Steve arrived at the hospital and, after making some inquiries, found the young woman he had saved. Her name was Katy. Steve poked his head into her hospital room and saw she was sleeping. He stepped in, closed the door behind him, and took a seat next to the bed. The hospital staff had told him they were having a hard time locating any family. In fact, they didn’t even know who she was. Katy had been asleep most of the time; the only reason the doctors knew her first name was because she woke up briefly and mentioned it.

Steve thought she looked so pretty asleep. So peaceful. He hadn’t planned out what to do in the even she was asleep, and so he continued to sit there. After a few minutes, he began to feel like a creep. She didn’t know who he was at all. He barely knew her. What was he doing? What if she woke up and screamed or something?

It was at that moment she did in fact wake up, but thankfully didn’t scream. Instead she looked over at him an smiled. “Are you the man who saved me?”

“Y-yeah. Steve. My name’s Steve.”

“Steve. It’s so nice to meet you. I’m Katy. Thank you for saving me from that monster.”

“No problem. Anytime.”

“Anytime? Ooh do you think you could help me again?”

Steve wanted badly to say yes, but he also had a feeling in his gut that something was off.

What should Steve do?
A) Hear her out
B) Leave the room

“What do you need? What can I do?” Steve asked.

“Come closer.” Katy whispered. Steve leaned in. “Closer.” She said. “Kiss me.” Her lips lightly touched his.

Something deep inside Steve told him this was a bad idea. She might have a boyfriend, for all he knew. But she was so pretty and her lips right there, begging for him.

What should Steve do?
A) Leave
B) Kiss her

Steve pulled back.

“I’m sorry but I have to go.” He said and stood up.

“So soon?”

“Yeah. Sorry, I got something to do. I hope you get well soon.” Steve said as he made it to the door. He jiggled the handle, but it wouldn’t open. “What the heck?” He pushed on the door. “Hey!” He yelled, but no one was in the hall to hear him.

A sinister laugh came from behind him. Steve slowly turned and saw the woman transform into a slime covered ghost creature.

“Don’t you want to kiss me?” It asked.

“Uhh.” Steve pounded on the door. “Help! Help!” The creature laughed.

“You in there!” A voice called from the other side of the door. “Get out of the way. I’m coming in.”

Steve threw himself to the side right before the door slammed open. A young man with short white hair walked in. He held a sword in one had and a double barreled revolver in the other.

“You might want to run.” The man said to Steve. “Don’t worry, I’ll take it from here.”

Steve backed up to the wall and slid himself behind the swordsman. He then bolted out of the room and into the hall.

Doctors, nurses, and other staff were running around in a panic to get everyone out.

What should Steve do?
A) Watch Nero kill some demons
B) Run like the wind

Steve ran like the wind. He did his best to not get trampled by the growing stampede headed for the exit. Something picked up a doctor and threw him out the window. People screamed and began pushing and shoving. Steve could barely breathe.

He managed to fight his way out of the mob and ran down an abandoned side hallway. He burst through the door of the nearest staircase and ran, panting, down to the ground floor and out the exit. He must have used a staff entrance, as the door led to a side alley with dumpsters. He felt the ground rumble and the brick wall burst. Steve ducked behind the dumpster for safety. He peaked out and saw something he did not expect. An old van had broken straight through the wall! The driver stuck her head out the window and yelled at him.

“You there! Get on in here!”

What should Steve do?
A) Ignore the crazy lady and run away
B) Get in the van

Sorry for the delay!

——

Steve hopped into the van and high fived the driver.

“Thanks for the assist. I’m Steve.”

“Nico. Now sit down. Gonna get rough.”

Steve barely had time to buckle up before Nico had the van careening around the side and onto the road.

“Hey you!” Nico said. “You see a white haired fella anywhere?”

“Big sword and a gun?”

“Yeah that’s him.”

“Yeah I saw him inside the hospital. And,” Steve cut himself off. Just then Nero blasted out of a window and landed on top of the van.

“You better not have made a dent!” Nico smacked the roof.

“Get us out of here!” Nero rolled off the roof and into the side door. “Whoa! Who the heck are you?” Nero steadied himself as the van accelerated.

“Steve. We met.”

“Oh yeah.”

“Is that a dragon?” Steve pointed in front. “Holy.”

“Not a dragon. A demon. Follow it.” Nero leaned on Nico’s seat.

“On it.” The driver responded.

It what was a complete disregard for physics, Nico drove the busted up van straight up the side of a building.

“Ahhhhhhh!” Steve screamed.

“Wooo!” Nero and Nico both cheered.

“What the fffff” Steve managed to cry out. The van shot up over the top of the building. He watched as Nero jumped back out and used the roof as a launch pad to jump high into the air and onto the demon’s back. The van slammed down onto the roof and Nico laughed. She and Steve both watched as Nero dashed up the back of the demon and sliced into its head. The monster screamed and fell to the ground, taking Nero with it.

“Woo! That’s my queue.” Nico grabbed the steering wheel. “Any ideas on how to get down?”

“Uhhh…”

What should Steve do?

A) Propose driving off the conveniently placed ramp
B) Get the heck out of the van and take the steps
C) Free choice! Suggest whatever you want.

C) do a handbrake turn in the van and cartwheel sideways tumbling off the building to the ground

Sorry for the delay! I’m running out of ideas.

———

Nico did a handbrake turn in the van and cartwheeled sideways tumbling off the building to the ground. Steve screamed in terror the entire time. Somehow the van landed right side up. Steve sat there open mouthed and frozen. He slowly turned his head to look at the driver in shock and disgust.

“What was that?” He asked.

“The fastest way down, honey! We made it.”

Nero successfully defeated the flying demon and rode it all the way down to the ground. The huge corpse skidded across the ground while Nero posed. It came to a stop right in front of the van. Nero hopped down and strode over.

“All in a day’s work.” Ht said as he hopped into the van and took a seat on the couch. “Let’s get this guy home.”

“Thanks.”

The last thing Steve wanted to do was stay in the psychotic van, but having to walk all the way home didn’t sound appealing either.

After what seemed like an eternity, but was probably more like twenty minutes, they arrived in front of Steve’s house.

“Thanks again.” Steve said as he got out.

“Steve right?” Nero asked as he moved i to the passenger seat.

“Yeah.”

“Take it east. And if you see anything funny, call us.” He pointed to the sign on the side of the van.

“Sure.” Steve replied to be nice, but he really hoped he never saw any of that ever again. Right as he was about to head inside, he remembered the reason he left home in the first place, “Oh hey. You wouldn’t happen to have a spare bag of chips would you?”

“Chips?” Nero asked.

Steve explained the situation.

“I got you.” Nero got up and fished around in the cabinets. “Doritos okay?” He waved the bag out the side door.

“Yes! Thank you, man.”

“Catch.” Nero tossed the bag over. Steve caught it, said farewell, and headed inside. He plopped down on in front of his TV, opened his bag of chips, grabbed his controller, and went back to playing games.

It was then he realized he didn’t have a drink.

The End!
