I really like the way DmC is shaping up, it looks great and I'm sure it'll play great. But at this point the more I see the more I think it won't matter; the sales will be terrible.

I know internet comments and Youtube likes aren't exactly the most accurate measure of anything; but when you go on official Capcom forums, Blog posts, and etc... and find that 9 times out of 10 people are saying that the game looks terrible and they won't be trying it. Then you see some company do a preview video on Youtube and say the game looks good; it gets 100 Likes and 900 Dislikes.

Then there's the little things too. Recently they've announced free DLC for pre-orders, and a demo that's far and beyond any demo I've ever heard of. I'd like to believe that this is just Ninja Theory being awesome and kind, but part of me wonders if maybe it's because the pre-orders are low and it's an attempt to get more people interested?

I really think DmC will be a good game. But just because something is good doesn't mean it will succeed and I think that far too many people have already completely written DmC off.

Maybe I've just been online too much lately and some of the negativity is starting to affect me.

Interesting; I don't like the way it looks at all so far but I think it will sell well. Because all I see anywhere is people raving about how amazing it will be.

It won't be legendary, but it will be good.

Capcom Unity is full of mad fanboys who are all bent out of shape about the change. For me, I think the game will probably be a better send off of the series from the past games. Just because fanboys are being bitchy, doesn't mean the game won't get scooped up by fans of the new game, and other gamers out there.

you need to understand that there are more then just a few gamers in the world and the haters are starting to deplete enough for the game to be solid. Hell some who boycotted the game now like it, so that's something to look into..

yeah honestly for me the likes thine is reversed where ill see 400 likes and 200 dislikes the only exception ive encountered was the vergil dlc trailer

The internet is never a good justification for how a game's sales will shape up. Remember that many of the people you see trashing the game are a lot of the same people, and some never even cared in the first place, just riding the hate train, and then there are many other people who will pick it up who don't spend every waking moment on forums or YouTube videos. A lot of the people trashing the game have always been a minority, but they are a loud minority that drowns out the supporters, and then you don't even see the people who just don't bother to say anything.

There's also a number of people who will maybe pick it up because people are trashing it. I can't count the number of times people have come into my store picking up games while saying "Everyone said it sucked, so I had to try it out," like what happened with Mass Effect 3. It got ****canned for its supposedly bad ending, but so many people flocked to it to see if it was true.

I cannot stress enough just how juvenile a lot of the hatred the game has gotten, right down to the ritualistic "new trailer? down-thumb it!" and people with too much time on their hands focusing so intently on something they hate, while others just go about their lives.

For every person who trashes it, there are those that support it, and within those are at least five or six people who don't bother saying anything.

Why isn't the game selling, dad?
Because we have to hate it.
But there was nothing wrong with it...
Because it's the game the fans deserve... but not the one it needs right now... So we'll flame it, because it can take it. Because it's not a ****ty game. It's an underrated piece of art. A highlight in the hack n' slash genre. A Devil May Cry game...

Well, the thing is the game does look terrible. People see it on youtube and it's really not that impressive. For whatever reason the game just doesn't transfer well to online videos.

I played it so I've seen the game on HD. It's pretty decent. It's not jaw dropping but it's deffinitly better than their youtube counterparts will lead you to believe.

YOu know, this very reason iswhy demos exist, so you don't have to pay $60 to find out the hard way.

You can't trust the vocal minority on things like this, trust me.

I hope this demo wins some people over, though. Two missions a bunch of weapons to try out and an unlockable difficulty? It seems like they're really trying hard.

I'm wondering about that. Just how many weapons are we getting on the demo? I got the standard 3, so that's what I assumed we'd get, but what if they add another or another 2? Maybe we get to try out the shotgun or the gaunlets.

The free dlc, thousands of trailers for this game, and all the extensive previews of the game are probably Capcom trying to push out the negativity surrounding the game. I'm pretty sure most people don't read internet forums or youtube comments so those opinions won't effect sales, but I don't think this game will sell GOW numbers (or AC numbers). DMC games never had mainstream appeal imo and that's why even this game won't sell beyond DMC4 levels. Like when the first Assassins Creed game came out it sold twice as many copies as DMC4...

Lol all 1 of them. Most if not all of them got banned or went to hop on the mgr train.

I wouldn't worry too much. A vast amount of the old fans are willing to give this new DMC a chance, and this reboot opens the door for a lot of new fans. In fact I see comments on many youtube videos saying stuff like, "Never played DMC, but I am really excited for this game" ect.

Well, I don't think so. I'm wishing for its success.

Anyways, someone told me that w/o fan support, this game will tank. And when he said that there is nothing you can do about it, I was like "Wha?"

*sigh* I'm starting to hate YouTube comments....

Truth is, most of the people against something will make their voices heard out of desperation, especially after a popular message, speech, or rant supporting their feelings is released. Most people FOR something aren't as vocal as those in a rush to tear it down, so you won't even know how many exist until the day comes for all to act. According to the raging right, one would think the Presidential election was close. It turned out the angry voices against the president were just louder than the larger, quiet masses who eventually voted for him.

It said that between seventy to ninety-five percent of those rabidly against a polarizing subject Will make an effort to affect said project vocally or with action. On the other hand, how many games have you bought without up-voting a single promo vid?
If 90% of the super-haters make it a savage effort to make their voices heard, make rant videos, hunt down and down-vote EVERY DmC vid they find, then only 400 dislikes on a promotion are pathetic. There are posts on the DmC Facebook that exceed 3000 likes for single pictures. This game's success will be decided by how many people like it, not how many don't.

Haha. Speaking of sales, I just convinced most of my irl friends to try out the demo. Others got hype about the free dlc we can get and went ahead and preordered the game. Even my best friend, who's extremely loyal to nintendo only, decided to add it to his list for the ps3.

Yeah, if there was a bizarro world of the youtube comments, it would by my area.

People who generally dislike the game don't just care about the game Although, i have known some people who don't like the game at first but decided want to try it out because of the Vergil's downfall trailer although it still gives a bad vibe to some of them for it being a DLC.

I wouldn't say that this game is destined to fail. The demo might turn the tables.
