay out of trouble doesn't seem to work Dante will fight Xevnas to make a point.( of course Dante will win)


this is taking too long and we already have a detailed enough plot for the hell story. we can just fill in the rest with random puzzles and boss battles as long as we make them interesting. we can name the unnamed missions along the way as well
HELL STORY CLEARED:

so let's start on the Earth story. it should be alot easier.

5 charicters
Lucia, Beryl, Selene, Trish, Lady

1 chapter per charicter.

basic plot for each charicter ( we will devide each one into five events adding if needed.)

Lucia:
Starts with Lucia waiting in Devil May Cry. she hears a motercycle ( Devil May Cry2's ending) the person on the motercycle is Trish. obviously both of them are a bit confused. once introductions are over Lucia tells Trish that Dante is still in the underworld. Trish is not worried she says she has somewhere to be and leaves. Demons attack and trash Dante's shop (again ) after the demons are defeated Lucia goes to try to find Trish. she finds her at a shop called the Shadow Palace ( Ziz and Selene's shop.) Ziz, Selene, Lady and Beryl are there for various reasons Lucia delivers the news that Dante is still in hell. no one is worried. Lucia is introduced to everybody. Ziz announces that he is leaving to go to Forutuna. Selene insists on coming along. Lady, Beryl and Trish all have missions to do so they don't have time to stay. Lucia deals with the demons nearby eventually fighting and defeating a large powerful demon in her last mission.

Beryl: not sure how to start it but at some point she will fight the same demon Dante fights in chapter 8 of the hell story. she is unable to defeat it. she calls Selene on her cellphone. Selene tells Beryl about a place where she can trap it long enough for Selene to finish what she is doing and help Beryl defeat it.

Selene: Ziz sends Selene back home with Yamato ( why Selene has Yamato is explained in the Heaven story). Ziz also asks her to retreave something for her from a Uroboros facility in Limbo City ( did i mention that i decided to use that name for the city Dante lives in since it's the closest thing to an offical name the city has)
Selene breaks into the facility and steals the item Ziz is looking for and a few more demonic artifacts Uroboros shouldn't have. then Selene gets a call from Beryl asking for help dealing with a powerful demon.( for more detail read Beryl's part of the story) Selene helps Beryl defeat the demon but the demon is able to open portals between Earth and Hell and easily escapes after stealing Yamato.( we really need to come up with a name for this demon it appears in two different storylines)

at the moment i can't think of story's for Lady and Trish. maybe something that connects to the anime story. i want to find a way to bring back Baul and Modeus. it seems interesting to show how they would react to the fact that Trish is the new owner of Sparda's sword. that and it was a waste to kill them after one episode in the anime.

Chapter 1- In Darkness : the start of Dante's story it will set up some of the later events.

then lets come back to this later. we do have a third story to work on. if you come up with any ideas for the earth story even if they seem stupid tell me but for now don't worry about it there is alot more to do.

Heaven story; important plot details: there are three different situations in the Heaven story basicly happening at the same time.

1.Charon/ Nero's power- Charon is a demonic spirit that was sealed in Yamato. it is now inside Nero's arm. it attempts to take control of Nero. Charon makes Nero paranoid convincing him that Ziz is trying to take Kyrie away from him ( not true ) and keeping secrets from him ( true). Nero eventualy fights Ziz twice . Ziz wins both times after the 2nd fight Ziz takes Yamato from nero and gives it to Selene. Charon convinces Nero that he needs more power. it makes Nero participate in the Ascension Ceremony to gain more power. Charon's plan backfires and Nero is freed from it's control. Nero defeats Charon and is able to use it's power along with the power he gained from the Ascension Ceremony.

Nero's Origins- at some point Nero finds out that Ziz knows who his mother is ( i haven't figured out how). Nero asks Ziz but Ziz says that it isn't safe for Nero to know. Nero attempts to figure out what Selene knows about it but she refuses to say anything about it at all. eventually Nero finds out that his mother is Hecate. ( haven't figured out how). Nero finds her and she explains everything to him.

