I'm likely going to go for effectiveness over preference. Though I can tell I'm going to use the axe the least. I'm not fond of axes.

When the game comes out, I'll do an angel-only run and record it, how about that?
just realized this could be a cool thing to do. people could do angel, demon, and human runs where they only use the specific weapon-set. :)

I think what your saying is you'll only use angel only moves in combat right? because it might be impossible to beat the game only in angel form. BTW, that would be a sweet walkthrough.
The axe doesn't seem all that effective. It's like a cherry on top or if your really terrible and your overwhelmed, then i could see the axe to create space and knock everything back.
But the scythe seems like it serves as the same purpose as the axe, but is much faster, faster than the rebellion is what it seems.

If it's impossible to beat angel-only, then I could make it an angel-majority run. Everywhere it isn't required, I'll use it. I'll get damn good at using it then. XD

From what i've seen, the demonic power is what pulls enemies to Dante, and the angelic powers pull you to enemies.
I honestly will not be using the grapple as much because the evade dodge seems like it covers a lot of ground, and i don't mind diving to save a combo.

I'd take new Rebellion all the way. It looks way better balanced (Long handle, thinner blade) than the old one (short handle, huge blade?). Mind you, it would be hard to weil either.
Rebellion always was more of a cosmetic weapon though: The blade is too broad to be a practical stabbing weapon, yet it has no curved blade to be used for slashing. New Rebellion is slightly better on that regard it's shorter and more narrow towards the tip, therefore ideal for stabbing. Considering that Dante has no stabbing moves except Stinger and Million Stab this argument is moot, though.

So, for aesthetics sake, I'll take the new slab of iron on a stick.

I will choose the new Rebellion for its functionality, though I like the design of the original one better.

I prefer pulling enemies towards than pulling myself towards, but I'm sure it'll be doable. And the evade dodge is a godsend. I just hope it has it's own button like DMC2 and Bayonetta did.

i consider the old Dante to be cooler than the new one but i think DmC Dante has a much better version of Rebellion. DMC Rebellion was just a giant sword and while it was really cool looking it didn't really do anything special. DmC Rebellion on the other hand is a shape shifting sword with at least 4 forms and the sword form alone should be able to do anything DMC Rebellion could do.

It would be nice if the evade dodge had its own button, but considering a button layout, i dont think the evade will have its own. You got Triangle for attack, Square for the gun, X for jumping (i think lock on and X will be the dodge) and O for the whip. The whip could be part of the Triangle, with a lock on and joy stick pointed up or down and Triangle. which would leave O available but i would prefer O as the whip.
Honestly i have no idea how the button layout will be.

In past NT games, dodge was simply the Rjoystick, but since NT is using UR3 engine, i dont think the camera will be in a fixed position at any point in the game.

It could be one of the shoulder buttons a-la Bayonetta.

It would be far more logical, if the whip would be set on the gun-button [], seeing how the guns are tied to Dante's human stance.

your saying while holding down a stance button and shooting, the whip will come out?
Or holding down the stance, locked on, and then shoot?

Lock on might be necessary, then you hold the stance-button and push []. At least I thought that might be more logical, as explained.

I for one vote you use the whip by pressing R4 on ps3, right bumper on xbox360 , and F9001 on PC

im not trying to go off topic, but speaking about the lock-on since holding two shoulder buttons at the same time would be an awkward feel, i think that you will only have to press R1 instead of holding it like past games. that way when you lock-on you can hold R2 or L2 to change your weapons and it will still fit the old scheme of holding down a shoulder button plus adding the main buttons to create different attacks. ex. high time by holding R1 back on analogue stick + triangle. but anyway sorry for going off topic, i just had to get that thought out of my head :P

2 out of 10, that's all I can give you and I'm really pushing it for chuckles.

Personally, I'd choose Rebellion over Dino's sword beCause Dino's sword looks awefully petty just like how Dino looked back in 2010. Sure, Dino's sword has got some morphing abilities, but the MAIN form of his sword doesn't catch my attention.
