Devil May Cry (2016)

Fake Geek Girl.
I usually keep up with movies and the green light has been given to the Devil May Cry movie based on DmC. Now I know this news is a little old but since we're getting ever closer to the release of DmC this is just for funzies. I personally think DmC is the way to go for a live action adaption because it would translate quite well to screen. Casting Dante and the rest would be alot easier too.

So, as far as I know the project has only been green lit and has been slated for a 2016 release so I ask you, who would you want for this film? Fan cast and crew go!

Though I would love to see a movie depiction of the original series, I would probably turn out to be another cheesy, bad videogame-movie, but with alot of action and cool visuals. DmC seems to already have a really deep storyline that could be turned into a really good movie, so that is definately the game I would want to see become a movie, if any, and it would probably become the more succesful one outside of the videogame fanbase.

That said, movies based on videogames have a bad rep, because there are so many bad ones. So it's a dangerous field to tread.

The light ain't green unless I see it myself. In other words, source first, then I'll come up with some ideas :)

As long as it doesn't end up like Resident Evil movies or the DOA movie.

I like the DMC movies to be like Resident evil but the demons in 3D.

So you want a movie where Dante is sidelined by some OC created specifically for Milla Jovovich who will be better in all ways than the actual lead of the games, and thus he's essential Alice's cheerleader while his character is ignored in personality and depth just to fawn over her?

Because that's exactly what the Resident Evil movies are...

I would hope for a story that mixes themes, styles, looks and elements of both DmC and DMC. They're both equally valid to me.

And she'll wear leather, quote "My name is Dantisha" at the beginning and narrate the entire plot up until that point in case you dozed off during the other films, before fighting in slow motion.
Because god knows I was dozing off during the other Anderson Ev...I mean...Resident Al...I mean, Alice Hazard...I mean BioAnderson...

I think I dozed off enough during those movies enough to forget which title they even go under anymore, since it's anything BUT Resisdent Evil or BioHazard in actuallity.

I'm still praying that they will cancel this whole thing, because honestly? A live-action Devil May Cry movie? How the Hell is that supposed to even work?
No, I'm not talking about the story, because that could be done, but only if they'd get a good screenwriter who is a fan themself and knows what he/she's doing, know the character, the atmosphere, etc. But who are we trying to fool? That's not gonna happen, so even story wise it'll be a disaster.
But what I actually wanted to say why it not going to work is the combat. I guess I don't need to mention that it is impossible for a human being to do any of the stuff Dante does without being held up by thousands of strings and stuff. And that is going to show. It'll look ridiculus! I mean, have you ever whatched a movie that had over the top action scenes done really well? I sure haven't. For example, that one scene in the first RE movie when Alice kicked that dog Zombie. I was just sitting there laughing for a few minutes because it was just so bad! Or that infamous gif of that one Twilight movie in which Bella jumps at some kinda animal. The only time it somewhat worked was in Sucker Punch, but that might have been because they worked with a lot of slowmotion suff, idk.
So how in the world would that work with something like DMC? The only way it could become a good movie was to do it a computer animated movie thingy. But looking at that first Resi computer animation movie thing, it didn't work out too well either :/
So yeah, I would rather see no DMC movie at all then living with the thought that a really bad one exists out there.

Has anyone seen the new Kenshin movie? I just saw it yesterday and the characters were spot on. From the actual attire they were wearing right down to the way they walk. It was one of the best movies i've seen in a long time, not to mention it was a great adaptation from manga to a movie. If DmC wants to take something from this movie, it needs to focus on the big main characters and stay absolutely true to their roots, and try not to add any new special traits that will upset the fan base, but keep the character real enough to someone not familiar with the story can become engaged. I still have to say that Rurouni Kenshi was a very good film.

edit: here is a trailer

i would suggest they get alex garland to be the screenwriter you know why?
because i was browsing through twitter the other day and saw tameem tweet thanking alex garland who worked on dredd (2012) in writting the script for DmC game. i think he would be a good choice in writing the script for it since he is familiar with the material

DMC Movie?! Sure!
Although I am skeptical about "moving the game to the big screen", however'd love to see Dante in cinema. :)

Oh, I've been meaning to see that movie for such a long time! :w00t: (HUGE Rurouni Kenshin fan here)

I think game-based movies are getting better. I just watched Gyakuten Saiban (Turnabout Court) with my girlfriend last night, and that was some damn good representation of the first game. Silent Hill was also a decent representation of what the games were.

The funny thing is, DMC is probably one of the few franchises that is actually suited for a cheesy movie adaptation; the series has a history of thin plots and funny dialogue, so for it to be in movie form, not a whole lot could go wrong, as long as the series was handled with care.

I don't really care which they turn into a film, as I like both DMC and DmC, but I'd almost say it'd be better to just make a new one, a one-shot. They should definitely get U'den Flameworks back for the choreography though...they're the ones responsible for all of DMC's "cuh-rayzeee" cutscene action, so they're the only ones that could do a film adaptation's action justice.

Although, I'd probably giggle like a schoolgirl just seeing a Hightime E&I Juggle on-screen :P And a Rainstorm :x

I just saw that the other day as well, at my gal's behest. It was really cool, although they removed several characters from the arc they were showing in the film. My girlfriend was disappointed because they completely replaced Aoshi and his gang with Jin'ei. Still good, regardless.

No.
Nope.
Uh-uh.
Na-da.
Nu-uh.
No.

I've seen this before.
There is no way this will be good.
If Resident Evil, Max Payne, and Hitman can't make one successful film, I doubt DmC will the film to break the norm.