The Order's leader- two people are trying to become the next leader of the Order of the Sword. one of them ( " Kipros") was the Captain of the Holy Knights 12 years ago. the other ("Xiphos") was Sanctus' advisor. Kipros considers Sanctus evil and beleaves that all of Agnus' research should be destroyed. Xiphos thinks that Sanctus was just misguided and wants to use Agnus' research " for the good of the world". the debate eventually turns into open warfare. at first both Nero and Ziz side with Kipros but Charon convices Nero to swich sides to gain more power. after Nero defeats Charon he rejoins Kipros. Ziz fights Xiphos but decides to let Nero be the one to defeat him. Nero fights and kills Xiphos. Kipros decides it would be best if Nero whould leave Fortuna due to all the things that happened.


the three plotlines are all basicly going on at once so they won't be neatly seperated like this. we need to decide the best way to combine them into one story and fill in a few details.

i was thinking more along the lines of:

the beginning of the third plot ( before it becomes a war) is the start of the story. then the second plot happens during the course of the second plot the confilicts in the third plot become a war. then the first major event of the first plot happens ( Nero fights Ziz for the first time) then Nero swiches sides then the chapters where Ziz is playable including the second fight between Nero and Ziz ( this time from Ziz's point of view) then the first plot finishes and then the third plot is finished.


Heaven story major events.

1. the first chapter shows the tensions between the two factions within the order and sets up the rest of the story.
2.Nero finds out that Ziz knows who his mother is and tries to figure it out
3. start of open warfare between the two factions of the Order.
4. Nero finds his mother.
5. First fight against Ziz
6.Charon convinces Nero to switch sides
7.first chapter where Ziz is playable. battle against Nero
8.second chapter where Ziz is playable battle against Xiphos
9. back to playing as Nero. Ascension Ceremony and battle against Charon

i had another thought remember in zero3 the mission where Ziz was in Agnus' lab. you came up with a few ideas for demons created by Agnus'. those demons should escape his lab during the first chapter. it would give Nero something to fight for the first two chapters and when Nero finds out where they came from it would provide a reason for the conflict between the two factions to become violent.

we still need to come up with how Nero finds out Ziz knows who his mother is and how he finds out where she is. that and we need to decide when Xevnas will show up.

i remember replying to this post before but i my post isn't here.

the exact demons don't matter at this point in game development so lets not worry about it for now.

there are two things we need to figure out at the moment.

1. how Nero finds out that Ziz knows who his mom is
2. how Nero finds his mom.

without those two details the story won't work.

since we are compleatly stuck on the story maybe we should work on the gameplay until one of us can think of more to add to the story.

Ziz is doing everything he can to keep it a secret he is not going to even hint at it to anybody.if Ziz was willing to tell Nero would have known years ago and Nero doesn't have the ability to beat Ziz. the reason Charon is able to manipulate Nero into swiching sides is because Nero needs alot more power if he is going to beat Ziz. EDIT: i figured out a way for Nero to figure out that Ziz knows who his mother is first Selene overhears Nero and Kyrie talking about the fact that Nero dosn't know who his mother is then she decides to talk to Ziz about it and Nero overhears the two of them talking.

BASIC GAMEPLAY INFORMATION:

left analog stick-walk/run
RB/R1- lock on ( press down the left analong stick(LS/L3) to change target)

X/[]-Gun attack or Style moves if the charicter dosn't use guns.
A/X- Jump/ side roll ( A + left analog stick to the left or right)

back/select- taunt
LB/L1- Devil Trigger or charicter specific ability if the charicter doesn't have DT.
B/O, LT/L2,RT/R1, and the right analog stick ( RS/R3) will be used for Style moves and charicter specific abilities
D-pad- weapon select
( past this point i will use Xbox360 controls because they are easier to type
Basic Gameplay Changes:
1. can swich between 3 weapons of each type on the fly with the D-pad
2. expanded movesets for each charicter,weapon and style
3. all of the charicters styles can be used at the same time.
4. weapons now level up along with the styles.
Weapon levels: as each weapon is used the charicter gains experience with the weapon and the weapon will level up unlocking more moves.

