Dante's character in a sequel

Ah, yeah, the Devil Trigger was inspired by that sorta of muscle fiber suit Dark Riku and Vanitas wore. Oh yeah, and now I can totally see it, because the wings coming off the waist are like the tasset, haha. Totally didn't realize it.

Not sure about RWBY though, since I never really had much interest in it, and most of what Monty Oum does, since I realized that I had seen pretty much every action movie he had ever lifted his choreography from :x

Perhaps he'll leave the city for like a year or 5 months for some special training in his fighting skills. And perhaps a spiritual journey with his nephilim self.

You know, I think he should have a RED jacket, and while I would prefer his hair to be long and white. I have a 'one size fits all solution' that has worked for my team for years

I will trade it to him, but I don't want any of his useless Devil arms. The only thing worth trading a hat for is another hat

This is what I have for Dante in my theoretical sequel. It's still "man-on-the-street" but way less disheveled, has more of private investigator look to him this time. And yes, canonically, there is underpants. The idea is that he wouldn't get a whole new wardrobe, but he would certainly look a little less like a bum he flew out of trailer in a hurry :p I've still gotta add some more straps for hiding his shotgun, and for items and stuff. Sorta like you mentioned, it's the idea of actually making it look like he doesn't just pull everything out of his butt. Some pack and pockets need to be put in.

The Devil Trigger is now progress, and i acts like his others, where it physically changes him, and in this it's his coat creating most of his demonic form, tightening and enclosing aroud his body.

-------------------

For those wondering "Why is he smoking?" Intense stress, smoking and drinking helps calm him. Sure it's a vice, but it's not just because it looks cool :p
The use of the Demon Arm reminds me of the snatching tentacles from The Darkness II. Not too shabby, not too shabby at all...

As for me, well...I'd prefer an older, grittier Dante who's more street-smart than street-tough. Kind of like a modern, DmC version of the brooding, calm and calculating Dante from DMC2. Maybe have him look like the concept art?

...except with white hair and facial hair.

DmC: Devil May Cry begun a certain character arc with Dante that I'd love to see continued in the sequel.
Dante started off as an underachiever. Reluctant, not a care in the world about anything, not even his own past. After all he's been through, all the torture and misfortune, he didn't want to remember. Who would?
But his reluctant facade finally fades out of sight, and his curiosity grows after he meets his long lost twin. He finally begins to confront his past after fighting to forget for so long (hence the tagline "Face Your Demons").
When this happens, Dante emerges more mature, despite keeping on his vulgar, rebellious persona. The fact that he's an angel-demon hybrid, a nephilim, doesn't really seem to phase him like it does Vergil. While Vergil considers it a responsibility and a strength, I don't think Dante feels the same way. Maybe to him it's a curse. Especially at the end of the game where we see Dante fight against his own kind. Hell, his own brother, in defense of a race that he owes nothing too. That has to have an effect on him.

"I took a stand. Fought back, killed... didn't matter the consequences. So, I chose my path and I lived by it. But with all that anger, violence, and death, you have to dig deep to see if you're still sane. Or if you could still call yourself... human."

I think that for the sequel to be effective, the theme of the game, at least for Dante's character arc, should be: what does it mean to be human? Dante said he didn't know who he was any more, so in the beginning we'll see Dante in a sort of crisis emotionally. Let's say that Dante is living in a small place in the city; a tiny brick flat he purchased on the cheap. Although, subtly, I'd like to show Dante gradually worrying more about his appearance as the game progresses, and finally by the end transforming into the stylish, enigmatic devil hunter we all know and love, with the red coat, white hair and all in the vein of the first Devil May Cry game. But, at the start, he'd sorta look like this, albeit with shorter hair and maybe a darker color palette, and a slightly more disheveled look. Anyway, aesthetic to the side, Dante's character would have to grow considerably. The story would need to take to a variety of places and to meet a variety of characters, whether they be old or new, to slowly transform his ego into something tangible that could be construed as a genuine desire to protect the human race, which would of course lead him to opening his "Devil May Cry" shop.

What that story might entail?
...I dunno. Ninja Theory and Capcom have a lot of freedom to go where they wanna go and do what they wanna do and would still be able to give Dante a satisfactory story arc that would make DmC Dante a much more three dimensional character than he already was. Ultimately, I hope to see NT and Capcom doing crazier, wilder, and more ambitious things with a DmC sequel that expands on the lore and characters of the first DmC. It's an exciting prospect.

Sorry if they're are any grammatical errors or even inane jumps in logic on this message. It's late and I'd pretty tired... and I'm also too lazy to proof read this.

Isn't there a way for Dante to renovate his old home into the Devil May Cry shop? Or turn from shop to an organization for demon hunters?

While on his soul journey with Kat and trying to develop and discipline himself, Dante can fight off demons and save lives while also earning enough money to buy his old home and rebuild it.

That would be sweet. I can totally picture Dante reclining back in his chair, putting his feet up on the desk, reading a magazine in his father's newly restored study, waiting for the telephone to ring.
Also, since a lot of games seem to be doing this, maybe this could be the in-game hub, where you can select missions, upgrade abilities and weapons, browse unlockable character skins, train, and simply explore the house.

Heh, trying to figure out what I can say of what I've written so far without spoiling later things :x

In Stairway to Heaven, Dante and Kat are operating out of the safehouse office that Vergil and Dante had held up in after The Order's headquarters was destroyed, essentially using the remnants of Vergil's secret stashes to continue the fight. Most of what's left of The Order are the keyboard activists linked to them over the internet, but it's still a network acquiring information and working to keep the world awake to the demons.

This chapter shows a bit about how the world is operating at the moment.

My requirements for Dante:

1. Please keep his short hair, it's stylish and looks good white.
2. Keep his coat, but have it slowly turn red as a result of his Devil trigger, maybe shorten it a bit to be an actual jacket.
3. Dante doesn't need an office, but rather needs a totally rad place to hangout before and after jobs. Like, a pizzeria or maybe a bar.
4. Have Dante drink Scotch.
5. Don't make him into a lame, Classic Dante copy. Give him his OWN STYLE.

i figured Dante is into Jack Daniels, or Whiskey.

Why not just have a bar in his office, or something? Or maybe he could rent a small place for himself in Limbo City which is just above a bar/pizzeria.
5. Don't make him into a lame, Classic Dante copy. Give him his OWN STYLE.
Agreed, but it should stay somewhat true to the core tenets of what most people consider the classic Dante to be like. Cockiness, swagger, style, and an aptitude for lame one-liners and puns, all the while still being an extension of the Dante we came to know in DmC, albeit older and wiser. He'd be more free spirited and have a less bitter outlook on society. He'd find comfort in small things and also the people in his life he'd consider friends or allies. I feel like this is something we saw a lot of DMC4 with the friendly banter with Trish, Lady, and even Nero. I'd like to see the new Dante akin to that.

HE'Z STILL THEE SAME STUUPID DONTE. HE JUST GOT SILVR HAIR. IT NOT EVEEN THE PROPER TYPE OF WHITE LYK CLASSIC DANTE'Z.

I don't anyone wants the Dante from DmC to be identical to the one from the original games (at least I hope not). The original series is still untainted and good ol' Uncle Dante will always be there no matter what. Having an alternate series won't change that. Let's give this new kid his time in the spotlight. Still, it would be nice if the similarities persisted and he grew into a far better character the original Dante could have ever been.