Styles: in previous games styles have just been sets of a few extra moves in this game the Styles have been expanded to affect and be affected by the way you play. the more often you use tactics associated with the Style the stronger the charicter is with those tactics and the faster the style levels up gaining new moves. for example:

Swordmaster style "a style that takes the users close combat abilities to their absolute limits"
Tactics: stay close to the enemy and use devil arms to deal damage
Benifits: close range attacks become faster and deal more damage,Swordmaster style levels up faster.

in addition the number of moves for each style have been increased and the moves you use for weapon related styles are affected by what you are doing with that weapon.

Skills: moves for each charicter unrelated to weapons or styles.
examples:
Kick Jump: A (near a wall, in mid air)- kick off the wall to jump again without landin ; all charicters can use this move from the begining of the game.
Air Hike- A (in mid air) "concentrate demonic energy under your feet to jump while still in the air"; most charicters with demonic power can learn this move.

Weapon select: the charicter can equip three of each type (Devil Arm or Gun) of weapon at a time you can choose which weapons are equiped in the pause menu. you can choose from all the weapons you have found for that charicter. one of the weapons for each type is the active weapon and will be the weapon you use. you can change the active weapon at any time during gameplay with the D-pad.
Devil arm1: the charicters main close range weapon; cannot be chainged
Devil arm 2: set in the pause menu
Devil arm3: set in the pause menu
Gun1: the charicters main long range weapon; cannot be changed
Gun2:set in the pause menu
Gun3 set in the pause menu

left: switch to Devil Arm2( if Devil arm2 is the active weapon switch to Devil Arm1)

up: switch to Devil Arm4( if Devil arm4 is the active weapon switch to Devil Arm1)
down:switch to Devil Arm5( if Devil arm5 is the active weapon switch to Devil Arm1)


Signature Weapon: the charicters main weapon of each type( eg. Rebellion and Ebony and Ivory for Dante) the charicter will always have this weapon as one of their eqipped weapons and it will be the charicters default active weapon for that type. the Signature weapons will have larger movesets than most weapons, will be stronger than similer weapons ( eg. E&I have a higher rate of fire than other dual pistols) and sometimes will be involved in the charicters Skills and sometimes even other weapons movesets.

Charicter specific abilities: other things the charicter can do that don't fit in the movesets or styles ( eg. Exceed from 4, quicksliver and doppleganger from 3)

oh and there is on thing i forgot to mention. i have decided that each charicter will start with 6 weapons ( three Devil Arms and three Guns) to make full use of the ability to switch weapons at any point in the battle.( charicters that don't use Guns will start with 5 Devil Arms)

CHARICTER PROFILES AND MOVESETS

Dante:

In game description: "the younger son of the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda. Dante has become a leagend in his own right even amoung those that do not know of his heritage. a year ago Dante defeated the Devil Emperor Mundus. he has also defeated many of his father's lesser enemies. many think that Dante has surpassed Sparda. Dante himself dosn't really care. he has no interest in his father beyond how his heritage affects his job. after his last mission Dante was trapped in hell and is trying to find a way to escape."

Appearence: modified from his appearence in Devil May Cry2. his coat has been damaged and patched together with peaces of Vergils coat from Devil May Cry 3 ( which Dante will find in the first cutscene of his story) the rest of his clothing is also torn and dirty ( it is somewhat difficult to find clothing stores or laundromats in Hell)

Controls:left analog stick-walk/run
RB- lock on ( press down the left analong stick(LS/L3) to change target)
Y- Melee attack.
X-Gun attack
A- Jump/ side roll ( A + left analog stick to the left or right)
B- Swordmaster/ Gunslinger(switch with RT)
LB- Devil Trigger
LT- Royal Guard
Right analog stick/ RS- Trickster
start- pause menu
back/select- taunt
D-pad- weapon select
